The rest of the year had gone by in a blur. You had avoided me as much as you could, and you and Logan continued to date. I continued with my basketball, too. And I had listened to a lot of music.
Sometimes, every memory we had together would come rushing back to me. That usually happened during sleepless nights. I still had a hard time grasping the fact that you broke my heart during the summer before senior year… I mean, you couldn’t have picked a worse time.
One day, I had decided to be productive since it was already half-way through the school year. I logged onto my computer and researched on multiple colleges and courses since my mom had been bugging me about college and whatnot.
But honestly though, I didn’t want to attend college. High school was tough enough. Surely, you and Logan already had everything figured out… right?
My mom had gone into my room that day, and she talked to me about you. She asked me why I was so upset about losing something that wasn’t even mine in the first place. I had been quiet for a moment, then I told her:
“But I loved her. And it isn’t about me losing something that wasn’t mine… it’s about her letting go of something that will forever and always be hers.”
