"Get back! Get back! Get back to where you once belonged!" I shouted, throwing my head back. I was having a full out Beatles jam session in my now almost empty room. I was leaving my last camp of the summer, and by far the best. The two weeks I spent here in San Francisco were some of the best days of my life. I made some of the greatest friends ever. As the song finished up, I finished zippering up my extremely large suitcase. The room was officially barren now, and it was kind of depressing. My roommate had left the day before, because her district started school early. I found it weird a school could start in the middle of August. I pulled my headphones out of my ears and put them in my carry-on. It was going to be a long flight back to Maryland. I was about to carry my stuff out of the room when my phone vibrated. It was a text from Jake, one of my best friends I had made,

"Julia! Get ur butt down here! Evan's leaving RIGHT NOW!

And he said he wont luv u anymore if you dont say bye."

I laughed at this. Evan was another one of my great friends I made over the weeks, and he had grown to be like a big brother to me. I quickly looked in the mirror before running down to the lobby. I had on denim shorts that went just above the knee, and a dark blue shirt that read, "Can't keep a ninja down" in pink lettering. My brown hair was down, as it most always was, and it fell just above my shoulders. My blue eyes were highlighted well with my brown eyeliner. I was wearing flip flops, which I preferred, but didn't help with the fact that I was only 5'1". That's pretty small for a fourteen-year-old girl. Satisfied enough with my appearance, I quickly dashed out of my room, through the hallway, and down the stairs. I was very lucky that my room had been on the third floor, because there was only one elevator and it took forever. When I reached the lobby, I quickly found my group of friends. Some of them had gone home already, except for Jake, Evan, Zoe, David and I.

"Hey guys, how's it going?" I asked, walking over to them. They all turned to look at me when Evan completely tackled me into a big bear hug. "Gosh, Evan, trying to kill me much?" I asked, taken back at first.

"Juuuuuliaaaa! I'm gonna miss you!" he said in a whinny voice, pretending to be crying the whole time.

"You'll get over it," I said, pulling back and smiling. He smiled back and gave me one more quick hug before pulling back into his place in the group. I went to stand next to Jake and Zoe. Jake was freakishly tall compared to me; he was probably a good seven inches taller than me. He had dark brown hair and the typical styled boy hair-cut, where he would flick his head to get it out of his eyes. I made fun of him saying he looked like that Biber kid, who I did not particularly like. He had the deepest shade of brown eyes I had ever seen, and they were gorgeous on him. Zoe, on the other hand, was smaller than me. I'm pretty sure she was small enough to be a legal midget. But she was tough; ever say that to her and you were in for a beating. She had bleach blonde hair and a pixie-styled hair cut, which matched wonderfully with her light blue eyes. Zoe and I had formed quite the bond over the past two weeks. Standing directly opposite me was Evan, who could've been Jake's clone, except for the fact that he had dark green eyes and might have been a little shorter. And to his right, standing next to Zoe, was David. David was the "class clown" of the camp, if you will. He always knew how to make me laugh. He was shorter than Evan, but a couple inches taller than me. He was tan to the max and had very short black hair. I don't really know what color his eyes really are, because he had over fifteen pairs of colored contacts just to change them up. Today though, they were a light brown.

"So now I've really gotta get going guys, I guess I'll talk to you later," Evan said, picking up his bag and heading towards the doors. We all shouted our good-byes to him, and I added the fact that he needs to make it priority to text me. He just laughed and walked out the door, where his family was standing. He lived somewhere nearby, so his parents could just pick him up. I turned back to the other three of my friends remaining. I was getting a little teary-eyed, this was the fifth friend we had seen leave today, and Erin, my roommate, left yesterday.

"What, is Julia gonna cry now? Again?" David asked, sticking his lip out like he was sad. I just shoved him.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know having emotions was a crime these days," I stated, looking irritated.

"Oh, you know I love you," he said, giving me a quick hug.

"Yeah," I said, smiling, shrugging it off. Zoe looked like she was about to speak up when an announcement came through the lobby,

"Any flights departing between eleven and twelve, your shuttle is leaving in fifteen minutes," the voice said.

"Crap, that's me," I mumbled. "I've got to go get my bags, meet you guys back here in five," I said, turning around and making my way back up the stairs. I had just made it into my room and laid on the bed to take a five second breather when a knock came at my door. This made me start singing,

"Someone's knocking at the door! Somebody's ringing the bell! Won't you do me a favor, open the door, and let 'em iiiiin!" one of the lines from a Paul McCartney song. I heard the person on the other side of the door chuckle as I opened the door. It was Jake.

"Hey Jake, what's up?" I asked, turning back around to get my bags. I was kind of surprised to see him here, because guys weren't allowed on girl floors and vice versa. But that didn't stop our entire group of friends from sneaking up to David's room last night at two am to watch Avatar on the tv he had brought. Still, he was at risk of being caught. Jake cleared this throat and started,

"I wanted to do something before you left, because I've been wanting to for almost the entire time we've been here, and since you live in Maryland and I live in Jersey I didn't know if I'd ever see you again, and,"

"Jake!" I said, turning back around and cutting off his rambling fest. "What is it?" All of a sudden, he rushed over to me, gave me a huge hug, and pulled back, his arms still around my waist. We had some serious eye contact going on when he said,

"This," and leaned in and gave me a small peck on the lips. When he pulled back, he was smiling, and I'm sure there was a big goofy smile on my face as well. I leaned my head up against his chest, or as far up to his chest as my head would go against his huge body, and returned his hug. I looked back up at him and it appeared to me he was beginning to lean in for another kiss when someone in the hallway shouted,

"JULIA! Hurry up," which sent Jake scrambling underneath my bed. I sighed, the moment being ruined, but also couldn't help but laugh a little at the way Jake went running under the bed. I went to open the door, and found Zoe in the hallway, smiling at me.

"Hey, just so you know, you better hurry up cause Jake was looking for you and," she started, but I cut her off.

"Yeah, he's in here," I said, nodding towards my room. "Jake, its Zoe, come out," I said, behind my shoulder. Jake crawled out from underneath the bed and stood next to me, itching the back of his head.

"Umm, yeah, I'll see you two in a bit," he mumbled, walking out of my room and through the hallway. Zoe went into my room, sitting on the bed, and asked,

"What was that all about?" Zoe asked, smiling. Zoe was a good friend, and there really was no point in lying to her, so I just came out with the truth.

"He kissed me," I stated, as if it was an everyday thing, which trust me, it most definitely was not. I had only ever kissed one other guy.

"Well finally," she said, rolling her eyes and standing up.

"What do you mean finally?"

"Well Evan told me a couple of days ago that Jake has liked you since practically day one, and he's been trying to man up enough to tell you. And he said he really wanted to kiss you before you left. I really wasn't surprised about any of it, because anyone could plainly see that he liked you. Well, of course, except for you, I guess, which makes this seem like a cheesy romance novel."

"Oh. OH. Yay!" was all I could say. Zoe just smiled and walked out of the room. I gathered up my bags and headed out, towards the elevator. There was no way I could carry my bags down the stairs. But I guess the elevator wasn't much better. I pressed the button, and to my surprise, the light above it flashed a matter of seconds later. I was smiling as the elevator opened, but that smile was short lived.

"BOO!" someone shouted, making me scream and fall back. When I got up, I saw David hunched over in the elevator, clutching his stomach and laughing.

"You, should, have, seen, your, face," he managed to get out between laughs.

"Ha ha, very funny," I said, getting into the elevator and standing next to him. He had composed himself by now, and was just giving me a funny look, like he wanted to ask me something.

"Spit it out, genius," I told him.

"Has Jake...." He trailed off. I immediately knew what he meant. Gosh, was I really the last person to find out about this? I just gave him a small smile, and he returned it with a big one of his own, and nudged me in the shoulder, going,

"Huh, huh, huh?" raising his eyebrows.

"If what you mean by that is 'Did he kiss you,' then yes," I simply stated, turning my head forward.

"Ha ha, way to go Jake!"

By then, we had reached the lobby, and the elevator doors opened. David and I got out and walked over to where Jake and Zoe were standing.

"Way to go, Jake!" David said, patting him on the back. Jake gave him a sheepish smile in return, and I looked away, positive there was a blush making its way to my face. David and Zoe smiled at each other, and when I was sure the blush on my face had decreased, I looked up.

"The next shuttle will be deporting in five minutes," a voice said over the loudspeaker.

"Well, I guess this is good-bye, Julia. Love you girl, I gotta go pack," Zoe said, walking over and giving me a hug. "Text me the dets of you know what," she whispered in my ear, and I just laughed. Zoe said another quick bye and skipped off to her room, not before giving Jake a strange look.

"Yeah, same here, Jules, love yah," David said, giving me a hug and walking away. "ENJOY YOUR ALONE TIME!" he shouted over his shoulder, making me blush again. I looked up at Jake to see he looked embarrassed too, which was expected seeing as basically everyone in the lobby was looking at us.

"What was that look Zoe gave you all about?" I asked, desperately wanted to know. I was confused as poo, as I like to say.

"What, jealous we might have something going on?" he said with a smirk.

"If I remember correctly mister, YOU kissed ME," I said back.

"Yeah, I guess I did."

"So what was that about again?"

"Oh yeah, she told me I hurt you and I die." I laughed.

"And she's completely serious, so you better not hurt me!" I said, smiling.

"Don't plan on it," he said, smiling back before giving me a kiss. This one was just as short as the one before, making me pout as he pulled away.

"Sorry I didn't plan on making out with you in the lobby, a very PUBLIC place," he replied, pulling me into a hug.

"Bye, Jake."

"Bye, Julia."

"Text me?"

"Working on it as we speak," he answered as he pulled away from me to take his phone out. We both laughed and shared a quick hug before I had to walk out the front doors to catch my shuttle to the airport. I boarded the shuttle first, and it quickly filled with other kids from the camp. The camp was for kids ages 11-18, so there was quite the variety of people on the shuttle. As it pulled away, the last thing I saw of the building was Jake waving to me from a window in the lobby. As soon as he was out of sight, I looked down at my phone to see I had four texts, all from Jake:

"Miss you already."

"A lot."

"Were video chatting when we get home, fyi."

"Miss you."

I smiled and worked on my reply, which consisted of me saying I missed him more, yes to video chatting, and more telling him I missed him. I looked out the window, sighing in content. This day had been one of the saddest, yet happiest of all of my life.
