Chapter 23

Clay had gotten up first and then went back to his apartment to get something. He had arrived back at Joshua's place and he was still asleep. Which Clay didn't find surprising. At all. Clara woke up and Clay could hear her through the baby monitor.

He walked into her bedroom and saw her smiling at him. "Good morning, sweetheart. Daddy is still asleep, so I'll have to get you up." Clay told her with a smile on his face. She picked her out of the crib. She was still wearing her onesie from last night when she went to bed.

Clara gurgled up at him in her baby language. He looked into her eyes. They looked genuinely like Clay's. Clay felt like he was hallucinating when he saw the colour of her eye. But a lot of people had green eyes. A lot of babies had green eyes. But Clara's had a sparkling resemblance to Clay's. He didn't know why. But he wanted to find out. "Did you have a good sleep last night?" Clay asked her.

Clay walked back out to the kitchen; she was still smiling. Joshua still wasn't awake yet. Clay chuckled. He was still asleep. He decided to get Clara dressed and then hopefully Joshua would be awake. After dressing Clara in jeans and a cute little jumper, he walked back out into the kitchen. Joshua was standing there at the counter with his back leaned against it. He was wearing a t- shirt and a pair of tracksuit bottoms.

"Good morning." Clay greeted. Clara went mad when she saw her Daddy standing there. She had a huge smile on her face and started giggling. Joshua returned a smile. "Hey there, baby girl. How are you doing this morning?" Joshua asked.

Then he looked up at Clay. "Where did you go?" Joshua asked.

"I went back to my apartment to get dressed and to get something for you. I want to take you out for breakfast." Clay replied.

Joshua arched an eyebrow. "Just me? What about Clara?" Joshua asked with a teasing tone. Clay just rolled his eyes. "Of course, Clara's coming." Clay replied.

"That's why she's dressed." Joshua stated.

Clay nodded and smiled. "Yes, that's why she's dressed. Now, you go get dressed so that we can go." Clay told him. Joshua nodded.

"I'll be back in a few minutes." Joshua said to Clay and then walked back into his bedroom. He shut the door behind him. Joshua picked out a pair of jeans and a shirt. After quickly getting changed, he opened the door again.

Clay was sitting at the table with Clara in his lap. They both had a smile on their faces. Joshua couldn't help but stand there and watch. A small smile pulled at the corners of Joshua's lips.

Then Clay noticed that he was standing there. Clay grinned at him.

"Come on, are you ready? I have something that I want to give you."

Joshua frowned. "What do you want to give me?" Clay couldn't help but grin at him. "That's for me to know and you to find out." Clay teased him.

Joshua furrowed his brow. "You ready?" Clay asked. Joshua nodded. "I just need to get Clara's bag and then we can go." Joshua replied.

After Joshua got Clara's bag, Joshua grabbed his keys and they both left the apartment. Clay still had Clara in his arms and there was a car seat in the car for her. They reached Clay's fancy car and Clay opened the backseat and put her in the seat. Joshua was looking on in shock.

"When did you buy her a car seat?" Joshua asked. Clay just shrugged. "I bought it the other day. She's going to be in my car often and I know that you don't have a car, so you didn't feel the need for one." Clay replied.

"How is she going to be in our car often?" Joshua asked.

"When I bring you and Clara places, she's going to need a car seat." Clay replied. Joshua just nodded and got in the front seat. Clay closed the door of the car and then got into the driver's seat and started the engine. He drove off and took a right turn. "Where are we going?" Joshua asked.
