The leaves crunched beneath my feet as I walked through the forest. My chest heaving after running from the kingdom. I looked behind me in constant paranoia that the soldiers would somehow catch up and take me back. I couldn't go back there, not after all the hell they put me through, I just couldn't.
I limped toward a tree and rested my weight against it while taking a look at my leg. I cringed at the large gash that had gone along my thigh when I fell during the chase. I tore a piece of my sleeve off and tied it around the wound to slow the bleeding. Once I finished I rested my head against the tree, shutting my eyes and letting out a sigh. After I felt more composed and somewhat re-energized, I pushed myself off the tree. My bare feet continued to lead me into the darkness as I wandered around. I ducked and moved through bushes and trees until I stumbled upon a lake. I was beyond the point of exhaustion.
By this point, my legs were shaking violently and so was my body, they soon gave out on me and I fell to the ground with a grunt. Holding myself up with my arms, I crawled towards the water that glistened in the moonlight. I could feel myself slowly becoming more and more heavily from the overwhelming feeling of exhaustion. My throat felt extremely dry and I willed myself to push my body closer to the water hoping to at least cure my dehydrated symptoms.
When I reached my hand out to the water, light from across the lake came slowly towards my direction, stopping in the middle of the lake. My eyes began to feel heavy but I willed myself to keep them open, and the most unbelievable thing before me occurred.
It was a girl walking on top of the water, well not really JUST walking, but, more like she was dancing. I didn't think it was possible. Now I've seen it all.
Her arms and legs moved fluidly with the sound of the night wind as if becoming apart of the breeze herself. She slid her arms slowly down towards the surface of the water, her fingertips barely grazed the glistening waters. My already fatigued body felt like it had begun creating these hallucinations because this was all just a bit too unreal for me. Convincing me more that this was all in my head was the sight of her lifting her hands into the night-sky, the water below her had followed behind the movement of her hand, abandoning the large body of water. The water took the shape of a snake and pursued her every move, doing exactly what she did. She continued with the same movements until she had a swarm of them surrounding her in a seemingly endless pattern of crisscrosses, creating a grand sphere of water around her body. Small lights escaped from their hiding spots behind the trees in the forest and floated towards her figure. They illuminated the girl's silhouette, finally showing her face. She was more than just beautiful, she was also extremely adorable but that was beside the point. Her cute button nose, creamy brown eyes, and bangs that all complimented her perfectly shaped face seemed godly. Her facial features had a certain glow to them in the light that if anyone saw them, they wouldn't be able to look away.
My eyelids were heavy with drowsiness, my hand only managed to make it to the edge of the water. The cold liquid touched my fingertips, I looked up, hoping to get one last look at this dream, not wanting to let it go. I could see her, looking at me. She stopped everything, she wasn't dancing or anything-just looking at me.
And like that, I was out.

I woke up to a strange thick feeling around my body like I was covered in something cold and heavy. Like water.
The only warmth came from a pair of unknown arms wrapped around my waste. I was still sleepy so I didn't think too much of it as I gently unwrapped the arms from me. I noticed that my hair was different and by different- I mean it was moving on its own. A quiet snore sounded in the room and I turned in the bed to see a girl, she had been the one whose arms were wrapped over mine. I felt scared. I didn't know what was going on or where I even was for that matter.
Looking down at my thigh, I remembered the gash I got when I was running through the woods. A chill ran down my spine when Isaw that my thigh had been completely healed up, not even a scar was left.
I scoffed in disbelief before looking back up only to jump back in surprise, seeing a fish flying-no- swimming around my head then through an open window. My jaw was left ajar as it all finally started connecting in my head and making sense.
I stuck my head out through the window-there it was.
A whole city-no- a palace right before my eyes, underwater. The people looked like ants from here but I could still see that this was all just apart of their everyday lives. The light from above the waters shined through, giving the palace a bright glare. Sea creatures swam around everywhere too, minding their business. I turned back towards the girl who was still sound asleep, walking over to her. Brushing her hair to the side, I could easily recognize the girl as the one who had been dancing on top of the water earlier before I passed out.
She started whining as she began to wake up, she slowly opened her eyes and adjusted them on me. A gleam sparkled over her once she saw that it was me in front of her.
A squeal left my mouth when I was enveloped in two arms and thrown onto the bed with a weight laying on top of me. I looked up, feeling my eyes get wider than ever as I saw the girl staring straight down at me with a smile on her face. Noticing that our bodies were flush against each other, she blushed and looked away for a few seconds before slowly inching even closer, up to the point where our noses began to touch.
I was secretly hoping she wasn't able to feel how hard my heartbeat was beating against my chest for her. I still didn't even know her name or where I was, but I was still oddly comfortable with it all.
"I'm Yuqi..." She said her voice coming out as smooth as velvet.
"y/n." It came out more flatly than I intended it to but, I was still too caught up with the whole situation that I still couldn't process anything.
She then lifted herself off of me to stand up at the foot of the bed, her hand reaching out towards mine. The sight was pretty bizarre yet beautiful.
Yuqi smiling softly down at me with her hand towards me and her hair floating around her in gentle waves. Her eyes shaped into little crescent moons as her smile grew even wider when I accepted her hand and stood next to her.
A warm feeling filled my chest as our hands interlaced. I never felt this type of wanted attention, well I always have at the kingdom but it was for all the wrong reasons. They wanted to marry me off to someone I didn't love or sell me to another kingdom to form an alliance. The idea was sickening, yet here, I was faced with a million contradictions of my life.
"I want to show you my home." She said while pulling me through her room.
We left through the front door hand in hand. I didn't notice it at first but once I did I could feel myself blushing, and what made it worse was the fact that I couldn't stop. She looked back at me to reassure that I was ok only to giggle at my very flustered state.
Yuqi squeezed my hand a little to comfort me, encouraging me to continue our path.
Like it was nothing to her, she floated herself up into the air-water I mean. Following what she did, we began to swim around her kingdom.

"You don't look sad anymore." She said.
We both decided to take a break at a nearby park, under a kelp forest that way no one could really bother us.
"What makes you say that?"
"I can feel it." With that, she took my hand and led me to her legs, laying me down in between her where she circled both her hands around my waist.
My cheeks felt hot at all the skin to skin contact but I wasn't going to remove myself from her either. I was more than comfortable with her, which I didn't know if I should be worried or not, I did just meet the girl today after all.
After what seemed like decades of peaceful silence I decided to finally ask the question that's been bugging me ever since I woke up here.
"So...why did you bring me down here?" She was silent for a few more seconds in thought, reaching for my hands to play with my fingers.
"I could feel the pain in your soul, you were struggling, not just physically but also mentally. And, when I saw you almost unconscious at the edge of my waters, I had to help you. Yet, when I looked at you and I felt you, I saw much worse of what they had done to you at that place." My jaw clenched at the memory, knowing she referred to the kingdom.
"And I wanted to take that pain away from you."She finished.
Without realizing it, I had mumbled a small thank you while turning my head over my shoulder to face her, our noses practically touching. I could feel her hot breath hit my face somehow, even if it was just water. My heart was beating erratically. She looked so majestic in this scenery, light shined from above in little waves creating a glint in her eye as she smiled down at me.
I looked away from her out of utter stupidity, thinking that maybe it was just me having these out of place feelings for someone I just met, I hoped that she'd stop me from embarrassment.
"I-I I'm sorry I just kinda spaced out, and y-you just look so beautiful that I-"I was cut off by a pair of lips being pressed into mine, muffling my excuse.
I closed my eyes, letting my body fall weak to her touch. Yuqi cupped my jaw and pulled me closer to her only to pull away and rest her forehead against mine.
She smiled cheekily at me as I did the same, feeling all sorts of giddy inside. I don't know what came over me but in a somewhat rash decision, this time I pulled her into another kiss, shifting myself so that I sat on her lap. The kiss was a bit more intense, still sweet and soft but with a bit more want. I seemed to catch her off guard because of her hands being awkwardly laid on the sand when I wanted them on me. I pulled away slightly to catch our breath but at the same time sliding her arms gently to wrap around the back of my waist. At this, she pulled me flush against her body and rested her head in between my neck, laying a soft kiss against my bare shoulder. I stroked her hair in a soothing pattern and began to think how crazy this all was.
I just met her today, and I'm already borderline past any borders that two strangers would have for each other.
It just felt so right to be with her, here, in her kingdom she called home. I could never go back.
"Will you go back to your kingdom?" Her voice sent a vibration in my chest, I could feel the sadness leak from the question.
I stopped stroking her hair halfway to think for a second, then continued again.
"I think this kingdom is more suitable for me." I felt her smile against my neck with a sigh of relief as she squeezed my waist a little.
"Then it's all yours, y/n."

A/N- I know i haven't been updating this book but I have a LOT of drafts, so now that summers approaching I'll be updating a lot more now hopefully anyways hope y'all enjoyed;))
