Summer vacation has started.
Today is my first day as a lifeguard.
I woke up on time, showered and put on my red bikini. My boss specifically said red.
I looked in the mirror, I had lost weight and looked better.
"You still look fat, darling."
The voice in my head ruined my mood.

I shook the feeling of hating myself, grabbed my whistle, suntan lotion, swim shorts and a sweater. And made my way to the swimming pool.
I was quite lucky, 98 degrees and I get to swim, tan and occasionally clean while getting paid.

Our local swimming pool was crowded.
The water was packed with kids, beach balls, floating beds and water pistols.
The teens were chilling on the edge of the swimming pools.
The adults were tanning on the lounge chairs.
And I was sitting in a very high chair looking over the chaos.

Only 3 times did I have to jump in the water for kids who got cramp.
I was standing next to my chair when someone tapped my shoulder.
I turned my head to see the pretty girl from the restaurant a while back.
She looked amazing in her bathing attire, tanned, thin. I wasn't surprised, just envious.
She started talking to me.
"Hi Amy."
"Hey." I was a bit confused since I didn't know her.
"So you work as a lifeguard now?"
"Yeah, It was Rose's idea and it seemed like a good thing to do in my holiday."
"Sure thing."
She seemed nice, her smile was warm.
"Do you miss her a lot?"
"Who?" I asked slightly confused.
"Rose, silly."
The question was obvious, but foreign to me.
"I do. I'm sorry do I know you?"

The girl paused. The proceeded.
"I was very good friends with Rose. We met about a year ago. We adored each other."
I waited for her answer, she continued.
"We don't know each other, Amy. But I think we'd get along very well.
I hope you'll let me be your friend, I can help."

The girl was being very mysterious, she looked at me. She gave me a sly smile, like she was playing a game of chess and she was about to win.
"Check mate."

The girl walked off. She left me standing next to my lifeguard chair.
Something told me that I was meeting her again. She was going to change me.

"Ana and Mia will change your life."
