"Miss. Mathews" Jamie said .
"Yes, jamie" I said looking up from my computer. "I'm stuck , I hate maths , it's shit" he said angrily . "Hey , no swearing" I said as I walked over to him .
"Yeah jamie , no swearing" Rebecca said from across the classroom . "Shut up Rebecca" Jamie snapped at her . "Jamie!" I said . "Sorry Miss, she pissed me off" he said frustrated.
"Alright show me what your confused about" I said .
I became a teacher. I like it here . I moved up to Florida . I'm 22 now. Damn. Where did the time go. I met a guy . Jake . He's nice . He treats me right but he knows so little about me . So very little.
"Bye" my students said as they all clumped out the door. My day was over . "Hey Ella , how are you?" Bridgett asked . "I'm fine"I said packing my stuff .
"Ok just checking" she said walking out .
I walked home . It was so hot here but it was quiet too . Not like my old town .
Anyways I reached my house . "Hey babe" Jake said placing plates on the table . "Hey...you made dinner" I questioned curiously. "Yeah" he smiled happily. "Thanks" I smiled as I kissed his cheek. "How was work" I asked him . "I got this today" he said taking his shirt off . He had a massive scrape down his back . "Ouch" I said touching it . "Yeah, I leaned against a wall and fell" he said . I started laughing .
"You got that from falling" I giggled. "Yeah, why, is it not manly enough for you" he said grabbing me and kissing me roughly .
I pushed him away . "Not tonight" I said . "Awh come on" he said as he kept going . "I said not tonight" I said sternly pushing him back . "What's up with you" he said angrily. "You don't want to have to sex , you don't want to kiss me , but you don't want to be alone" he said annoyed . "Yeah exactly" I said rolling my eyes as I popped a beer open .
"And not to mention you get drunk , every single night" he said . He stormed into our room and he slammed the door . Fucking childish . I looked at the beer bottle. Ashton broke me. He broke my trust , he broke my love , he broke my heart and I hate him for it . I looked at the tv.
Today on the 8pm news , the mafia leader Christian Carter has been found murdered. Police are looking into it . We got a few statements off his sons" the news reporter spoke .
"I am completely devastated by what has happened" Jase said . Fucking douchebag .
"I'm going to miss him" Dylan said as he cried . Pretty sure he was crying tears of joy .
"There is no statement from Ashton Carter as he is unavailable at the moment due to his wedding" Maria said . I looked at the screen in shock .
"Last but definitely not least Mason Carter, his adoptive son" the woman spoke .
"I'm going to miss my dad" Mason spoke.
He looked so much bigger . He was , what , 7 now . He grew up beautiful.
But I think I was scared by those words . I stared at the screen in a trance . "The Carters" Jake said walking back in . "There monsters" he said shaking his head as he sat down . "Trust me , I know" I said taking another sip of beer .
Now I realized why my dad was always drunk . I'll never understand why he abused me but I understand why he's a drunk now . When your drunk , life's a lot easier to handle. It's like when your drink , life becomes bearable for a second .
"How did that fucker get a girl like that" Jake said pulling me out of my thoughts . "Huh" I said staring at the screen .
I seen Ashton in a suit , standing there . But I knew he wasn't happy . I knew he didn't want to do this . I seen the girl walk down the isle. It was fucking Veronica. "What the fuck" I said angrily . "Your a bit judgmental" Jake said putting his hand on my thigh . "Judgmental , Nah , I just know she is" I said as I watched her face light up but then dim down as she seen Ashton had no expression staring at her . He was empty.
He looked directly at the camera . It's like he knew I was watching him . He shook his head in sadness .
"Well Ashton doesn't look to happy right now" the news lady joked .
Little did she know , she was dead right .
"Of course he's not fucking happy , you stupid cunt" I snapped . "Okay what the fuck is wrong with you" Jake said angrily . "What do you mean" I said instantly calming down . "Your acting like you know him and her . You don't" Jake snapped .
"Oh trust me , you have no idea" I said taking another sup out of my beer bottle . A tear ran down my face . I can't help it . It hurts .
"I do" she said . I seen Ashton look worriedly . Then his phone rang . He answered it .
"Wait he answered his phone , in the middle of his wedding" the news reporter said weirded out.
He looked up in realization that his father was dead . He hadn't been told yet. Ashton looked at the woman . "I don't" he said as walked off the isle .
"Wait what the fuck" Jake said . "I knew he'd do it" I smiled happy for him. "Okay , you don't know him , you keep making these weird remarks about knowing them , but you don't" Jake snapped angrily. "See Mason Carter" I said pointing at the screen . "Yeah so what" Jake said frustrated and confused. "His real name is Mason Smith" I said sipping my beer. Jake looked confused for a minute. "Wait so you have your child to monsters" he said shocked .
"Nah , I got sold when I was like 17 , fell in love with Ashton , took my little brother Mason with me away from my abusive , alcoholic father , and almost got killed by them" I said summarizing it . He stared at me wide eyed and then starting laughing hysterically.
He eventually noticed I wasn't laughing . "Wait your not laughing" he said worriedly . "Mm ever wonder where the alcohol gene comes from" I said winking at him . He just looked at me in shock .
