Rufus POV

“Wrap it up” Francis shouted as everyone packed everything away

“See you later” I told Amiee and hugged her as she and her group walked with their manger to get on there bus

Peck and his band were long gone so it was just us, I saw Mateo playing with his camera and I walked over to him

“Hey babe” I told me and placed my hand on his back

“Hey, I’m not dropping out of school” He told me

“Good, gonna continue being a writer?” I asked him

“No going to college undecided and I’m gonna do a few different classes” He told me which made me really happy

“It’s kinda scary but I’m ready for what comes next” Mateo said and he looked up at me

“But” He added which made me go stiff

“I need to learn to live alone so I think I should go home now” He told me and looked so sad

“I want to be with you, I don’t want to break up, but I need to do this” Mateo told me looking like he was about to break down

“That's fine babe, we can try long distance, I want to make this work” I told him holding his hand

“I trust you Rufus but, what if you meet someone great while your traveling” He asked me and I placed my fingers under his chin and made him look me in the eyes

“I don’t need someone great when I have the very best with me right now” I told him and I saw his eyes shin

“I love you” Mateo blurted out and he covered his mouth and looked so embarrassed

“I have no idea why I said that I..” He said breathing heavily and I let out a small laugh and hugged him close to me

“I love you dork” I told him and we kissed again

He walked to Francis together and told him together Mateo had to head home.He took it well and said he understood Mateo needing to leave to be on his own and focus on school.

I helped him pack and moved everything back to his apartment. It was the first time I had been to his place but I could tell it felt empty and I could see Mateo about to cry again but he held himself together really well as we put everything away.

We went to his room and I stayed the night. We didn’t do anything but cuddle all night. I had to leave early so I wouldn’t miss our flight so I kissed Mateo's sleepy face goodbye as I walked out of his apartment.

I gently closed the door so as not to bother him and made it back to the bus and took my cussing out from Francis like a man and went back to bed.

I texted Mateo all day after while waiting for the plane, and texted him again when I landed

I’ve never done long distance before but with Mateo I really want to give this a real chance

I want to give us a chance
