Joe's POV
The next morning, I woke up on the couch. No I didn't sleep in Kat's bed nor did we have sex. I took a shower throw my clothes back on and was getting ready to leave to go home. I was waiting on Kat to come out of the bathroom from taking a shower as well so I laid across her bed.
I really haven't had much time to think of what I was going to tell Galina because I was with Kat all night. She has been calling and texting me asking me why I didn't come home and judging by some of the text messages that she sent, I'm pretty sure she has an idea why I didn't come home. She already thinks I'm cheating on her anyway so I might as well just go that route in ending things.
Kat came out of the bathroom in yoga pants and a sports bra. She was going in one of her drawers to take out a shirt. I couldn't help but to stare at her stomach, I couldn't believe that I was having another baby. Seeing her pregnant made her look more beautiful than she's ever looked to me. I never thought I would have another child especially how things had been going with Galina and I. I'm actually pretty excited to know that things didn't play out that way.
I get up, walk over to her and wrap my arms around her from behind putting my hands on her stomach, "I'm going to go home but I'll be back later."
She turns around, "You don't have to come back later, I'll be fine here by myself. I've been by myself for the last 2 months, I don't need you."
I drop my hands, "Why are you being like this? It's like you don't want me to be around. I'm trying to be here for you and for the baby. You don't need to be by yourself."
"Joe, I'm fine. Just go on about your day and you'll talk to me later." She says.
"Let's go out for dinner tonight."
"No, I don't want to go out." She turns back around and puts on her shirt.
I turn her back around to face me, "Come on, just for dinner and we can just chill out after like we used to do in Cali. Just give me another chance, Kat."
She sighs and looks at me, "What is going out to dinner going to accomplish?"
"I just want to take you out. I haven't been with you on a while and I've really missed you."
"We just spent the night together. Joe you're smothering me." She says.
"Smothering you? Okay, I get it. I guess I'll just see you whenever." I turn to talk out of the room but she stops me.
"Joe, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings, I'm sorry. It's just I don't think you want this. I feel like you're only doing this because you think this is what I want. So I'm just putting a wall up because I know you're not going to stay around. What's the point, you don't want kids remember?" She says.
I put my hands on her shoulders, "Kat, let's be clear about this. We said what we said about wanting kids but now that you're pregnant, all of that is invalid. Just like you changed your mind when you found out you were pregnant, now that I know you're pregnant I've changed my mind. I'm happy and I'm excited about this. I'm happy to be having a child with you. Stop second-guessing it and stop doubting me. I want this baby and I want you. I know it's a little bit unconditional how we met and got together but I know this is what I want now and I don't want to hear anything else about it. So just shut up and just go with it. I know you don't want to do this by yourself and I'm here, okay?"
She nods her head yes without saying anything.
"Now, like I said I'll be back later on. We're going to go to dinner and we're going to chill out how we used to. Wear something nice."
She smiles, "I love when you put your foot down and tell me what to do."
I smile and kiss her on the lips then start heading down the stairs but then I turn around and go back up the stairs and back into her room.
"Did you forget something?" She asks.
"Yeah." I get down on one knee, lift her shirt up and kiss her stomach.
"You're so sweet." She rubs the top of my head.
I stand up and kiss her on the lips again, "I'll be back." Then I leave.
When I got home, of course as soon as I walked in the door, I had to get yelled at. I sat on the couch listening to her talk about me being out all night and all I could think about was how Kat was doing and how the baby was doing. I also was thinking about how Galina was me a couple of years ago. I don't feel bad, as horrible as it sounds. I actually think she deserves this for what she did to me. She's cheated on me multiple times and showed no remorse for doing so. Then thought everything would go back to how it was, like nothing happened. Dumbass.
I made up my mind right then and there, I was going to make her suffer. I wasn't going to say anything to her right now about my situation. I was just going to string her along like she did me. Yeah I know it's bad but oh well. Like Kat said, I should get her back.
When she was done, I went upstairs to my bedroom, put on some workout clothes and headed out to the gym. I was at the gym for a few hours reflecting on the news I got yesterday. I'm going to be a father again, I thought to myself. This time around, I will have more experience and I won't make as many mistakes as I did with my daughter. I was actually getting pretty excited about this. I thought back to when we were here in Tampa before. The conversation we had at her house about being careless finally caught up to us but I wasn't upset about it. Although I thought I would be if this ever happened.
I worked out for a few hours, went back home, showered and got dressed for dinner with Kat.
I picked Kat up and we headed to Ulele, the restaurant we went to when we we're here a couple of months ago.
We sat there for a while talking. We ordered our food and beverages and while we were waiting for food we were talking about the baby.
"So after I found out I was pregnant, I went to the doctor and they said everything was good."
"That's good because I know we were drinking a lot the night before you left. I'm happy to know that the baby is doing well." I say.
"So, when are you going to tell your family you have a baby on the way?" She asks.
"Um I don't know. They don't even know I'm seeing anybody."
"Well that makes me feel good to know you've told no one about me." She rolls her eyes.
"It's not that I don't want to tell anyone about you, it's more because I didn't know what we were doing. But now that I know we're really trying at this and you're pregnant, I have no choice. I have to let everyone know. I just don't know when that's going to be."
"Well, I've already told my mom." She says.
"I'm going to tell everyone soon. Don't worry about that just worry about being healthy for our baby."
I was about to ask Kat about her next doctor's appointment and that's when I heard Galina's voice.
"So this is what you've been doing?"
"Galina, what are you doing here?" I say surprised as hell.
"I followed you."
"You followed me? What the fuck were you thinking? What are you doing here?" I ask her again.
"I knew I wasn't crazy. You've been sneaking around with your assistant all of this time."
"I'm not sneaking around with my assistant, my assistant lives in Los Angeles." I say.
"Joe don't play with me. This is your assistant, Katalina Forbes." Galina says.
"His assistant? I'm not his assistant....But excuse me, who are you?" Kat asks.
"I'm Galina, Joe's girlfriend."
Kat laughs, "You mean his ex-girlfriend."
"No, his current girlfriend."
I exhaled and put my hand over my face and Galina was going off on me. I couldn't believe this news was coming out before I was able say anything. I couldn't believe Galina went to great lengths to follow me just to see what I was doing. I tuned her out once Kat and I made eye contact.
Kat looks at me with a look of disgust on her face, "Your girlfriend Joe?"
"Kat, it's really not what you think, This is my daughter's mother. Let me explain."
She sat that for minute looking at me. I could tell she was disappointed and I already knew what she was thinking, I let her down. I was waiting for her to get up and leave and I was ready to chase after her.
"You have nothing to explain to me." Kat says
"Kat just let me talk to you. Don't get up. Let me get her out of here and I will tell you everything. I promise. Please just hear me out Kat."
"Joe I don't want to hear anything you have to say. You lied to me. You were so adamant about trying to be together....and I believed you. You had me second guess my own thoughts-" She says.
"No, It's not like that just listen to me." I look over at Galina who is still going off on me. "Please just let me take care of her and I'll come right back in and I'll talk to you. Please Kat." I pleaded
I stand up and I see Kat getting up as well. "Wait Kat, what are you doing?"
"I'm leaving." She says.
"Kat you can't leave, we have to talk. Please."
"I don't have anything to say to you and I don't feel like listening either." Kat stands all the way up revealing her belly.
"SHE'S PREGNANT?" Galina yells, looking down at her stomach. "Don't tell me she's pregnant with your baby." Galina asks.
Kat looks over at Galina, "You know what, I am not going to be involved in this." She walks out of the restaurant.
"I can't believe you did this." I say to Galina.
"YOU can't believe I did this but you're cheating on me."
"Galina, go home." I start to turn towards the door but she grabs me.
"Where are you going?" Galina asks.
"Galina it's over, I'm going after Kat...."
With that said I run out of the restaurant after her.
