Chapter 50- Invitation

~

Author's Pov:

"I-if she was live life would be so different Kiaan." The words slipped out of her mouth causing her to smile but also cry at the same time. Smile because her mother would be alive, living happily with her father. Sad because if Ishaani was alive, Jaanvi wouldn't be here. One way or another, she would suffer.

"It would be." He agreed, moving his hand from her waist, to his face to wipe the tears away without her knowing. He sighed smelling her hair, "Your father would be happy but not me. You wouldn't be here than." It was as if he understood what she was thinking about. Like he could read her mind with some magical powers.

She lightly chuckled a little, holding him tightly in her arms. "moving her hand from her waist, to his face to wipe the tears away without her knowing. He sighed smelling her hair, "Your father would be happy but not me. You wouldn't be here than." It was as if he understood what she was thinking about. Like he could read her mind with some magical powers.

She lightly chuckled a little, holding him tightly in her arms. "Yeah because you wouldn't have some idiot like me annoying you twenty-four seven since childhood." He laughed at her words, lightly hitting her back in response. "Bu-but maybe. Just maybe, you might have m-married another Jaanvi. My mother's other child instead of me."

It stung. Stung her a lot as she spat the words into his face. It was going to come true but even the thought of seeing him married to someone else burnt her heart and soul. But I wouldn't ever witness it because I wouldn't be alive. She was right, if he had married Ishaani and Ansh's other child Jaanvi wouldn't have existed to see him drift away from her.

"I don't want anyone, except you Jaanvi." He whispered back harshly, clearly pissed off from her views. How could she be selfish to only think about her family? He wanted only her, the sentence itself was enough to send shivers down her body. She flinched a little in his arms, feeling his grip tightening around her firmly. "Who are you to decide who I'd marry?" He gritted his teeth, closing his eyes to calm himself down.

"Your wife." She replied, smiling at his possessiveness. "But imagine Kiaan, another Jaanvi and maybe even an Ishaan? My mother liked the name Jaanvi for a girl and hero liked Ishaan, aren--" her blabbering was interrupted by his harsh push on her.

She wasn't in his arms anymore. He moved away from her, standing with his back facing her. "Shut up! Just fucken shut up!" he yelled, causing her to flinch from his tone. His muscles looked tense, from the way he moved his hands she was aware of his anger. "We aren't talking about something that is impossible!" he murmured, stalking towards the bedroom door. Stopping in his track, he looked back at Jaanvi who stared at him with teary eyes, "And I'm glad it's impossible."

He didn't even liked the thought of marrying Ansh's other child if Jaanvi was killed inside her mother's womb. He hated the feeling that was running inside his body. She was talking about something which made no sense. If she wasn't alive it meant many things. No quitting alcohol, no self-realisation on many view points and it meant something very important, no fun childhood.

The one thing he loves and appreciates about his childhood was Jaanvi's pranks, facial expressions, and her teasing. It all made it special. Yes of course, maybe if Ishaani had another child after her miscarriage with Jaanvi was more fun than this Jaanvi he's still want to be with her.

Because she was different. She was imperfect just like him. She was enough for him.

He was sitting on the couch, breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, and breathe out. Repeating the same thing in his head over and over again, he sighed massaging his dead. Why does she need to bring it all up? What he feared the most was his anger. Losing himself in an argument he didn't want to do something he'd regret in future and definitely not something related to Jaanvi.

Maybe I overrea-Kiaan was ready to apologise when the doorbell rang. Standing up from his place he walked over to the door, opening it wide to meet the people he least expected a visit from right now.

"Well, hello, hello, hello Mr married man." Aarav smiled, pushing Kiaan's shoulder gently, making his way inside the house. Aarav's anger on his friend was long gone, he believed in moving on. Kiaan made mistakes, he did as well, what mattered to Aarav was whether he'll learn from it or not. When the old friend found out Kiaan was trying to quit alcohol, he was over the moon.

"What the fuck?" Kiaan was shocked, standing still on his spot looking at his friends.

"Uh, dude. I know my parents said the exact same words after I was born but you could be little nicer? I ain't that ugly." Reyansh rolled his eyes, moving inside the house. "Our house is still the same! I thought Jaanvi will make it all pink and purple."

"I imagined those colours on Kiaan's face to be honest." Aarav replied, laughing as he sat down on the couch. "I'm surprised and glad that you're alive." He pointed at Kiaan, "My strong buddy!"

"Where's dead bird?" Reyansh nearly shouted looking around the house.

"Sh--" Kiaan started to speak when Jaanvi came out. She wore a red simple kurta, (Indian outfit) her hair tied in a messy bun while washing her face a few minutes ago. She came in front looking more shocked than Kiaan seeing Aarav and Reyansh in front of her.

"Hi." She smiled. "D-dead bird?" her confused and suspicious gaze travelled to Kiaan first, watching him carefully with her narrowed eyes. He gulped down his saliva, praying his friends wouldn't tell her anything. Moving her gaze from her husband she looked at Reyansh standing a few inch away from her and Aarav sitting on the couch like it's his own house. "Where is the dead bird?"

"I-I, u-uhh, i-it--" Reyansh stuttered trying really hard to come up with an excuse.

"It's-" Aarav stood up from the couch. He looked around the house to help adding to his made up story. His eyes fell on the balcony making him smiling a little. "Balcony. Go, go check" she nodded quickly, walking to the balcony.

Hey lord, please don't let me witness a dead bird in my house. She prayed biting her lower lip. Looking around the space she didn't even see a feather. "It's not here." She raised her voice so they could hear her.

"Really?" Aarav muttered walking into the balcony. "Maybe this time it serious was dead." He laughed, making Jaanvi blink.

"Excuse me?"

"Uh, Jaanvi, please make tea for us." Kiaan called out. She nodded walking to the kitchen not before giving Aarav an awkward smile.

His friends are weird.

"I will fu-" Kiaan yells but stops from Reyansh's voice.

"Ha, ha, go on yell! Yell so the whole world can find out what you're saying."

"Right." Kiaan muttered, walking to Aarav. "I will fucken murder you! And you Reyansh! What if Jaan found out?" he whispered glaring at his friends.

"She will find out ev--"

"Reyansh stop." Aarav muttered. He looked at Kiaan, up and down making the married man uncomfortable. "You, my friend." He points his finger on Kiaan's shoulder, pushing him back. "Called her Jaan." (life)

"Oh teri" Reyansh nearly shouts, his mouth turning into a giant O. (Oh my---it kinda means something like that. You use 'Oh Teri' when you're shocked)

He looked everywhere expect his friends. He noticed the clouds above him, the flower pot on the side of the balcony which he never realised were there before. "Who got these?" He asked gazing at the flowers.

"Nidhi." Reyansh smiled but his smile faded away quickly seeing Aarav's clenched jaw. Noticing the awkward and angry atmosphere Kiaan changed the topic.

"What brings you idiots here?" He questioned, walking inside the house now sitting on the couch.

"Tina." Aarav mutters harshly. Not because he doesn't like Tina but because those flowers reminded him of Nidhi, his ex-girlfriend.

Kiaan starts coughing loudly at the mention of Tina. His cough was heard by Jaanvi who held a tray with coffee mugs in her hand.

"I'll get you water." She quickly mutters, putting the tray on the table.

"No, leave it." Reyansh replied not breaking his eye contact from Kiaan. "Even water wouldn't help him with what we're about to say." His ton became serious all of a sudden making Jaanvi unaware of the whole conversation.

"Tine held a party tonight." Aarav broke the uncomfortable silent surrounding them all. "She's invited us all."

"All?" Jaanvi questioned, sitting next to Kiaan as she passed him the tea. Her eyes found his face waiting for him to speak but his jaw had hardened not uttering a single word.

"Yes, all."

"Aarav who all exactly?" she was getting irritated but decided to hide it within herself.

"All of our friends, including you guys a-and-" Reyansh stopped mid-way, taking a sip of his tea he finished of looking down at his lap, "Nidhi."

A frustrated sigh was noticed by everyone in the room given by Aarav. He shut his eyes closed as if trying to forget something horrible that might have happened to him in the past. Being a curious person Jaanvi wanted to question further on but stopped seeing Kiaan's face.

He looked, worried? Really, really worried?

Who was this Nidhi?
