Sam and Dean gasped awake and sat up.

"You alright?" Sam asked.

"Define alright." Dean replied.

"Jess?" Sam said aloud. Why hadn't she woken up yet?

Dean turned to look at the girl next to him. She was still dead.

"No." Dean cupped one arm underneath Jessica's neck, and the other around her waist. "No no no." Dean looked the girl over for any signs of life. He saw non—

Jessica's back arched and she sucked in as much air as she could.

"Thank god." Dean chuckled nervously. He thought he had lost her.

"We need to call Cas." Jessica quickly got off of the bed. She walked carefully to the front door.

"Where are you going?" Dean asked.

"I-I need some fresh air." Jessica replied.

"Fresh air?" Dean cocked a brow.

"I just need some time alone to process everything I saw." Jessica sighed. "It'll only be a minute."

"Ok." Dean nodded his head.

Jessica pressed her lips together and opened the door. She closed it behind her and sighed. She didn't want to do this. Not to Dean or Sam. But, if Joshua was right about the Empty. Jessica wanted to keep herself safe just until all of this blew away. She wanted to keep everyone safe.

"He's going to hate me." Jessica sighed. "I shouldn't do this." Jessica was walking towards a light gray Honda. Her fingertips touched the door handle.

"This is silly." Jessica chuckled nervously. She couldn't just leave them. After everything they've been through. She couldn't just leave.

Jessica's hand gripped the door handle and gave it a tug. The door opened with ease.

She got into the car and shut the door. She reached underneath the steering wheel and grabbed two wires. Jessica touched them together and sighed sadly as the engine started.

"But it's for the best." Jessica backed out of the parking spot her car was in and sped towards the exit. She saw Sam and Dean in her rearview mirror. Dean was shouting for her to stop, but Jessica wasn't going to.

She kept her foot on the gas and watched as Sam and Dean began to grow smaller and smaller as she got farther away from them.

"Why?" Dean ran his hands down his face. "Why the hell would she just leave like that?"

"Maybe something spooked her while we were in heaven." Sam shrugged his shoulders as he continued to pack his bag.

"Son of a bitch." Dean muttered.

"What?" Sam cocked a brow.

"It was Joshua." Dean stood up and shook his head. "Before you and I went on that suicide mission I told Jess why she had to stay here."

"Are you saying Joshua told Jessica something about her and Lucifer?" Sam asked.

"That's my guess." Dean closed his hands into fists. He wanted to throw something. He wanted to punch something. Dean just wanted to trash the whole place. But, he calmed himself down.

"We need to find her." Dean grabbed his bag off of his bed and headed towards the door.

"Dean," Sam shifted. He had to chose his words wisely. "If we take Jessica with us when we take down Lucifer, she could be in danger."

"Yeah I get that." Dean turned towards his brother. "But if we don't find her, she could be in more danger just by herself." Dean sighed. "I don't want to lose her. Not again. Not ever. We'll find Jessica and figure out a way for her to somehow resist Lucifer. Okay?"

Sam nodded his head.

"Let's go." Dean opened the door and stepped outside.

One month later.

Jessica tossed and turned in her bed. Then, she quickly sat up straight and gasped. Jessica sighed and realized she had had a nightmare.

Every night it was the same dream. Red glowing eyes. Dark smile. Fiery wings. Then Jessica would always see the world on fire.

Jessica's phone snapped her out of her trance as it rang. Time for work.

"Ugh." Jessica groaned and ran her hands down her face. She got out of bed and began to get ready.

Jessica closed the door to her motel room and walked towards her car. She unlocked the door and hopped in.

Jessica checked herself out in the rearview mirror and fixed her hair. Once she was ready, she put the key in the ignition and started the car.

"Off to work we go." Jessica sighed and headed towards the city.

The city of Chicago.

"Morning, Sarah!" Casandra waved at Jessica as she walked into work.

"Morning." Jessica smiled as she wiped down the counter of the bar.

"Hey," Casandra placed her coat on the hanger behind the counter. "Have you heard about the swine flu going around?"

"Oh?" Jessica stopped what she was doing and looked at her friend.

"Yeah, it's a crazy outbreak somewhere in the east."

"Glad it's not here." Jessica went back to her work.

"Yeah." Casandra sighed. "I'm gonna get a vaccine though. Just to play it safe."

"Good idea." Jessica said as she placed the rag over the sinks faucet.

"You ready for the lunch hour to roll in?" Casandra asked.

Jessica chuckled. "I'm ready."

~<•>~

The lunch rush wasn't bad. That is until two o'clock hit.

"My god." Jessica huffed. "I've never seen this place this busy." Jessica handed a glass to a man waiting at the bar.

"It's like the end of the world or something." Casandra smiled.

Jessica gave a nervous chuckle. "Yeah."

Casandra stood beside Jessica behind the counter.

"I'm ready to go home." Casandra sighed.

"Me too." Jessica chuckled.

"Oh wait a second." Casandra had a dreamy look in her eyes. Jessica looked in the direction of her friend and quickly turned to face the inventory.

"Sarah." Casandra was tapping her friend on the shoulder. "Take a look at these two."

"I'm good." Jessica muttered. Her hands were shaking a bit. How had they found her?!

"They're coming this way." Casandra squealed.

"Hi." The man's voice was soothing and a bit rough. "We're with the FBI. I'm detective Hotchner and this is my partner Leonardo." The bar stools creaked as the two sat down. "We're looking for this girl." Paper was placed onto the counter. "Have you seen her?"

"Is she dangerous?" Casandra asked.

"No." Leonardo replied. "She's just been missing for a month now. Her family is losing hope."

"I haven't seen her, sorry."

"What about you, miss?" Hotchner had his eyes on the girl stocking the inventory. He was already thinking about all of the pick up lines he could use on her.

"Haven't seen her." Jessica replied.

Hotchner scoffed.

"You didn't even look at the picture."

"Haven't seen her." Jessica grabbed a bottle and placed it on the middle shelf.

"Sarah." Casandra grabbed her friend's arm. "Just look at the picture."

Jessica sighed and cursed. She turned towards the two men and didn't even freeze. Dean and Sam both had wide eyes.

Jessica took the picture in her hands and then placed it back down.

"Like I said. I haven't seen her."

"Alright." Dean grabbed the picture quite quickly. "Thanks for your time."

"Anytime." Jessica watched as the two boys got up and left.

"You seemed like you knew those two." Casandra said.

"I've run into those boys before." Jessica sighed.
