NOVEMBER took a deep breath in before letting out a shaky exhale. She held her stick in her hand as she leaned over and got ready for the puck. It was their first game of playoffs against the Hornets.
Nova was at center with Connie and Guy at her sides. Bombay decided to put Charlie and Averman as defence, much to Charlie's dismay, as he thought those five had perfect chemistry.
The referee came along with the puck and looked at the two players. Nova narrowed her eyes at her opponent, trying to rattle them from their game as they looked at each other.
"ready?" The referee asked both of them. Nova nodded along with the Hornet player before the puck was dropped onto the ice.
The hornet got the puck but it took about 0.3 seconds for Nova to steal it and pass it back to Charlie.
She quickly turned around and swerved around the Hornet she had stolen the puck from. Somehow, this made them dizzy and lose their balance as He had fallen to the ground.
Charlie passed up the side over to Guy. In one swift motion, Guy passed to Connie as two players charged at him. That left Connie to bring the puck up until a defender was on her.
Nova skated behind Connie along with Averman. Quickly, The Connie got real close to the defender before pushing the puck through her legs and over to Nova.
Nova watched as two players came at her quickly, so the girl backhanded the puck back to Averman before she ducked, causing broth players to crash into one another and fall.
Nova managed to get out beneath them as she quickly skated to a spot near the middle of the goal, right by the goalie.
As one defender was busy recovering from his fall and the other was busy charging at Averman, Nova slapped her stick to the ground and hollered at her red headed friend to pass.
Averman snapped his attention up and quickly sailed the puck to Nova before he got checked to the ground by one of the Hornet players.
Nova cradled the puck and quickly turned to face the goalie. She lifted her stick as she was about to shoot before and slapped her stick to the ice. The goalie was faked as he thought Nova was up for a slap shot.
She quickly pushed the puck to the right as the goalie attempted to recover from Nova's trick. She flicked the puck in, making sail to the back of the net, just about hitting the back post.
"Yeah!" She cheered as Connie skated over and engulfed her into a big hug. Guy, Averman, and Charlie joined her as they all piled up on one another, nearly falling in the process.
The five subbed off as the second line went on.
"holy!" Coach cheered with a smile as they all sat to get water, "what kind of play was that!"
Averman grinned and pushed up his glasses after taking a long slug of water. "we call it the Averman, Saverman.." Averman smirked proudly, "it's really all about the wonderful assist that can only be made my the one and only Lester Averman"
Nova scoffed and smacked the back of Averman's head playfully. "shut up, Averman. No it's not," She laughed before looking up at coach, "we don't call it anything. That was just some random passes that orchestrated into a perfect play"
"well keep doing that," Coach smiled, "you five have brilliant chemistry"
The five watched as Bombay walked away before talking to one another. Nova sat down on the bench with Connie beside her. Somehow, as if the boys read their minds, they backed off and sat somewhere else knowing that this was their 'girl talk'
Connie laughed as Guy was the last to register everything and was the last to back away from their conversation. As he walked off, Nova was looking at her friend with a smirk.
"what?" Connie asked with a never fading smile
November shrugged and hummed to herself as she glanced around the arena. She looked back at her best friend with the same look she had before. "well..." Nova began, "i couldn't help but notice you and Guy being a lot more flirtatious in public... before it was just when y'all were around me but- oh my... I think Guy Germaine has a crush on you"
Connie scrunched up here nose before she slumped down exhaustedly. "ugh! i know!" Connie whined, "i feel like he does too but he won't God damn admit it!"
"so i'm guessing he hasn't asked you out yet?"
Connie pouted and shook her head and she leaned down and rested her elbow onto her knee. Her chin fell onto the palm of her hand as they watched the third line sub on.
"well.." Nova said, nudging her friend in the process, "i think he just needs a little push in the right direction"
Connie cocked her head sideways and looked at Nova questionably, "care to share?"
Nova smirked and looked behind Connie, Over to where Guy, Averman, and Charlie laughed about something random. "i'll just show you"
November cracked her knuckles and tilted her head side to side before she sprung up and strutted over to the group of boys. Connie followed her friend with her eyes as she walked off.
Connie watched as Nova leaned down and grabbed the hem on Guy's shirt. She bawled her hand into a fist and pulled Guy up to her level. Connie couldn't help but snicker as the expression on her crush's face went from happy to incredibly frightened.
"hey Guy.." Nova said innocently with a sweet smile
"uh..." Guy stuttered in a shaky voice, "how do you do, N-November?"
Nova stifled a laugh and snorted as she raised her eyebrows at the use of her full name. "well.. i have a suggestion for you"
"anything that will let me live through his very random and horrifying moment"
Nova scrunched up her nose and smiled sweetly at him. "hmm.. i think.. you should go, grow some balls and do that thing you've been wanting to do"
Guy's eyes widened as Nova let go of him, making him stumble back a bit. She patted his chest reassuringly and smiled. He sighed in relief as she walked away as if nothing had happened.
"that was so direct," Connie said in a stunned tone before thinking a moment, "but not at the same time?"
Nova shrugged and looked over her shoulder to see Charlie, Averman, and Guy whispering amongst themselves. November turned back to her best friend and smiled, "i think he got the message"
Connie opened her mouth to speak but was interrupted by a blaring sound of a siren going off. The two girls snapped their attention to the ice with 50% fear and 50% excitement.
"Way to go, Banks!" She heard Bombay cheer as Adam came off.
Adam took off his helmet and revealed his sweaty but smiley face as Bombay patted him on the back proudly.
Nova instantly made her way over to him and sat down beside him as Connie stood in her spot, watching the two interact.
"you scored?" Nova asked with a smile
Adam took a drag of his water and nodded before he set it down. "yep," He said, popping the 'p' "pretty super, huh?"
Nova laughed and rolled her eyes at him playfully. "sure, Mr Banks. The goal that i definitely saw was pretty super"
"well... i saw your goal, that was pretty super if i do say so myself"
Nova clicked her tongue and pointed finger guns at him before swiping fake dust off her shoulder. "oh i know," Nova joked proudly, "only the best from the Super Nova Collins"
Adam cocked an eyebrow and smiled at her. "is that a challenge?"
"oh what ever do you mean, Mr Banks?"
"You can call me superman" Adam winked
Nova's smile turned into a forced serious expression as she gave Adam a knowing look. He smiled innocently at her as he knew he won the 'battle'
"Really?" Nova said with no expression, trying to hide her smile
Adam shrugged and hummed to himself as he looked around the arena. "mhm.."
Nova scoffed a laugh as she shook her head. "I said i'd think about it.."
Adam looked at her and nodded solemnly. "alright," He agreed, "but- just imagine the power the super duo could have-"
"don't push it" Nova interrupted as she allowed her smile to creep into her face. Adam chuckled and looked at her, her smile being extremely contagious.
Connie Moreau couldn't take her eyes off the two as she continued to stand there, watching as her best friend smile widely. She watched as bright blue eyes gazed into green ones she's known since she was six. She watched with a content smile, not realising the boy who was staring at her the exact same way.
