Chapter 49 (Previously the Epilogue) ~ Not over just yet

~Third Person's POV~

"What did Klaus say?" Kol asked as Amelia got into the passenger seat.

"He wanted to come along to eliminate the threat himself, but I convinced him to stay here. If by any chance the cure is already with them, which I doubt, I don't want Nik anywhere near it." She told him. "Also, he needs to be here more to take care of Hayley, the baby, Marcel, the witches. There are way too many reasons for him to stay back. I told him that the two of us can handle it."

"Let's hope we can." Kol responded dryly, as he started up the car. "Do you think they have figured out what the mark means?"

"I hope not. If they do, that means that they will know about the curse on Silas and the cure and that's something we can't risk happening."

"Just imagine, an immortal crazy witch on the loose; that sounds like so much fun." Kol said sarcastically.

"I got a bunch of mine and mother's grimoires along. There has to be something written in there about this curse." Amelia turned in her seat and reached out for the duffel bag in the back seat. "All I know is what Rebekah told us, which was what her hunter boyfriend told her, so I am going to assume that half of its fake, if not all of it."

"She dated a hunter?" Kol asked incredulously.

"Her taste in men is questionable." Amelia answered absently, still hunting for the particular grimoire that had information about Silas. "She told us that she was just trying to fit in and not raise suspicion."

Kol snorted in response.

"I got it." Amelia announced with a small cry and sat back down in her seat.

"What does it say in it?" Kol asked after 10 minutes, growing impatient.

"The brotherhood of five, a group of five gifted hunters hence the name, was formed by a descendent of Qetsiyah who wanted them to fulfil Qetsiyah's last wish; cure and kill the very first immortal, Silas. The mark or tattoo on their body is a map that leads to Silas and the cure, which is buried down with him, so that when Silas awakens, they can give him the cure and then kill him."

"How does it work, the mark?" Kol asked confused.

Amelia flicked through a few pages to confirm what she already knew. "The mark grows and new parts appear when a vampire or an immortal creature is killed. When enough vampires die, the complete map is displayed on their chest and it leads them to Silas. Only another hunter or a potential hunter can see this mark."

"Does that mean that the Gilbert kid is a descendent from the hunters?" Kol asked.

"It doesn't have to be a descendent. I don't know how that works. Maybe it's decided based on the person being worthy or not."

"And a 17 year old kid is worthy?"

"I don't know how it works Kol." Amelia shot him an exasperated look. "I am just going to ignore you for the rest of the ride."

"We are stuck in the car for about 10 hours, you will have to just deal with it sissy." Kol teased.

"It takes fourteen hours to get to Mystic Falls, Kol." She corrected him.

"I drive fast, really fast." Kol shot her a grin to which she just shook her head at him.

"What happened to 'I drive really fast'?" She mocked him when they reached their mansion in Mystic Falls.

"It's because of you that we reached so late." Kol complained as they got out of the car.
