Hylla

I walked into history class clenching my bag. There stood a tall handsome dark man, Dressed in a suit and tie. He looked at me and smiled. His eyes green as the fresh morning grass.
"My dear, take a seat, would you?"
I returned the smile as I took the only available chair at the front of the class.
"Good morning class. As u know I'll be your new history teacher starting this semester. Would any of you like to tell me my name?"
"Yeah, someone thinks we can read his mind now." Someone muttered from the back of the class.
"That's funny," he grinned, "if any of you were paying attention..."
I noticed writing appearing on the chalkboard, looking around to see if anyone else noticed.
"Mr. Griffin baker," I said lifting an eyebrow.
He looked at me and smiled. "Well done...?"
"Hylla sir, Hylla knight."
"Yes, and as I was saying if any of you were paying attention you would have seen it on the board." He looked at me with suspicion and continued to sit at his table.
"Take out your books and start reading from page 13. In 20 minutes we gonna have a... Small quiz." He looked at me again.
I pulled out the book from mom's bookshelf and looked at the cover. In the light, it was just a plain black dusty old leather cover. No writing, no markings, and no Romanian. I put my hands at the sides of the cover to try and cut out the light and there it was the blue writing I had seen down in the study.

I was just about to open the book when the buzzer rang. I looked up surprised. The rest of the class had gotten up and started to exit the class. I slipped the book back into my bag and was about to get up when someone sat on my desk.
"Can I help you?" I asked annoyed.
"Knight. James knight. " I looked up at him. 6 feet, fair with blue eyes, caramel hair and a wicked smile slapped across his face.
"Knight? So now you think we're related or something?"
He folded his arms across his chest. "Yes, I mean I haven't met anyone with the same surname as mine, and I've never met my dad."
"Your dad? What happened to him?" I exclaimed.
"He was...murdered." He sighed and looked at his feet. At that exact moment, I don't know what happened. I stood up my chair falling behind me. I crossed my eyebrows at him before slapping him. The reaction on his face made guilt settle in the pit of my stomach. I heard Mr. Bakers chair scraping the tiles as he got up and began to walk towards us, the sky outside turned darker with every step he took. James and I glanced at each other, before moving slowly back to the end of the classroom. Darkness filled Mr. Bakers' eyes, thick green smoke filling the space around him. The end of his fingertips digging into his palms. Suddenly a great big shadow filled the rest of the classroom, a big black shadow. And not two, not four but multiple sets of big terrifying, hungry yellow eyes.
"Don't move." Mr. Baker said to me.
"what are those?" James asked pointing towards the shadow.
"Demons!" He said, taking James's hand. "I'm sorry Hylla, I can't take both of you."
"What?" I gasped. " But, Mr.Baker!" I screamed as I tried to grab onto his fading hand. The green smoke began to circle around him, faster and faster until they both disappeared.
I felt the guilt from earlier being replaced with an abrupt burst of rage and fear.
The demons enclosing around me, I closed my eyes and tried to think.
"What should I do?" I whispered to myself. I squeezed my eyes shut and slid towards the ground as I felt the shadow hovering over me. I opened my eyes to see it right in front of my face but in between the darkness just a single pair of bright blue eyes.
I reached out shoving the shadow aside. But the eyes were gone.
"Wait come back!" I shouted as the demons began to move to encircle me again.
"We must get her." A shiver went down my spine as something got hold of the bottom of my leg. I shook my leg to get it off, kicking and screaming. The darkness felt as if it was engulfing me, filling up inside me... Tearing happiness and light away.
"Get away from me!" I shrieked.

Soon I could feel both my legs turning cold as ice, the voices howling in my ears. Fear trickling down my spine. Too afraid to open my eyes, I left myself fall away from existence trying harder and harder to think happy thoughts, to forget about what was happening. That in reality... I was gradually being taken away by a bunch of light-sucking monsters...demons if you may. Pulling onto my arms and legs dragging me away. What was the use of screaming now? Who would hear me over the shrieking of these demons? So I let myself get carried away until... A flash of blue light sliced through the darkness causing havoc as it maneuvered around. The demons letting go of me, I slowly got up, every inch of me shivering as I did.
"Come." Something said to me, or as I like to remember the pair of blue eyes.
"Listen to me, stay the hell away from me. You and your demon pets!" Running as fast as I could I ran out from the class and down the hallway. Checking behind my shoulder, the demons following and so was the pair of blue eyes. Every once in a while disappearing and reappearing.
As I turned back, the world was dark. As if all light had withdrawn from the earth and it was just me running towards a tunnel of never-ending darkness and grief.
