Gloom replaced the expression on Kim Taehyung's face as he fixed his eyes on the hand wrapped around Kang Jia's waist. Jaw clenched, he asked, "Who is he?"

Kang Jia sighed internally. Last time, it was Kang Dae-Hyun misunderstood as her sugar daddy. And now Kang Sang-Jun?

Crap. Whatever.

Kang Sang-Jun cut in, "I'm one of her admirers. Don't think for a second that no one's shooting their shot after she's left you. You're damn wrong!"

When Kang Jia almost giggled, Kang Sang-Jun pinched her waist, shooting her a glance and hoping she'd not let the cat out of the bag.

Kang Sang-Jun and his role-playing? Her admirer? Well, if their father had known what happened, he'd have shown Kang Sang-Jun hell, for sure.

"That's enough. I'm taking Jia to dinner. Excuse us." Kang Sang-Jun thought Kim Taehyung would make way for them, but the last thing he'd expected was him offering to tag along. A thick-skinned move.

Kang Jia raised her brows. "Interesting. Instead of going after Lim Min Ji, you're coming with us? So what, no more me being revolting?"

Kang Sang-Jun nodded in unison. He couldn't piece together what Kim Taehyung was scheming. Could it be another conspiracy to get back together with his sister and continue wreaking havoc to feed his bottomless narcissism supply?

"Mr. Kim," Kang Sang-Jun wore a grim face. "Ever heard of the basis of first come, first served in the gentlemen's code? If Ms. Kang were in her right mind, she wouldn't have agreed on going out with her ex-husband to dinner now, would she? You're being overconfident."

While the rubberneckers all thought the three of them got caught up in a love triangle, Kim Taehyung couldn't care less what they were thinking. He looked straight into Kang Jia's eyes. "Ah, remember I was in Geumjeongsan two days back then? And..."

Kang Jia cut him off, shooting him a warning glare. "Aren't you hungry? Let's go, dummies." She did a 180, consenting to his coming along to dinner.

Kang Sang-Jun didn't comprehend the exchange-something secretive was going on between his sister and her ex-husband. They had come to an implied understanding, and none of them would speak about their weird behavior, especially what happened in Geumjeongsan two days ago. He felt ostracized.

It was awkward as the three sat at a table, not saying a word. Kang Sang-Jun tried making small talk, with Kang Jia playing it cool. Just as she thought the tension in the room couldn't get any more awkward, someone pushed the door to the private room open.

A few police officers marched in, and the team leader introduced himself as Officer Cha. "We've received a report from Choi So-hee's parents claiming that she's gone missing for over two days. According to their statement, the last person their daughter saw was Ms. Kang and Mr. Kim, so we need you to come down to the station to record your statements."

Like throwing an enormous rock into the lake, it caused an immense reaction.

"Choi So-hee's missing?" Kang Jia stood up, perplexed. It wasn't possible-she sent Ji Eun to check on the family and confirmed that they'd arrived home safe. Since Ji Eun would never pull a trick on her, did it mean something terrible happened to the girl afterward?

Something twisted deep in her heart. She turned to Kim Taehyung, only to meet his gaze.

"What's going on, Jia? Why didn't you tell me?" Kang Sang-Jun asked sternly.
