💗IMPORTANT AUTHORS NOTE, EVERYONE PLEASE READ IT😭💗

👑👑👑

“Bryson shut up” I whisper yelled as he chuckled.

“This lesson is so boring, like why the hell does he explain himself over again?” Brys asked frustrated.

I couldn't help but smile. I turned away from him, only for him to tap on my shoulder again.

*Tap, tap*

Ignored.

*Tap, tap, tap*

“Brys!” I whisper yelled.

“What!?” he yelled laughing.

“Am I interrupting your lesson Mr Scott? Oh my apologies. Why don't you share with the whole class the concept of my lesson today” Mr Hope said amused.

I looked at Bryson who cursed under his breath.

“Sure, why not? You've only explained it 50 times” Bryson said.

The class snickers.

“Be nice” I glared at him.

He looked at me and rolled his eyes.

“Come up then. Explain it” Mr Hope said sitting on his chair resting his hand under his chin.

Bryson got up and stood in front of the classroom.

“Okay class, let me explain a lesson to you that you've already heard more than 20 times. But you know what they say, the more you repeat a lesson, the more it's beaten into your brain” Bryson said with a fake sweet smile.

The class snickers here and there. Mr Hope just  looked amused with this while delema.

“A bibliography isn't just a summary that y'all might think. Sadly, our class average is only 75 percent. You know what that means children? Y'all are fucking stupid” Bryson said straight forward.

My mouth opened into a gap.

He did not just-

“Anyways a bibliography is a list of all of the sources you have used in the process of researching your work. Your bibliography should include the author's' name,
the titles of the works, the names and locations of the companies that published your copies of work” Brys said in all seriousness.

Everyone kinda looked taken back.

“Also, don't forget about your reference pages, or your work cited page. There the same thing. The reason you need these are because if you don't list the websites you've used, you can be charged with copyright. And I do believe some you dumbasses might end up forgetting to have a work cited page” Brys said eyeing everyone back with envy.

“Okay Mr Scott, that was something else” Mr Hope said slapping his back holding in his laugh.

“It was my pleasure” he said walking back to his seat.

I turned around and looked at Bryson who had a smirk across his face.

His eyes made its way to mine, as he winked. I shook my head turning back around.

He's definitely something else.

The bell rang, and I was so ready to go to the cafeteria for lunch.

I felt a shoulder bump into mine as I walked in the hallways.

I looked up and met a pair of blue eyes.

“You didn't even wait for me” Bryson said shaking his head disappointed.

“Sorry, didn't realize you wanted me to” I shrugged.

“Are you okay?” he asked leaning on Dylan's locker as I opened my locker.

“Yeah, I'm perfectly fine” I said putting my books in my locker.

“Okay well-"

“Hey baby girl” Dylan said smiling at me.

I smiled “Hey buddy”

“Get off my locker pretty boy” Dylan said resting his hand on his hip.

“Pretty boy huh?” Bryson asked getting off the locker.

“Don't get too fond of yourself” I said.

“Don't kill his ego” Dylan said.

“Don't worry Dylan, his ego is too big to kill”

Dylan laughed, and Bryson glared.

“Very funny” he said rolling his jean jacket sleeves up.

“Well I gotta head” Dylan said.

“Where you going? I thought we were gonna have lunch together” I said.

“Yeah sorry Aadila had this committee thing and she asked if I could help her” Dylan said.

“What, why didn't she ask me?” I ask.

“Cause you've been stressed out lately with everything. And plus, she wants you to have lunch with Bryson” he whispered the last part.

“You guys are too much” I rolled my eyes.

“Chow” Dylan smirked leaving.

“What was that about?” Brys asked.

“I don't know” I shrugged.

“So you'll be eating lunch with me?” he asked eagerly.

“Nah, I'll just go to the library” I said walking away.

“Woah” Brys said grabbing my shoulders.

“Why won't you have lunch with me?” he asked a bit hurt.

“Because there's always a bunch of people at your lunch table. And the whole freaking cafeteria watch that table like it's an episode of the vampire diaries” I said.

“Vampire diaries?” he smirked.

“What? It's a good show” I said looking down embarrassed.

“Fine, we can sit somewhere else” he said grabbing my hand.

“Brys, no” I said removing my hand from his.

“Why not?” he asked walking back to me.

“I just want to be alone for a while” I said feeling my head spinning.

“Listen, I know your stressed about school. But you shouldn't be, you're doing great in all your classes. You need to relax beads, trust me” he said forwarding his hand.

I looked at his hand and sighed. I grabbed it as he dragged me to the cafeteria.

“Don't expect me to talk to everyone” I said.

“You don't have to beads” I couldn't see his face, but I already knew he had a smile on his face.

We entered the cafeteria, I didn't miss all the stares I saw from the corner of my eyes.

Bryson made me site right beside him on the cafeteria bench.

The guys made eye contact with me. I smiled weakly as they looked up at Bryson amused.

“I'm gonna go get us lunch” Brys said getting up.

I grabbed his arm, and helped myself up.

“I'm coming with you” I said.

“Just stay here, I'll be back in a couple minutes” he said taking my hand off his arm slowly.

“No, I'm not staying here with a group of guys without you” I argued.

“Fine, but I'm paying for lunch” he said.

“No-"

“Then your not coming” he said.

“Fine” I said following him.

We stood in line, and I could just feel the frustration radiating.

“Can we just go in front of everyone?” Brys asked looking at the long line.

“No” I said grabbing his arm and pulling him back. “We're gonna wait like normal people”

“Why? Literally no one will say anything if we do”

“Yeah, cause they're scared of you” I argued.

“This is why I didn't want you to come” he huffed crossing his arms.

“Stop acting like a big baby” I glared.

“Madina?” I heard someone call my name.

But not just anyone. It was the one and only Abdullah.

I turned around and met a pair of brown eyes with a hint of green in them.

“Salam” I smiled.

His smile widened at my voice.

His dark hair was slicked back, and his small beard looked well groomed. He fixed his collared shirt then looked up at me again.

“Walekum Assalam, how are you? I barely see you around school” he asked.

“I'm good, thanks. Yeah, pretty big school huh?”

“Yeah, it really is. Still adjusting” he said with his foreign accent.

Abdullah's eyes looked slightly up to my left. His eyes widened and he took a step away from me.

He gulped, then smiled.

I looked up and saw Brysons glare on his face. I would be scared too if I didn't know Bryson well.

His eyes narrowed in on Abdullah, as his arms were crossed on his chest. Made his arms look even more bigger.

I slapped Brysons chest, he looked away from Abdullah to mine, and his eyes softened.

“Be nice” I whispered.

“I haven't even spoken to the guy yet” Brys said.

I rolled my eyes. “I'll see you around Abdullah” I smiled.

“Yeah I'll see you around. I was also gonna ask you if you could maybe show me around. I'm having troubles” he said.

“Oh yeah, for sure. Just let me know when” I smiled.

“Okay” he smiled “Salam”

“Salam” I repeated.

He gave Bryson a look before turning around and leaving.

“I don't like him” Bryson growled.

“Nothing I didn't know before” I said looking straight forward.

“Something about him just gives me the wrong vibes”

“You can't just judge someone on first appearance” I said.

“I don't like him” he repeated.

I sighed “He's actually a really nice guy, if you'd only talk to him” I said.

“Whatever” he mumbled turning away from me, texting on his phone.

After a minute Brys spoke up.

“So your gonna do it?” he asked.

“Do what?” I asked not looking at him.

“Show him around” he said.

“Yeah, why not?”

“Seriously! I don't want him near you” he said angrily.

“I don't care, stop acting like you own me” I said matching his voice.

“Stop acting like that” he demanded.

“Like what?” I asked.

“Your seriously getting mad at me over some loser ass guy?”

“He's not a loser. You know, just cause he doesn't hang around guys like you, doesn't mean he's a loser”

“Oh guys like me?” he chucked sarcastically.

“Yeah, Guys. Like. You” I said slower.

“You're ridiculous” he said.

“You're ridiculous” I mimicked him.

He glared at me.

We both stayed silent, till the line was finally moving. I ordered a drink, and cheese pizza with green peppers.

I was about to give my bill to the cafeteria lady, when I felt a hand pull my hand away.

Bryson paid for our food.

“I told you I'm gonna pay” he said quietly.

“But I-"

“You agreed, now, let's go”

I huffed and followed him.  We both sat down and didn't speak to each other.

“Uhh, did I miss something?” Chase asked looking at Bryson, then at me.

I looked down and didn't respond. Instead, I started finishing some homework I couldn't finish after school.

“What going on this time?” Chase asked.

“Nothing, leave it” Bryson said eating his food.

“This is another kind of Bryson. I don't quit know what emotion he's portraying right now” Stephen said.

“I think know what he's portraying” Dre said with a smirk.

“Me too, shall I?” Evan asked.

“Go ahead” Chase said leaning back.

“Jealousy” Evan said happy with his answer.

“Your an idiot” Brys said.

“An idiot? Sometimes. A smartass? All the time” Evan said.

I couldn't help but giggle.

Bryson looked at me, and I stopped laughing.

“I'm not jealous” he grumbled.

“You sure? Cause it looked like you were about to rip that guys head out, just for looking at Madina” Dre said shaking his head laughing.

“I was just looking at him” Brys huffed.

“More like grilling the poor guy” I butted in.

Brys looked at me with a mean glare. “Why are you always on his mother fuckin side?” he asked.

My eyebrows scrunched “I'm not! I'm just being honest” I said the part quietly.

“Yeah, whatever”

“Stop saying that” I whipped my head towards him.

“What?-"

“Stop saying, yeah, whatever” I said.

“Why?”

“Its annoying. You act like it didn't bother you. And by saying whatever, you think I'll believe you”

The table fell silent, and I huffed.

“So pudding anyone?” Evan asked holding his chocolate pudding out.

Bryson glared at him. The table started talking again, but I stayed silent doodling into my notebook.

I took a bite from my pizza as I felt a hand rest on my arm.

“Bryson, let go” I said taking his hand off my arm.

He put his hand on my arm again, this time not letting go.

“Talk to me” he pleaded this time resting his head on the table.

He played with my hand, not letting me pull it away.

“I was jealous” he admitted.

“No shit Sherlock” I said.

“Come on, don't be like that”

“You have no reason to be jealous” I said a bit calmer.

“Yeah?” he asked.

“Yeah, I don't like him that way” I said honestly.

“Mhm” Brys said leaning in listening to me.

“I mean, he's cute and all-"

“And I lost my focus” Bryson said covering his ears.

I giggled and hit his arm.

“Let me finish idiot”

“Go ahead” he groaned.

“So he's cute and all, but personality wise and stuff nah. I mean, I barely even know him that well. He's nice, but too nice”

“There's such thing as too nice?” Evan asked.

“Uh yes!” I yelled.

“Jeez woman. It was just a question” Evan said sinking in his seat.

“So he's too nice for you?” Brys asked.

I looked at him and rolled my eyes. “That's not It” I said.

“Then what?” he asked.

“There's no room for him in my heart” I said.

“Why?” he asked.

I groaned and smiled wickedly. “Because someone else is occupying that space at the moment” I finished.

Brysons lips curved into a smile. “Can I know this person?” he asked amused.

“Lets just say you know him very well” I said looking away feeling my cheeks on fire.

“Damn Bryson, is Madina your girl?” Dre asked.

“What? N-" I was about to say till Brys rudely interrupted me.

“Of Course, she's my only girl” Bryson said putting his arm around me.

I rolled my eyes. “Take your arm off me, before I dislocate it” I said.

Everyone started laughing.

“Damn Bryson, doesn't seem like she wants you” Chase said with glint in his eyes I couldn't figure out.

“Nah, she'll always want me” Bryson said crushing me into his chest.

“I'm suffocating! You have too much cologne on” I said getting out of the awkward situation.

The guys just resulted into louder laughter.

“You guys are too cute” Evan said in a girly voice.

“Shut up, the only thing that will be cute is you running home for mommy after I beat you with my lunch tray” I smiled evilly.

Chase almost spit his chocolate milk out.

“Dang, and she's feisty” Evan said “I like it” he winked.

I rolled my eyes, and started writing inside my journal.

“What are you writing?” Bryson asked trying to peek through my book.

“Nothing, just some stupid assignment” I said.

“Then why are you hiding it from me?” he asked raising an eyebrow.

“Because I don't wanna show you Scott. Simple” I said.

“Oh really?”

“Yeah, really. Remember when you wouldn't show me your paintings? Yeah, that's what you get” I said sticking my tongue out in a childish manner.

He huffed “I told you I'll show you eventually” he said.

“Yeah, yeah. So in a million years when I'm already six feet under” I joked.

I didn't hear Bryson make his snarky comment. I turned my head and looked at him as his eyes got filled with an unknown emotion.

“Are you okay?” I asked resting my hand on his shoulder.

He grabbed my hand from his shoulder and interlaced our hands together.

“Don't joke about that” he said with an emotionless face.

“About?”

“Dying, Don't joke about death” he said squeezing my hand.

“Okay, I won't” I said quietly.

He smiled, then the bell rang.

I dragged my way through the hallways, feeling so sick of school.

I mean, I remember when I was younger I always was so into school. Now that I'm in my last year of high school, everything seems so boring.

Or maybe that's just me. Maybe my life is just too boring.

I slammed my locker and felt a warm body behind me.

I turned around and saw a panicked Majeed.

“Woah, what's going on?” I asked.

“Some stupid ass kid broke my bumper on my car” he said. His skin almost looked ghost white.

“What? Oh Allah (god) what are you gonna do? Mom and dad are gonna murder you. It was good knowing ya big bro” I said hugging him.

“Dina I'm being serious! No time for joking” he said gripping his hair.

“Okay, I'm sorry” I said embarrassed.

I saw Bryson walk towards my locker with his backpack slung on one shoulder.

“Why are you hear? Shouldn't you be getting his insurance and stuff?” I asked.

“I already did. The thing was I skipped some of my classes today and went to this place with my friends. The guy scratched it in the parking lot over there” he said.

“You skipped class too? are you asking for death?” I asked.

“I know, I screwed up. If momma and bobba (dad) find out I'm done”

“Hell yeah you'll be done” I said.

Bryson just stood there shocked with this whole conversation.

“I need you to help me Dina” he pleaded.

“What? Me! How?!” I asked.

“I don't know!” he panicked.

“Astaghfirullah (seek forgiveness from god)  Majeed what are we gonna do?” I asked.

“I don't know” Majeed said closing his eyes.

Dylan and Aadila approached me, I explained  everything to them.

Dylan was shocked to say the least.

As for Aadila, I've never seen her so angry.

“You skipped class?” she asked Majeed.

He nodded not looking at her.

“Dude! Seriously? I told you to stop hanging out with those guys” she said crossing her arms.

“I know” Majeed said quietly.

Damn, he was actually listening to someone. He never listens to me, and I'm his sister.

Am I missing something?

“I have an idea” Bryson said out of nowhere.

Everyone gave him there attentions so quickly, it was actually quite frightening.

“You have a plan?” Majeed asked.

Oh no.

Don't let this be another brawl.

“Yeah, and if you'd like to hear it, I'd like to say it” Brys said.

Please don't be too mean. I chanted in my brain.

“Let's hear it” Majeed said

I opened my eyes and looked at Majeed. Is he being for real?

“Okay so I know someone in the Nevada that fixes cars. He doesn't have a real engineering diploma, so he works low-key. I'm gonna be honest, he works fast, and does a great job for a good price” Bryson said.

“And... “ Aadia said.

“So I was thinking, I can give the guy a call. He'll do it for free. He owes me anyways he'll do it for you today, also done by today” Bryson said looking around our little circle.

No one said a word.

“You'll do that for me?” Majeed asked taken back.

“Of Course man, why not?” Brys asked scrunching his eyebrows.

“Thanks bro” Majeed said grabbing Brysons hand and shaking it.

Bryson smiled. “So you'll come with me. We'll get a tow truck to get your car there too” Bryson said taking his phone out calling someone.

“Okay, great, I'm coming” I said holding my car keys.

“Beads, I don't want you seeing that guy” Brys said.

“Why? I'm coming” I said stubbornly.

“No, He's not the type of person id want you to be around” Bryson said.

“So he's not safe? Then why the hell are you guys going?” I asked angrily.

“Because I've been around him before. Stop being stubborn, and just listen to me” he said grabbing my shoulders.

I looked at Majeed and he nodded “He's right. You aren't coming” he said.

“Wow” I said huffing.

“We gotta go” Bryson said getting of the phone.

“Okay, let's go” Majeed said.

We all followed them outside into the parking lot.

“Shit, your cars messed up” Dylan said looking away like it hurt him.

“Thanks tips” Majeed said with a mean glare.

“Why are you so angry? You're the one who brought this upon yourself” Aadila said.

Ah, she's a wise one.

“I didn't do it on propose” he said ashamed.

“Yeah, but this is Allah's (gods) warning after you skipped class. You knew it was wrong and your parents would get angry. Oh, and if coach finds out you'll be dead meat” she said shaking her head.

“Couldn't of said it any better” I said.

“Shut up” Majeed said glaring at me.

Aadila rolled her eyes at the both of us.

We waited for 10 minutes, when an orange pick up truck came. The middle aged man hooked the back of Majeed's car with his own.  Bryson gave him the address and handed the man some cash.

“I could've paid man” Majeed said grabbing his wallet.

“No, it's honestly fine” Bryson said moving Majeeds wallet away.

Majeed smiled genuinely.

Who would've thought.

They both got into the car. I saw Aadila talk to Majeed from the car window. I walked around to the drivers side. Bryson pulled his window down for me.

“I'm mad at you” I said leaning in the window.

“You're huh?” he asked smirking.

“Mhm"

“I'm still not taking you, so stop with the puppy dog face” he said poking my cheek.

I snorted “Meanie”

“I'm not doing it cause I want to beads. I have to, this guy… he's just, very different. I don't trust him around you” he said.

I nodded “This one time i'm gonna listen. Next time, I'm coming” I said.

“Okay, fine” he smiled.

“I'll see you later?” I asked more of a question.

“Yea, I'll drop Majeed off when we're done” he said.

“Okay” I smiled.

He nodded, and turned the car on.

“Brys?”

“Yeah?”

“Be safe” I said.

His eyes brightened “Always am” he winked.

I smiled, and walked to Majeeds window.

“You too, be safe. Don't do anything stupid” I said kissing his rough cheek.

“I'll be fine Dina” Majeed said. “Tell mom and dad I'm at track practice” he said.

I rolled my eyes, and nodded. Now I had to lie for him.

They drove off and I sighed.

“They'll be fine right?” I asked.

Aadila rested her head on my shoulder. “They'll be fine Dina” she said.

I closed my eyes, and took a deep breath.

“Inshallah” I said.

Sooner rather than later we all splitted parts.

I finally reached my house. I opened the door, I heard noises from everywhere. We had a lot of TVS in the house and it sounded like they were all on.

I saw my dad on the couch watching a basketball game. I came up behind him, and kissed his cheek.

“Salam bobba (dad)” I said.

“Salam kiddo. Why are  you late?” he asked checking his watch.

“Stuff came up after school” I lied.

“Okay” he said. “Where’s Majeed?” he asked.

“At Track” I said.

“Busy boy, he is” bobba (dad) laughed.

“Yup” I smiled guilty like.

“Come watch the game with your bobba (dad)” bobba (dad) said patting the couch beside him.

“I have a lot of homework, I should get to it” I said.

“Really? Come on you never miss a game with me” he said facing me.

“Toronto isn't even playing bobba (dad) I'll watch the game after” I said.

“Um, okay bachem (my child)” he said looking at me strangely trying to figure me out.

I smiled and turned around into the kitchen.

I was right the tv in the kitchen was also on. My mom had a bowl in her hand while she stirred violently. She watched the tv as the man explained the recipe.

“Salam momma” I said grabbing an Apple from the fridge.

“Walekum assalam Jaanam (my love)”

“I'll be in my room” I said as she didn't pay attention to me.

“Okay, dinner will be ready soon!” she yelled in Farsi.

“Kho (okay)” I said walking up the stairs.

I walked in the hallway. Masouds room door was slightly opened.

He was sitting on his bed reading a book. His glasses were propped on his face ad his eyes moved to sentences fastly. I smiled and knocked on the door slightly.

He looked up and smiled.

“Dina!” he said jumping into arms.

I kissed his cheek multiple times.

“How was school?” I asked sitting down on the bed with him.

“It was good. I'm always with Alexander, so nothing new really” he said shrugging.

“You and Alexander are good buds huh?” I asked.

“Yeah” he smiled “He doesn't pick on me like other kids” he said.

“Kids are still bullying you?” I asked.

“No, no. They're scared of Alexander” he giggled covering his mouth with his tiny hands.

I laughed “That's good”

“I'll leave you to read. I know how much you enjoy your books” I said.

“Okay Dina” he smiled getting comfortable on his bed.

I went to shut the door before Masoud called me.

“Yeah?”

“Will you come back after dinner and tuck me into bed?” he asked.

“Of course” I smiled.

I walked into my room and fell into my bed face first.

My phone ringed. As soon as I saw Brysons name pop up I struggled to open the call.

“Hello?”

“Hey beads”

“Are you guys okay? What's going on?” I asked biting the tip of my nails.

“We're okay, calm down beads” he said.

I took a deep breath.

“Where are you?” I asked.

“I'm close to your house. I'm bout to drop your brother off” he said.

“Okay, it all went good?” I asked.

“Yeah, his cars getting fixed. He'll need to pick it up in a couple hours” Bryson said.

“Alhamdulillah (thank god) that's really good” I said.

“Yeah, he got lucky”

“Thank you Brys. For everything” I said.

“Didn't I tell you not to thank me beads?” he said.

I laughed. “Yeah, I'll see you soon”

“See you soon” he repeated.

I hung up and waiting a couple minutes. I was about to open my door to see if they were here yet.

As soon as I opened my door Majeed froze and stared at me.

“Hey” he smiled.

“Hi”

“It went good. I'll pick my car up soon” he said.

“That's great. Let that be a lesson Majeed” I said.

“I know, I know. Astaghfirullah (I seek forgiveness from god)” he said.

“Good” I smiled patting his cheek.

“I underestimated him” Majeed said.

“Who?” I asked.

“Bryson, I thought he was an awful person. I judged him before getting to know him. But he has a good heart Dina”

“Yes, I know” I smiled. “I'm glad you figured that out” I said.

“Okay now. Don't rub it in my face” he said.

I giggled “I'll let you go this time” I said.

“Hey another thing” Majeed said.

“Yeah?”

“Brysons downstairs waiting for you” he said.

“Really?” I asked.

“Yeah, go” he said.

“Your gonna let me see him?” I asked not believing him.

“Yes, now go before I regret my decision” he said walking out of my room.

I smiled, and ran down the stairs.

“Dina stop running inside the house!” I heard my mom yelling from the kitchen.

“Honey! Tell Dina to stop running!” my mom yelled out for my dad.

“What?!” he yelled back watching the game like his life depended on it.

I snorted, and opened the door. I closed it slowly and walked up to Brysons car.

He was leaning on it. His jean jacket and his black skinny jeans, was basically his signature look. With the red bandana he always had on holding his dark hair back.

I stood in front of him, as he fixed this posture. His tall figure almost shadowing over top of me.

“Your back” I smiled.

“I'm back” he smiled back.

“I wanted to thank y-"

“Beads” he groaned “I tell you every day not to thank me. And yet, you still thank me”

“I know it's j-"

“No, don't thank me” he said flicking my nose.

I swatted his hand away and giggled.

“I'm sorry” he said looking down at his sneakers.

“Your sorry?” I asked.

“Yeah, you know for what happened at the cafeteria” he said scratching the back of his head.

“Yeah, you acted like a total douchebag” I said rolling my eyes.

“Yes, i'd like to apologize for acting like a total douchebag” he said placing his hand on his chest.

I laughed “I forgive you. I forgive you too much. I need to stay mad you, So you can learn your lesson” I said tapping my chin.

“I'm not a child beads. Don't do that, I hate it when your mad at me” he said in all seriousness.

I giggled “Chill, I won't. Unless you decide to play games with me again” I said rolling my eyes.

“I Won't” he said sincerely.

“Okay” I said.

“Let's go somewhere”  Brys said grabbing my hand.

“I can't Brys. My mom's dinner will be done in a bit” I said.

“Oh” he said letting go of my hand.

“Where are your parents tonight?” I asked.

“Mums working late. Dad's in another city. And Alexander's at a sleepover” he said bored.

“Your home alone?” I asked.

“Yep” he said.

“That sucks, I feel so bad” I said.

“Don't worry beads. This isn't the first time” he said.

“You should spend dinner here” I said grabbing his hand and dragging him near my door.

“What? No, no. I'm not coming inside beads”

“Why not? My parents love you. Seriously, it's just dinner” I said.

“No, I don't wanna be a burden beads-"

“You're not a burden” I said smacking his arm.

I pulled him inside and closed the door.

“I don't think this is a good idea” he whispered.

“Take your shoes off” I said.

“I smell the food” Bryson said licking his lips.

I giggled “Fat ass”

“What?” he asked.

“Oh nothing”

“Is that Bryson Octavius Scott in my house” my dad said getting up with a huge smile on his face.

Brysons eyes brightened up. “I'm sure my mom told you my middle name” Bryson said shaking my dad's hand.

“She sure did” my dad laughed.

“It's nice to see you sir”

“It's nice to see you to young man” my dad said.

“Bobba (dad) Brysons staying for dinner” I said.

“Yes, why not bachem? (my child) he's more than welcome” my dad said.

I nodded happily.

“Of course sir if it's not a hassle” Bryson said politely.

“No hassle son. You are more than welcome here”

Bryson smiled “Thank you sir”

I dragged Bryson into the kitchen where my mom was.

“Momma, do you need any help?” I asked.

“No Bachem (my child) I'm all goo-" she stopped talking when she saw Bryson standing behind me.

“Bryson” she smiled widely.

“Hi Mrs Omar, how are you?” he asked grabbing her hand and kissing it.

“What a gentleman you are huh?” she asked cheekily.

Bryson looked back at me with a smile.

“I'm fine, thank you. How are you? How's your mom, and dad?” momma asked.

“I'm good, they're also good” he said.

“Alhamdulillah (thank god)” my mom said.

She froze for a second and and turned back to Bryson. “I'm sorry. Excuse my language. I'm glad they're good, is what I meant” she said.

“Oh no, it's okay Mrs Omar. I know what it means” he said.

“You know what it means?” she asked.

“Yeah I know” Brys said looking at me.

My mom looked at him, then at me.

“Mhm, I see” she said looking away. I could tell she had a huge smile on her face.

“Okay well, Brysons staying for dinner” I said pushing Bryson out of the kitchen.

“I'll leave momma before Bryson apologizes for being a hassle for the 3rd time” I said.

“Okay!” she yelled giggling.

“Hey” Bryson said.

“What? It's true. Your making this a big deal” I said.

He shook his head chuckling.

“We have a lot of time till dinners ready” I said.

“Yeah, I guess we do” he said.

“Lets go to the beach” I said getting up.

“Bobba (dad) I'm going to the beach for a bit” I said.

“Dina, your not going alone at this time” he said.

“I'm going with Bryson” I said.

“Oh okay” my dad said looking at Bryson.

That was easy.

We walked out and I took my sandals off. The cold breeze hit my face. The December weather showing it's feelings in the cold air.

Bryson walked behind me as I walked near the water. I found a spot and sat down staring at the ocean.

I heard Bryson shuffling, and then he propped down right beside me.

I stared off into the crashing waves. The waves looked extremely dark today. I guess we all have our sad days. We can't always stay happy, and vibrant.

“Will you read Quran for me?” he asked.

“The Quran?” I asked shocked.

“Yeah” he said looking at the ocean.

“Which surah (section)” I asked.

“Yaseen Sharif” he said.

“Yeah?” I smiled “Why that one?” I asked.

“I read somewhere that. Allah said this surah (section) anyone who reads it has the gates of heaven open for them” he said.

My eyes widened. Wow, I didn't know he knew all this.

“So you believe in God now Mr Atheist?” I asked giggling.

“I didn't say that. I'm just opened minded. And plus I really like your voice” he said leaning in staring at my lips.

I pushed his face away “Stop it, I'll read” I said.

I began reading, and saw from the corner of my eye. Brysons posture relaxed, and his eyes shut for the brief moment.

When I finished we stayed silent.

“That was beautiful” he said.

“I know” I smiled.

I stared off into the ocean for a while.

“What are you thinking about?” Brys asked.

“Just the future” I said.

“Yea?”

“Mhm”

“You scared about the future?” I asked him.

“Nope. I take life day by day Beads” he said.

I laughed “You'll never get wrinkles” I said.

We sat silently. My head made its way to Brysons shoulder. I rested it, and closed my eyes.

“Beads?”

“Yea?” I answered.

“I like this” he said.

I smiled.

“Me too”

“Where do you see yourself in the future Brys?” I asked.

“Somewhere. But I know I'll be somewhere with you” he said.

“What?” I asked.

“Kids dinners ready!” I heard my mom yell form the door.

Brys and I just stared at each other.

Did he mean that?

“Lets go” Brys said getting up, leaving a hand for me.

I took his hand and got up.

We both raced to the house like a bunch of kids.
