As Kyoya jumps off the glacier of ice he made earlier, he looked forward in the area where he used his spell against Invel. When he did, he saw the entire area behind him frozen solid. However as he looked at Invel, he was shocked by what he saw.
"Ice Creation Magic:True-Ice Kamui."
With his grimoire opened, Invel covered his body in an armor made from ice. However, this ice was the same as ice from the underworld. Just standing while wearing this armor, made the ground underneath his feet instantly freeze.
"It's a good thing I managed to put on the armor before that attack hit me. If I took it head on without any type of protection, i'd be a human popsicle now. I think I see why Miss Vanica is interested in this boy. He's definitely dangerous. Those last two spells seem to have taken a lot of mana
from him."
"....heh. I hope you don't think that freezing the entire area would help you. I still have a secret weapon."
Invel was surprised by what Kyoya said. Did he have a power aside from his Ice-Make magic? Soon Kyoya opened his mouth as Invel couldn't believe what he was witnessing.
"HE'S EATING THE ICE?! HIS MAGIC POWER IS EVEN BEING REPLENISHED!"
As Kyoya was eating Invel's ice, he suddenly stopped as he began to cough. This ice, just eating it made it feel like Kyoya's lungs were about to freeze. Kyoya may have replenished some power, but if eating the ice damages him too then it wasn't worth the risk.
"I was a little worried, but it seems it was for nothing. It makes sense that a normal human can't consume my magic. Ice Magic:Rain of Ice Spears!!!!!!"
With his grimoire opened, Invel created a gigantic shard of ice in the air. As he brought down his arm, the ice shard broke apart into numerous spears as they rained down on Kyoya. Since he barely defended himself with Rho Aias, Kyoya needed a new tactic.
"Ice-Make Unlimited:One Sided Chaotic Dance!!!!!"
With remarkable shaping speed, a vast amount of swords are created, all made of ice in various shapes and sizes. The weapons are connected by a large chain of ice that spirals around Kyoya several times with the blades pointing outwards.
Kyoya swings one arm forward and his other arm backwards as he launched the swords at Invel's spell. While the spells constantly clashed with each other, Kyoya quickly got in front of Invel as he was ready to attack.
"Ice Devil's Fang!!!!!!"
Kyoya clads his arms in ice and punched Invel in the center of his armor. Afterwards, he launched numerous consecutive punched at the man as he saw a crack in his armor.
"He damaged my armor, but......"
Invel quickly punched Kyoya away from him. When Kyoya got up he looked at his hands and saw that they were covered in Invel's ice. Normally he would eat the ice magic, but that wasn't an option. However, when he looked at his right arm, he saw the black markings grow against his will.
"Shit....am I starting to lose control of it again?!"
When Kyoya first began training, he realized two things. He needed to master his Devil Slayer Magic and he needs to learn to control it. However, when the marks on his body begin to grow, he feels like something is being taken from him. Something that made him who he is. The thought of losing himself to this magic was terrifying and he rejected the idea of succumbing to it.
"Ice Magic:Thalg Thalgeyya!!!!!"
With his grimoire opened, Invel created several cold air tornados that were heading towards Kyoya while he kept launching ice spears at the boy. As the boy saw this, he began to wonder. Can he really win like this? As he did, he heard a voice in his head as he saw an image in his head. When Kyoya looked around, it was almost like time has slowed down.
"Are you sure you can win like this? If you do nothing, your comrades will die. If you don't do anything, the new home and the people you met will die. But before all that..you're gonna die."
"What should I do? If I let my magic consume me, I feel like I won't be the same. If I do nothing....then i'll die, i'll fail everyone."
As Kyoya looked at the man in front of him, he noticed something off. His face, why did this man resemble him so much. Soon the man smiled as he looked at the boy.
"The issue is simple. You lack resolve and greed. Who do you wanna save? Who do you want to protect? What will you do to ensure you don't lose those things? These are all important."
"What will I do? There's only one thing I can do. That's right....there's only one thing I can do......"
Soon Kyoya saw Invel's attacks heading towards him. At first he didn't move a single muscle. As the attacks were inches away from him, Kyoya opened his mouth as he began to eat the ice again. Seeing this, Invel was surprised by the boy's second attempt.
"He's trying to eat the ice again! Its obvious that in his state that he can't eat this ice normally!!!!"
"You know....at first...I didn't want to succumb to it. But if it's between life or death, if giving in means I can survive...then i'll give in. I don't have time to die as long as the Dark Triad and devils are around."
As Kyoya finished eating Invel's ice, the man's eyes became wide with shock. He expected Kyoya's body to be frozen from the inside out as he was a normal human and consumed ice from the underworld. As he looked at Kyoya he couldn't believe what he saw. Black markings nearly covered up half of Kyoya's body as his left eye went from the color black to red.
"A normal human would be frozen in an instant if they consumed my ice. Wait....this dark ominous mana from his body, those marks.....did his magic made him part devil?! That kind of thing must have some drawbacks!!!"
"My comrades are in danger. If their lives are on the line, i'll gladly paint my soul black with sin and paint my hands red with blood. If being evil means I can go back to them...then let me be evil. Ice Devil's Zeroth Destruction Sword!!!!!"
Kyoya creates an ethereal long sword from his palms as he slashed Invel. When he did, Invel's armor was sliced apart as a large slash mark was now on his chest as blood escaped from his wound. Shortly afterwards, Invel's body was now frozen in ice made from Kyoya's Devil Slayer Magic. As Kyoya was approaching Invel, his instincts were telling him one thing.
"Kill him."
As Invel looked at Kyoya, he saw the young ice mage was producing the same ice that he's been using against him this whole time. Not only that, he felt a sinister presence coming from the boy.
"Ice Devil's Zeroth Destruction Fist!!!!!!!"
After using Ice-Make magic to mold and shape the ice that he devoured from Invel's magic, Kyoya creates a pair of destructively powerful gauntlets with the same properties as Invel's ice and punches the man several times. When he was done, Invel was severely injured and frozen in ice. However, Kyoya's instincts were still screaming at him.
"Kill him. Kill him! Kill him!! Kill him!!!! Kill him!!!!! KILL HIM!!!! KILL HIM!!!! KILL HIM!!!!! KILL HIM!!!! KILL HIM!!! KILL HIM!!!! KILL HIM!!!!"
"Ice-Make:Bölverk Gram!!!!!!!"
After drawing power from his Ice Devil Slayer Magic, Kyoya creates several small daggers of ice and punched them at Invel. After launching the daggers, he made a large sword from ice and punched it towards his victim.
As Invel was struck by the several daggers of ice, he felt his blood, bones, and body being frozen in ice. This resulted in him being unable to move. Afterwards, Invel felt the final sword being shot into his chest.
Seeing this, Kyoya quickly got in front of Invel and punched the sword through his chest while conducting his Ice Devil Slayer Magic through the blade. This resulted in a giant hole in Invel's chest as a large blast of Ice Magic went through. But the voice in Kyoya's head screamed louder as a dark mist emits from his body and it drained the life of anything it came in contact with.
"KILL HIM."
"That's right.....he'll keep trying to endanger my home and comrades as long as there is a way to bring him back. Plus Vanica can just simply use her curse to revive him like she did with dad. In that case....I just need to destroy any trace of Invel. If it's for my comrades.....i'll gladly play the role of a villain. After all, in a war, both sides are evil."
A dark smile formed upon Kyoya's face. As he opened his hand, a dark presence could be sensed from him as he was ready to destroy Invel. In this moment, Kyoya embraced the evil within him. In this moment, he wasn't himself. As he gathered a large amount of mana in his hand, he said one thing as the voice only kept getting louder. Soon he found out, that it was his own voice.
"KILL HIM."
"So long....you piece of shit."
"If you choose to become a magic knight....use your magic for protecting people. If you find friends and comrades that you trust, then don't hesitate to reveal your grimoire and fight with all you have if it means to keep them safe."
Kyoya stopped moving as Ur's words were ringing in his head. As they did, the menacing aura around him disappeared as the devil slayer marks were fading from his body. Soon Kyoya ran to where Asta and the others were as he was thinking to himself. However, he wasn't the only one who was thinking.
"Ur......even in death, you somehow manage to save me. I'm sorry....but I feel like that the more involved I get in this battle...the closer I get to breaking my promise with you."
"I seem to have a strong influence over this boy since I dwell within his grimoire. Since learning Devil Slayer Magic too quickly and using it in rapid succession caused his body to become part devil, his sanity is slowly withering which makes it easier to influence him. Be careful, my descendant. Just as humanity has great potential for good.....it also has great potential for evil. So I beg of you....don't end up like me."
