*Palace*
The restored Monarch and his guards charge through the building.
"Out of my way!" the man's way is blocked by a locked door. Inside the room, a large unfinished painting shows the naked Doctor as Neptune about to be crowned by a cherub the painting next to it is a painting of {Y/N} looking quite confused, other than that there was not really much else to the painting "Doctor! {Y/N}! Doctor! {Y/N}!" the irate king bursts in, sword drawn, and confronts the lady artist "where's the Doctor? And {Y/N}?"
"Doctor and {Y/N} who?"
"Achoo!" {Y/N} and the Doctor are hiding underneath the lady's voluminous skirts.
"You know, this isn't nearly as bad as it looks" {Y/N} says.
*Kitchen*
Amy is reading from a history book while Rory unpacks the shopping.
"At the personal intervention of the King, the unnamed Doctor and his companion {Y/N} were incarcerated without trial in the Tower of London," Amy says.
"Ok, but it doesn't have to be them" Rory replies.
"According to contemporary accounts, two nights later, a magical sphere some twenty feet across, was seen floating away from the tower, bearing the mysterious Doctor and {Y/N} aloft."
"Ok. It's them."
"There's more."
*Tunnel*
A classic World War 2 escape is in progress.
"Doctor. {Y/N}, what can you see?" the Doctor's head appears from the top of the tunnel, {Y/N} follows after.
"Is the commandant's office painted a sort of green colour with a big flag on the wall?" {Y/N} asks a siren sounds and dogs start barking.
"I think the answer's probably yes," the Doctor says.
*Living room*
"It's like their being deliberately ridiculous, trying to attract our attention. Are you watching this again?" Amy asks a Laurel and Hardy film is playing.
"Yeah. I've explained the jokes" Rory says, the doorbell rings and Amy answers it. The postman hands over some letters "What are you saying? Do you really think their back there, trying to wave to us, out of history books?"
"Hey, it's the sort of thing they'd do. Thanks."
"Yeah, but why?"
"Well, they said they'd be in touch."
"Two months ago."
"Two months is nothing. They're up to something. I know they are. I know them" Amy opens an envelope with the number 3 on the back.
"What is it? Amy?"
"A date, a time, a map reference. I think it's an invitation."
"From who?"
"It's not signed. Look, TARDIS blue."
*Stormcage*
Prisoner River Song also gets mail.
"You'd better get down here, sir. She's doing it again. Doctor Song, sir. She's packing. Says she's going to some planet called America."
*Highway*
The San Juan School District bus lets Rory and Amy off, with their backpacks.
"Thanks!" Amy says.
"You're very welcome."
"This is it, yeah? The right place?" Amy asks.
"Nowhere, middle of? Yeah, this is it" Rory says.
"Howdy," they turn to see the Doctor and {Y/N} lying on the hood of a big American car.
"Doctor! {Y/N}!"
"Ha, ha! It's the Pond" the Doctor and {Y/N} hop off the car.
"Hey!" Amy says they all have a joyous reunion.
"Hello, Pond. Come here" the Doctor says.
"So, someone's been a busy boy and girl then, eh?" Amy asks.
"Did you see us?" {Y/N} asks.
"Of course."
"Stalker."
"Flirt."
"Husband," Rory says.
"Rory the Roman! Ooo, come here" the Doctor says.
"Hey, nice hat."
"I wear a Stetson now. Stetsons are cool" then someone shoots it off him, {Y/N} turns grinning.
"Hello, sweetie," River says.
*Time skip*
{Y/N} and River are comparing diaries.
"Right then, where are we? Have we done Easter Island yet?" River asks.
"Er, yes! We've got Easter Island" {Y/N} replies.
"They worshipped you and the Doctor there. Have you seen the statues?"
"Jim the fish."
"Oh! Jim the fish. How is he?"
"Still building his dam" the Doctor replies.
"Sorry, what are you three doing?" Rory asks.
"They're all time travellers, so they never meet in the right order. They're syncing their diaries. So, what's happening, then? Because you've been up to something" Amy says.
"I've been running, faster than I've ever run. And I've been running my whole life. Now, it's time for me to stop. And tonight, I'm going to need you all with me" {Y/N} says looking down, the Doctor looks at her, not really understanding what she was saying.
"Ok. We're here. What's up?" Amy asks.
"A picnic. And then a trip. Somewhere different, somewhere brand new" {Y/N} smiles.
"Where?"
"Space, 1969."
*Lakeside*
They are all having a picnic.
"Salud!" {Y/N} says.
"Salud."
"So, when are going to 1969?" Rory asks.
"And since when do you drink wine?" Amy asks looking at the Doctor.
"I'm eleven hundred and three. I must've drunk it sometime" the Doctor says, he takes a swig from the bottle and spits it out, {Y/N} takes it from him and takes a sip "oh, why it's horrid. I thought it would taste more like the gums."
"Eleven hundred and three? You were nine hundred and eight the last time we saw you and {Y/N} you must be Eleven hundred and two?"
"Oh yeah" {Y/N} replies.
"And you've put on a couple of pounds. I wasn't going to mention it" the Doctor says, a strange figure is silhouetted on the skyline.
"Who's that?" Amy asks.
"Hmm? Who's who?" Rory asks.
"Sorry, what?"
"What did you see? You said you saw something."
"No, I didn't."
"Ah, the moon. Look at it. Of course, you lot did a lot more than look, didn't you? Big, silvery thing in the sky. You couldn't resist it. Quite right" {Y/N} says.
"The moon landing was in 69. Is that where we're going?"
"No. A lot more happens in 69 than anyone remembers. Human beings. I thought we'd never get done saving you" the Doctor says, a truck pulls up nearby and a man gets out. {Y/N} waves to him.
"Who's he?"
"Oh, my God" River says, a figure in a NASA spacesuit is standing up to its knees in the lake, {Y/N} gets up turning, she looks at River, the Doctor, Amy then Rory a small smile on her face.
"You all need to stay back. Whatever happens now, you do not interfere. Clear?" they nod, {Y/N} lets out a breath and goes to meet the figure, who has stepped out of the water.
"That's an astronaut. That's an Apollo astronaut in a lake" Rory says.
"Yeah," Amy says, {Y/N} smiles at the astronaut.
"Hello. It's ok. I know it's you" she says, the astronaut raises its gold-plated visor, "well then" they watch as {Y/N} says something, then bows her head.
"What's she doing?" Amy asks, the astronaut shoots {Y/N}.
"{Y/N}!"
"Amy, stay back!" River says as she grabs the Doctor who was squirming, Rory grabs Amy, the astronaut shoots again "{Y/N} said stay back! You have to stay back!"
"No! No! {Y/N}!" Amy shouts regeneration energy starts to flow from her hands.
"I'm sorry" she mutters, the astronaut shoots again just as the regeneration starts properly.
"No! {Y/N}!" River and the Doctor shout.
"{Y/N}, please!" they all run to {Y/N}. River scans her with her tricorder, while the Doctor scans her with his screwdriver.
"River. River! River? No" Amy says River empties her six-shooter at the retreating astronaut.
"Of course, not," River says.
"River, Doctor, she can't be dead. This isn't possible" Amy says holding {Y/N}'s head in her lap.
"Whatever that was, it killed her in the middle of her regeneration cycle. Her body was already dead. She didn't make it to the next one" River says.
"Maybe she's a clone or a duplicate or something," Amy says, the old man approaches, with a petrol can.
"I believe I can save you some time. That most certainly is {Y/N}. And she is most certainly dead. She said you'd need this."
"Gasoline?" Rory asks.
"A Time Lord's body is a miracle. Even a dead one. There are whole empires out there who'd rip this world apart for just one cell. We can't leave her here. Or anywhere" the Doctor says.
"Wake up. Come on, wake up, you stupid, bloody idiot. What do we do, Rory?" Amy asks.
"We're her friends. We do what {Y/N} and the Doctor's friends always do. As we're told" River says.
"There's a boat. If we're going to do this, let's do it properly" Rory says, so, as the sun sets, {Y/N} gets a Viking funeral, as the five stand on the beach.
"Who are you? Why did you come?" River asks looking at the older man.
"The same reason as you" he holds out his blue invitation "Doctor Song, Amy, Rory, Doctor. I'm Canton Everett Delaware the third. I won't be seeing you again, but you'll be seeing me" Delaware leaves.
"Four."
"Sorry, what?"
"{Y/N} numbered the envelopes."
