Waves (Only a Cut)
"If you could kill yourself right now, would you?" I asked.
He shook his head. "No," he said, "because suicide means that you've given up on yourself. And I'm not gonna do that."
Jeremy told Isobel that cutting made your problems go away. She believed him, until she actually stopped and had to deal with the pain on her own. But after Jeremy dies an untimely death, she begins to cut herself again. Dealing with bullies and with rumors being spread about her, Isobel has no idea what to do. When life gets rough, she turns to her razor. When she finally gets caught cutting, she's put in a counseling group where she meets other troubled teenagers with similar issues.
A new friend teaches her that cutting is no way to live and that there are so many things in life to look forward to. Together, they learn the true value and meaning of what it means to truly be alive.
