As soon as I arrived at that place, all eyes were on me! I don't blame them either! I mean I wasn't dressed for the place. Who wears a heavy anarkali suit to a freaking beach? Well Nandini Murthy does! I decided to ignore the stares of the strangers and started looking for my man. The beach, a place where both of us felt at peace! Whenever we're upset, we come to the beach. The beach was super busy this evening but I knew exactly where Manik would be. I ran to that place, my heels digging into the wet sand. Urgh! I screamed as I bent down to take my heels off and lift my dress up slightly so it does not get dirty. I took the heels in my hand and started to run again. I felt like I was in some sort of a Bollywood movie, a lost girl searching for the love of her life. As soon as I reached the place, I saw him! He was sat under the palm tree staring into the sea.
"I knew you'd be here!" I said as I came closer to Manik. I was breathing heavily due to all the running.
"Nandini! How do you always manage to chase me down?" He said still looking towards the sea.
"It's not rocket science Malhotra! If you really want to get away from me then find a better place!" I said with a smirk.
"I wish!" He said as he rolled his eyes.
"Excuse me! So you do want to get away from me! Well guess what, you won't be able to! Not today! Not tomorrow! Not this month!Not this year! Never! I'm always going to be there irritating you as your best friend or as your girlfriend. So Malhotra if you decide to break up with me because well I don't know you might get bored of me then I'll still stay there to annoy you as your best friend!" I said rambling on without realising what I was actually saying.
"And what makes you think I'm going to break up with you?" He said with a stern face.
"I don't know! I mean maybe you won't be able to stand my tantrums, my childishness, my over protectiveness, my..." I started to list the reasons when he interrupted me.
"Let's break up!" He said firmly.
"Okay cool... wait what? Break up? Are you mad? Why? You're joking right?" I realised what he said and loaded him with questions.
"No let's break up!" He stated with a serious face. So he wasn't joking.
"Manik but why? What have I done? Manik please if it's because I ate your chocolates then I'm sorry. If it's because I made you watch SRK movies I'm sorry. If it's because I forcefully put make up on you the other day I'm sorry. If it's because...."
"Shut up Nandini! Mazaak kar rahaa hun!" He exclaimed shutting me up.
"What? Mazaak? Aisa mazaak kon kartaa hai? Listen aisa ghatiya mazaak mere saath mat karnaa!" I said in relief.
"Exactly! Aisa gathiya mazaak mat karo! How can you even think I'll break up with you Nandini? How can you think I'll ever get bored of you? You're the best thing to happen to me! Your tantrums, your over protectiveness, your cringy SRK movies, your childishness, it's all my favourite because it includes you! So please don't you ever think about breaking up with me!" Manik said softly as he held on to both my hands firmly to imply that I was his and only his. I simply nodded my head.
"Manik why are we so sentimental?" I asked.
"Aray yaar! Stop ruining the moment!" He said as he let go off me.
"No no no no! I'm not gonna ruin the moment! Here hold me! Hold me naa!" I said as I grabbed his hands and put them on my waist. He stared at me in disbelief and I gave him a What stare.
"Hold me properly naa!" I said with irritation and he pulled me towards him.
"Is this better?" He asked with a smirk.
"Closer!" I said with a sly smile.
"Aur paas?" He said as he pulled me super close to him. There was no gap left between us. His hands were snaked around my waist and my hands on his chest. Our eyes were locked with each others.
"Aur paas!" I said as I slowly wrapped my hands around his neck and reached up to place a kiss on his cheek. He bent down and kissed my bare neck. I gripped onto his hair as he planted soft kisses on my neck. He then rested his head on my shoulder and kept me close in a bear hug. I slowly lifted my head and reached for his forehead. I had to tiptoe because he was ever so tall. I placed a kiss on his forehead and then his cheek. I then reached for his lips. He cupped my face and I his. Our lips were millimetres apart. I started to initiate the kiss when I heard Manik mumble.
"Nandini!" He mumbled slowly.
"Hmmmm." I whispered back.
"Koi dekhle gaa toh!" He said.
"What the f**k?" I said as I stepped back and stared at him.
"Language Nandini! We're in a public place! We can't be showing PDA here right? And anyways you don't like PDA then why today."
"PDA!" I said with gritted teeth.
"Aray PDA! PDA nahi pataa? Public display of affection! PDA!" He explained like an idiot that he is.
"Idiot! Of course I know what PDA stands for! But who gives a damn! I'm not kissing somebody else's boyfriend! I'm kissing mine!" I said with irritation visible in my voice.
"What if someone sees us though? Won't it be awkward for you? I mean it's a public place and..."
"Public ki to aisi ki taisi! We were so close to kissing each other and you started thinking about the public? Manik you're unreal!"
"Sahi toh bol rahaa hai bhai! You should do your romance behind closed doors, not in public!" Our private discussion was rudely interrupted by some idiots and let me tell you they were bigger idiots than Manik. Like 1000 times bigger. Then again how can you ever have a private conversation in public? Everyone is so bloody nosy! They like to stick their nose into other peoples business. It's such a natural thing to do as humans and I'd be wrong if I said I've never paid attention to strangers conversations.
"Excuse me! Look who's talking! I saw you like five minutes ago behind that pani puri stall making out with her, that girl in the yellow top. So you please don't advise us okay? And by the way, you do not know how to kiss. I mean aisa kiss kon kartaa hai yaar. Listen girl, I don't know how you deal with him." I said in reply to that boys comment. My reply was so not a typical Nandini reply but I had dealt with enough stupidity today and I had no energy to deal with such bullsh*t today.
"Paagal hai yai ladki yaar!" The guy spoke as I embarrassed him in front of all his friends and the other public surrounding him.
"Paagal kisko bolaa? Huh? Bol!" I said as I lifted one of my heels in my hand.
"Let's go from here guys! She's crazy!" He said as he started to walk, sorry run away.
"Crazy hogai tum! Or tumhari jhutti! Idiot!" I screamed at him. I turned around towards Manik to see him smirking.
"What? What's so funny?" I said with anger.
"Nothing!" He said trying to hide his smirk.
"Shut up and tell me why you're laughing!" I demanded.
"Did you actually see him making out with that girl behind the pani puri stall?" He asked curiously.
"Yeahhh!" I stated.
"And you called him a bad kisser?" He further questioned.
"Yeah well it's the truth!" I said as I shrugged my shoulders.
"And you even threatened him with your heels!" He exclaimed.
"Hmmm!"
"What has happened to you today Nandini? Why are you so worked up?" He asked.
"Listen Manik he was really irritating me and besides truth hurts. You could tell he was not a good kisser! And that's what he gets for interfering in people's private life. Idiot!"
"Okay stop cursing the poor guy! By the way, am I a good kisser?" He said as he pulled me closer towards him as he kept his hand on my waist.
"Hmmm I don't know Mr Malhotra. Are you?" I teased him.
"Only you can tell me that!" He said as he smirked.
"Why don't we just try and see?" I said playfully as I twirled his shirt collar.
"Are you sure you'll be able to handle me Miss Murthy?" He said as he grabbed my waist tightly and pulled me towards him.
"Bring it on Mr Malhotra!" I said as he put his lips onto mine forcefully and I reciprocated the kiss with equal passion. We did not care who was around us, we were together and that's what mattered. After a good few minutes we finally let each other go and sat under the tree. My head resting on his chest and his hands wrapped protectively around me.
"Manik?" I said softly.
"Hmmmm."
"I love you!" I replied with a smile.
"I know!" He replied proudly.
"No I really do! I really do love you. And that's why I'm scared for our love. The way both our grandmas are reacting to us, I'm scared. What if they make us choose between them and us? What if I have to choose between you and Amms? I won't be able to Manik. You both are very special to me." I addressed my concerns.
"I will make sure we are never in that situation where we have to choose between each other and our grandma's. Dadi means a lot to me but that does not mean I love you any less. No I love you both and I'm sure sooner or later they will understand us and accept us." Manik tried to calm me down with his words.
"I just hope so Manik. I just hope so." I said with a sigh.
Our conversation was disturbed by Manik's phone ring. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and received the call.
"Haan Mukku?" He said as he placed the phone near his ears.
"Ohhh Okay dadi. But what's the emergency?"
"Okay fine dadi. We'll be there as soon as possible."
"What happened Manik?" I asked worriedly.
"It was dadi. She wants us both home urgently. She sounded quite angry. I just hope everything is okay." Manik said with equal worry in his voice.
"Don't worry Manik. We're in this together. Let's go." I said placing my hand on his to reassure him.
