You were excited to hang out with your best friend Sawyer.
Since he became a big YouTuber, he had been travelling a lot and you two barely had the chance to hang out.
Thank God for Skype and text messaging.
But you two had a habit of calling each other late at night, every night and falling asleep on the phone.
Today, Sawyer wanted to take you to the beach at night.
He said he had a surprise, which left you a little anxious, but you trusted him.
He would never hurt you.
You slipped on your bathing suit and a cool summer dress to cover it.
You packed some beach things in a bag and waited for a text from Sawyer.
Your phone went off a few minutes later.
‘Out front. -Sawyer’
You walked out of your house and climbed into Sawyer's car.
“Hey, Sawyer,” you said, kissing his cheek.
“Hey, Reagan,” he smiled.
He started driving, while you held his hand.
You turned your head away to face the window.
You had a crush on your best friend, but you stayed quiet to keep the secret.
You were sure that you would ruin your friendship.
You believed that you would rather have him as just a friend rather than not at all.
When you got to the beach, you and Sawyer went to “The Spot”. That was a place where only the two of you would hang out. It was always empty and had a beautiful view of the rest of the beach.
You noticed rose petals tossed around neatly and a blanket already laid out with a picnic basket. There were also some lanterns holding the blanket down.
You gave Sawyer a confused glance.
He blushed and gave you a nervous smile.
“Reagan, I have a confession. Tonight was supposed to be a date. You’ve been my best friend since forever and I love you for that. But for a while now, I have loved you as more. And I would appreciate it if you would agree to be my girlfriend?” he asked, “But I would also understand if you just left.”
You were blushing furiously, but a wave of confidence overcame you and you sat on the blanket.
Sawyer beamed at you and plopped down next to you.
“Thank you, Reagan,” he said, kissing your hand.
You just laughed.
“I have felt the same way for a while, so it wasn’t that hard of a decision,” you admitted.
You two shared a picnic and when you were done, you stripped to you bathing suits.
Sawyer picked you up and tossed you over his shoulder.
“Sawyer!” you squealed in surprise.
He just laughed and tossed you into the water.
You shivered and grinned evilly as you jumped on his back and brought him into the water with you.
You both laughed and had a water fight before sitting together on the sand.
You watched the sun set.
“So, what do you think, Reagan? Are we going to make it?” he asked you.
You kissed him.
“I know so.”
