Silence takes over as the awkwardness settles in.
He looks to the side, clearing his throat as you break into a crimson blush.
"Uh... thanks..." You mumble wearily.
He nods.
"Y-Yeah..."
A few more quiet minutes pass by before he stands up, brushing his hands up and down the front of his pants.
"Should we get back to class?"
You look at him and smile lightly.
"Yeah, lets go."
He mirrors your expression and bends down, taking you by surprise when he lifts you up and holds you bridal style.
You look at him in confusion when he makes his way to the door.
"You should um... you should probably try and keep your weight off of your foot for as long as possible... I don't mind carrying you back."
You grin sheepishly and nod once in agreement.
6 Hours Later
After arriving back to class in Jungkook's arms and recieving several nasty glares from your female classmates and Mr. Hwang, you manage to make it through the rest of your classes on your own, seeing as Jungkook wasn't available to carry you every where.
You were currently making your way to your car with Minji strolling behind you, blabbering on about her family's get together from the week prior.
"Anyway, so then my brother knocked over the entire bowl of spaghetti sauce and it spilled all over mom's new Jimmy Choo's. She was LIVID. She literally chased him out the back door holding up a spatula and threatening to beat his a-"
"Y/n!"
A voice sounds from behind you both, causing Minji to groan at the thought of not being able to finish her story.
Turning around, your eyes catch sight if a frantic Jungkook running full speed in your direction.
You smile and your heart picks up pace when he finally reaches you.
"H-hey... can we talk?" He pants.
"Sure."
You both stand smiling and gawking at each other before realizing than Minji is still next to you.
You turn to her and lock eyes, you use your gaze to gesture in the other direction, hinting that you want privacy with Jungkook.
After moments of her furrowing her eyebrows and raising them in confusion, you sigh.
"Minji, can you give us a minute?" You ask, trying to remain as polite as possible.
"What? Why? You're my best friend. If he has anything to say to you, he can say it in front of me. You're gonna give me all the details later anyway."
"Please?" You sigh again, rolling your eyes slightly.
"Finneeeee." She whines before dragging her feet back towards the school building.
You turn to Jungkook who masks an amused expression. Shrugging off the thought, you ask the obvious.
"So... what did you wanna talk about?"
"Oh right," he brings up his hand, scratching the back of his neck, "I was just thinking... you said you wanted to be friends. So, why don't we hang out sometime, y'know? It could be fun..."
His ears turn red as he speaks.
You nod slowly, in comparison to your heart that's hammering in your chest.
"Sure, I'm free tomorrow after class... Do you wanna go to the arcade or something?" You question timidly as he locks eyes with you again.
"Y-yeah... I'd love to..."
9 years later
"Come on, baby! You gotta put your shoes on so we can go!" You say, chasing after the four year old as she scurries around the room, hopping over small toys and coloring books in the process.
"Nooooo!" She giggles.
"Sweetheart, plea-"
"Knock knock, what're you two cuties up to?"
The sound of your husband's voice echoes through the room.
"Daddy!" The little girl pushes you to the side, bolting straight for the robust man standing in the doorway.
You sigh, tossing her pink sneakers on the floor as you flop back onto her tiny bed.
"Hey princess," he grins, taking the little one in his arms and smiling, "Have you been giving Mommy a hard time?"
Her smiles falters slightly and her cheeks blaze before she shakes her head shyly.
"No Daddy..."
"Hmmm," He lifts an eyebrow, "Ok then, I left you a present on the kitchen counter. Why don't you go get it and come back here so we can finish getting ready to go to the arcade, alright?"
She squeals, jumping out of her father's arms and running down the hall.
He chuckles before turning to your figure, already on the verge of falling asleep in the heap of disney blankets and fluffy pillows.
He takes long strides to you before dropping his large body on the twin size mattress, almost knocking you off in the process.
"What's wrong, love?"
You shrug, closing your eyes and snuggling into his chest.
He brings his hand up to caress your hair, making you sigh in relaxation.
"I love you." He whispers in your ear, sending shivers down your spine.
You mumble incoherent words back to him causing him to chuckle and pull you closer.
At the arcade
Grabbing the little plastic cups with your tokens inside, you hand one to your daughter and one to your husband before heading to a small table.
The little girl beams at the sight of the colorful lights and funny noises coming from the many machines lined up around the room. She abandons the two of you as Jungkook calls after her.
"Areum! Stay where we can see you!"
His demands go unheard as she rounds a corner, joining a group of children near the Whack-a-mole. He sighs but gets distracted when you place your small hands over his big ones.
"Do you remember it?" You ask, smiling softly.
"What?"
"The first time we came here. Our first 'date?'"
He smiles too, nodding as he pulls your head to lean on his shoulder.
"Like it was yesterday. That was one of the best days of my life." He caresses the back of your hand with his thumb soothingly.
"Me too." You hum. "Do you ever miss being like that? Being young, not having to pay bills or take care of Areum. Not having to wake up at 5 in the morning to take care of your wife or deal with her crazy hormones and mood swings?" You both giggle as he moves his hand to rub your small baby bump.
"Sometimes I do think about how easy it was back then but... I wouldn't give this up for anything in the world, it might not be easy but..."
"What we have now is perfect..."
