Chaeyoung haven't quite registered what happened - her brain and everything else stopped working as her doctor told her a crushing blow to her health
The funny thing was that she could still hear the doctor's voice despite being home for more than an hour - it was a muffled sound, like they're underwater and everyone is calm except for Chaeyoung because she felt like she was drowning.
Her parents are naturally worried but she couldn't even think of comforting them because she had no comfort left in her bones - Lisa (her bestfriend) invites her to a night out just to get her mind off things - things like her illness
"I know you don't want to talk about it but what did the doctor say?" Lisa asks as soon as Chaeyoung joins her and her girlfriend Jennie
"Geez, hello to you too" Chaeyoung tries to joke but Lisa's face was set in stone and so is Jennie, "Fine" she relents
Lisa and Jennie looked at her expectantly, "Well, it's confirmed I have Leukemia" Chaeyoung starts
"And...?"
"I'll be fine - I think, I just need a bone marrow transplant. The doctor already put my name on the list or something which is good...but he also told me to be patient since it's hard to find a match"
"Don't you have any cousins?" Jennie asks
"I do but like hell I'm gonna ask them for help"
Lisa sighs she already spots the rest of their friends so she makes her piece quick, "There are times when your stubbornness is endearing and there are times where it's not - like how much time you're wasting on chasing after Suzy" Lisa says quickly before the rest of their friends arrive within earshot of their conversation
Suzy Bae - she is Chaeyoung's longtime crush, a crush that isn't exactly a secret. She's been chasing the girl ever since she met her
At first her other friends have supported her but as time pass by they were against the whole thing - to be fair it does seem that Suzy is leading her on
Their table becomes a little rowdier, something that happens everytime Jisoo is in the vicinity with a boatload of alcohol. Their group consists of Lisa, Jennie, Chaeyoung and Jisoo who all met during middle school
Suzy, Taehyung, Yeri and Nayeon who they met during highschool - throughout the years they would do this, whether it's because Nayeon got catfished (again) or Yeri had punched someone (again) or whether Jennie and Lisa had a fight or if Jisoo won another award or achieve some milestone
Only this time they're meeting because Chaeyoung just got diagnosed with leukemia
"Calm your tits, I'm not dying yet"
Jisoo winced at her words, "when did you become so...crass?"
The rest of the group remained silent knowing so well when - Suzy wasn't exactly the best of them nor was she the one to hold her tongue on the swearing
"Can we have 2 of your top shelf whiskey" Jisoo adds before the awkward atmosphere settles in as Suzy sit farthest away from Jisoo and Chaeyoung
Jisoo is known for a lot of things, her self earned black card, her achievements in her career and her immense hate for Suzy
It wasn't something that any of them questioned because this is Jisoo and she seldom explain herself let alone justify her actions - mostly because it was all so logical that they don't question any of it
"Ah, yes Ms. Kim" one of the servers says before walking off with a huge grin
"So...what's the verdict?" Yeri asks, just as impatient as Lisa
"3 words, Leukemia, Not dying and bone marrow transplant" Chaeyoung says and Jisoo's eyebrows furrowed, "I don't know about you but that's about 6 words - 7 technically"
Everyone ignores her, "what about the bone marrow transplant?" Nayeon pressed
"I need it but I don't have a match yet so...I'm a sitting duck" Chaeyoung answers diligently as to not worry her friends more
"What can we do?" Taehyung asks, his usual comforting grin brings warmth
"There's really nothing much to do than wait"
...
After finishing the two bottles, their group is dissolved into a bunch of mumbling morons - except for Jennie and Jisoo are the mothers of the group
They split up and drop their friends home, maybe it was the alcohol but Chaeyoung thought Jisoo sending her home and tucking her to bed after every drunken spiel is what she will miss the most if ever she dies

Chaeyoung wakes up tomorrow morning, her head pounding but a smile makes it to her lips when she spots a glass of water, an ibuprofen and a note on her bedside table
You can never really hold your alcohol and yet you drink like a sailor. There's a soup on the fridge. You're welcome :P

It was one of the million things she loved about Jisoo - she was so sweet yet so cold.
And that proves to be more true because two days later their group was out for lunch just before she goes to another check up and Jisoo doesn't up
"Is that Jisoo?" Suzy says her eyes squinting at a familiar figure in front of the hospital
It was in fact - Jisoo with her hands on her coat pocket, designer shades covering her eyes but her smirk very visible
"I'm amazing" is what she says when they arrived in front of her
"And what made you amazing?" Jennie asks
"I talked to Chaeyoung's doctor about the bone marrow transplant and spread the word that a friend needs help so..." she explains and gestures to the 50 something (mostly girls) behind her, "I.am.amazing" Jisoo concludes
"They're all here to get tested for a match and free food - of course"
"Don't lie - they're only here cause they either have a gigantic crush on you or you paid them too" Lisa whispers
Chaeyoung stayed silent the whole time - tears we're pooling in her eyes. Sure she wasn't as scared as she should be and her illness is not as serious yet but the amount of effort Jisoo showed sent a chilling warmth throughout her body

It was pretty clear who cared and it shows. Suzy was her teenage puppy crush that she never outgrew but Jisoo was something different
She made Chaeyoung feel loved, important and cared for - and it shows.
She might be the one with Leukemia but it was clear as day that she would save Jisoo in whatever situation. She was her guardian angel and vice versa
Because it took a leukemia for Chaeyoung to realize what love is and her love is Jisoo and that she would want nothing more in the world
"Some angels are destined to fall, I'm just lucky you fell in front of me"
