'You too, Professor Muran. Leave us alone.''

"Dhayne, come out this instant. Breakfast is ready." I heard Thana calling from the kitchen. I have been sitting on her bed for like thirty minutes and I haven't gained enough courage to face her and her parents.

What am I supposed to say? Should I apologize or something? For what? That would make me guilty of doing something. I was not yet done contemplating myself but this annoying student of Elvira kept on calling me.

"Dhayne-"

"Alright. I'm coming." I responded, stubbornly to cover the embarassment I felt earlier.

Well, they probably have moved on with what they saw. So, I should do the same. And why am I dwelling on these things? It may mean nothing to them now. Maybe they're used to seeing their daughter bringing up friends: whether naked or not, in their home.

"Alright, Dhayne. That's it. Stop being ridiculous! You did nothing, alright." I breathed out, motivating myself.

I cleared my throat as soon as her parents settled their eyes on me. "I haven't greeted properly earlier, Ma'am. I'm Dhayne Louise Aragon." I formally introduced myself.

"Pleasure to meet you. I'm Tawny Jan Hirano and this is my husband, Steven James." The woman took my hand to shake it.

I smiled awkwardly at them. Should I apologize? No, I shouldn't. "No need to say your full name here, Mom. Dhayne wouldn't mind." Singit ni Thana. Tumango ako sa kanya saka agad na umiwas ng tingin.

"You can sit now. Make yourself at home, anak." Ani ng lalaking Hirano. His last word moved my heart.

I looked at the dish on the table and I don't really like eating fish. And luckily, Thana made me a coffee. Siguro'y iyon na lang din ang uulamin ko.

Hindi ko masundan ang usapan ng mag-asawa kaya pagkatapos ni Thana ay kumuha nalang ako ng sarili kong kanin. I wasn't informed that rice is a thing for breakfast in this family.

Thana, just like me, was quiet all the time too. She didn't dare to cut her parents off even though they were talking about business while eating.

I have this rule I made for myself: talking about business or work is prohibited when I am eating. And I am getting uncomfortable at the moment but I respect their conversation. I am not in my own home, that's it.

I was about to take my first bite when I noticed the three of them staring, shocked and confused, at me. Well, except Thana who just stared at me blankly while raising both her eyebrows.

"I... Ahm, I just. I-" Giving up, I covered my face using my hands. "I'm sorry, I think I messed up a lot of times today."

"No, anak. It's fine. I just find it amusing that, just like our daughter, you're used to doing that thing." Sagot ng Ama ni Thana.

"She honestly introduced me to this bizarre dish. I honestly don't eat much fish and it was a shame to just blurt that out so instead, I poured this coffee on my rice." I explained.
