7 ▪️▫️Prolouge▫️▪️A Night You Didn't Want To Remember

After refilling the bucket you walked back into the amusing sight of Yuu and Grim struggling and failing. Then cue you launching the water from the bucket on to everyone again.

“Gyaaa!” Grim yelled at being dripping wet again.

After everyone registered the shock of being dripping wet, Yuu and Grim again, Mr. Crowley transformed back into his human form and opened his mouth. “I can’t believe… there is a person who can command monsters. To be honest with you, my intuition as an educator has been telling me that you (pointing to Yuu) have talent as a trainer or beast tamer since the uproar during the ceremony. But.. no matter how… (mutters)” “Could you let Grim stay here with us? He really wants to go to this school.” Yuu asked. “What now? A monster?” Crowley asked, shocked. “Please! And plus, the ghosts might come back, and I need someone to help me distract them while Cleo grabs the bucket to chase them off.” Yuu reasoned. Oh, right you still were holding the bucket. You quickly went to put the bucket away.

Returning, you heard Crowley start “However, I can’t simply allow someone, let alone a monster who wasn’t chosen by the Dark Mirror into this school. Also, I can’t let you be a freeloader here until you return to your own world.” “Well… talk about short-lived joy…” Grim said dejectedly. “Let me finish.” Crowley said, gaining attention back upon him once more. “Concerning the fact that both of your souls were called here, the school has to take responsibility as the ones in possession of the Dark Mirror. For the time being, you shall be permitted to stay in this dormitory for free. But, other necessities you will have to provide for yourself. Seeing as you have nothing to your name… Fufu, here is my proposition.”

“Gulp… What exactly are you going to make us do?” Yuu hesitantly questioned. Mr. Crowley quickly responded “No need to fret, I’ll have you both do maintenance and odd jobs around campus. From what I can see, you’re pretty decent at cleaning.” “That was pretty much all Cleo. And the water certainly helped.” Yuu stated. 

Continuing, Crowley asked “Would you three like to become the handymen of the school? This way you will receive special permission to remain on school grounds. I shall also allow the usage of the library for you to gather information on how to return to your respective worlds, or just world if by some stroke of luck you both hail from the same world. And the usage of the library is also for learning purposes, in case you wish to learn more about the ‘Twisted Wonderland’. For I am gracious. However! Only after all of your work is done.” Finishing that long winded speech Grim piped up next “Eeeh!? I’m not okay with that! I wanna wear that fancy uniform and be a student! And do all of those really cool spells like Blam! Blam! Blam!!” “If you’re unsatisfied with that, fine. I’ll simply toss you out again.” Crowley suggested. “Ffgnnaa!? I get it! I just have to do it. Just do it!” Grim exclaimed. Yuu dejectedly responded “Understood. No other choice.” You gave your own half-hearted nod with a tired sigh.

“Wonderful. Then, you three, devote yourselves to working as janitors at Night Raven College starting tomorrow!” Crowley said, then left. You were kinda hoping he would trip and fall on one of the water puddles around the dorm. He didn’t. 

“So… dinnertime I guess?” Yuu asked. “Oh! Wait! That guy didn’t give me any of my tuna!” Grim did what he does best and complained. “Calm down Grim. You can have some of my dinner instead.” Yuu offered. “Fine, but I want my tuna tomorrow.” Grim ended with.

After an awkwardly silent dinner, Yuu asked you “So… about the entire room situation…” “Oh, right.” You responded. “If you want to take the couch I can sleep on the floor tonight.” You suggested. “No! I could never do that! Since you seem tired, how about you take the couch and I’ll clean up one of the rooms. Tomorrow, depending on what the bird brain says, we can finish cleaning the house up enough to live in it.” Yuu counter suggested. “That works.” You said, honestly and truly tired. And with that you plopped on the couch and sent a bunch of dust flying into the air. Seconds later you were asleep after a hard, long and confusing day. 

Who would’ve thought  a day starting out with a job to take down an opposing gang would lead to a new word experience with meeting new… characters. Yeah that was a nice way of putting it. Maybe once you warm up to Yuu and Grim enough you could start pranking them. That would be fun.
