This fictional story is entirely based on the writer's imagination; all of the real-life events depicted in it are entirely coincidental. The novel is about battle, however the primary protagonists in this fiction are a soldier and his dog, who participate in the war when their country is conquered by a more powerful country. This occurred in the contemporary era. Because he lost his family during the war and was not with his family at the time, the main character goes through numerous tribulations. He came to their hamlet after losing the battle, and he stated he was incredibly lucky since he was the only one remaining of his entire troop of troops and his dog. When he returned from the war, his heart was wounded by the awful deeds he witnessed, as well as the loss of his family, which drove him to pursue and exact revenge on his enemies.

This is an emotional short story of when a Native American boy is kidnapped by settlers and forced to live the "right" way. This story gives the two perspectives of a young settler boy, Mathew, and a young unnamed Native American boy they renamed Samuel. This story is both perspectives of when the settlers would kill the adults in a tribe and kidnap the children to raise them the "right" way forcing them to learn English and read the Bible, and the other perspective of the young Native American boy living through that experience... but how will it end when he doesn't conform?
