Epilogue

Mateo POV

“Did he answer?” Lidia asked me as she fixed her hair

“Not yet” I laughed as the facetime screen was still dialing

“Can I see him?” Penny asked wearing her school uniform and holding her Hello Kitty lunch box

“Yes you can” I told her

“Hey babe” Rufus answered and Penny jumped in from of me

“Rufus! I got anew lunch box” Penny cheered to the screen

“That's so cool kid” Rufus said pretending like he wasn’t the one who bought it

Rufus bought it for her after seeing it at a store but as far as Penny knows it appeared on her bed one morning after school.

“And I have pintails” Penny cheered and I pushed her off my lap

“She excited to see you” I told him

“I’m excited to see her too, How's school babe?” He asked me

I was still undecided but I was enjoying myself so much, I’ve sat in some art classes, music classes, and even some classes in photography; I was currently getting my general education classes out of the way like math, english, public speaking, and stuff like that but I was enjoying myself and I knew that all that mattered.

“How touring?” I asked him

“Great, almost done though and I’ll see you soon” Rufus said dreamily and I blushed a bit

Me and Rufus facetime everyday and he's been helping me be okay with living alone; hearing his voice when I cook, read, clean, or fix something have been so comforting.

Lidia and Penny were doing great too; Lidia was working at the public library while getting her teaching degree and Penny was doing great in school and really enjoyed her time.

“When will you be back?” I asked him

“September then I’ll be all yours” Rufus said with a sweet smile

“Can’t wait” I told him and we just stared at each other lovingly but that was interrupted when Penny came back and showed Rufus her toy bunny that he also bought her and she sat down on my lap listening to her talk
