It's midsomer and the sun is shining relentlessly on you. There's no tree around you to give you any shadow or a blow of the wind to cool down your body. It's hot, terribly hot. While I am writing this on my laptop with a huge Airmonster fan next to me and my sister on the couch complaining about the weather and how she doesn't want to read my story, I'm sipping some cold drink. That's how I (try) to cope with the heat. But how do you do it with your favourite Sherlock character?
John Haymich Watson: Let's play a game. It works like this: John lay down on the ground. He wanted to lie down on the couch, but the piece of furniture was too warm and the ground was some degrees colder so the floor it is. You lay next to him, your legs on the couch.
'It is so hot outside, that Sherlock wouldn't even need a Bunser burner to burn his "beloved" Deerstalker: the sun can do it too.' You complained.
John moved a bit, though it were small movements: big ones were too much in this heat. 'It is so hot outside, that all the water in the entire North Sea will evaporate soon enough.' John tried.
'It's so hot outside that every bird will burn into Phoenixes.' You tried, starting to like this game.
'That's not even close.' Said John and grinned a bit. 'It's so hot outside, that the sun could burn the Earth and make it an equal warm thing.'
You were about to top that. With a huge grin on my face you said: 'It's so hot outside, it's Tom Hiddleston.' you laughed. 'Or Orlando Bloom, that's really hot too!' you added.
'Are you still into that Hiddleston guy? I'm going to shoot him if you ever mention his name again.' John said. 'In this weather? You don't even want to stand up.' You reminded him. 'True, but I can do it from here too.' He said and continued. 'It's so hot outside, that I have no power left at all to be mad at you.'
'Nor to be jealous?' You asked him. He moved a bit. 'I'm not jealous!' But you just grinned (it was too hot for laughing) and called Mrs. Hudson to ask if she could bring you two some cold drinks. And she did, laughing as she saw you two on the ground, both complaining but grinning.

I keep on complaining so my sister and I keep on trying to top each other with a hotter thing. I think Tom Hiddleston will make me win the game! But my sister thinks Orlando Bloom is way hotter! What do you think? Maybe Luke fudging Evans? Let me know!

I think John might also try to climb into the freezer. And he'd probably succeed: he's the bravest little hobbit of them all, isn't he? ;-)
William Sherlock Scott Holmes: 'Can't you stop complaining for a minute?' Sherlock asked you. 'I can't enter my mindpalace when you keep on moaning about the sun.' You looked at him. Even moving your head was exhausting. 'You have trouble entering your mindpalace because you are bothered by the heat, too.' You said stubbornly and continued complaining.
After a while Sherlock asked you to stop again, this time less nicely. 'Just let me, Sherlock.' You answered. 'Then at least I do something.' Sherlock looked at you sternly. 'Complaining does not count as doing something.' Said the sassy detective.
'Hey,' you said and turned to look at him. 'If you can find a way to cool me down, by all means, do it.' His irritation kind of amused you and it didn't take too much effort so you decided to continue. Irritating Sherlock does count as doing something, doesn't it?
But after some snappy words, Sherlock had disappeared. Not that you did anything to get him back: the weather was way too extreme to even think of action, let alone actually do something, but you did pity that your entertainment had fled.
He came back though, but you didn't notice it. John did, but of course that cursed hedgehog didn't warn you or something. Not even in Morse Code. No, instead of being warned, you had to learn it the hard way.
Or let's say: the cold way.
Before you could turn around to see your horror nearing you, icy cold water was thrown over your head and you were soaking, and then I mean soaking wet. 'Sherlock!' you shouted. 'What have you done?!' You cried out and stared at your dripping clothes and the wet furniture. John and Sherlock both grinned loudly. Sherlock looked at you and you were searching for a place on his face to slap without damaging his cheekbones, but still pretty painful. He grinned sweetly.
'I have found a way to cool you down.'

Brrr! That'd be cold! But still effective. And you'll need something to cool down when you've got Benedict fudging Cumberbatch around you! ;-)

Am I the only one who found this trailer really, really scary?
Mycroft Siger Holmes: In the previous ones you were the one complaining, but that's nothing compared to the moaning Mycroft can perform about the weather. Like a little baby he'd complain but it'd be better if you don't say anything about it: Mycroft is also great in snapping at people, and the heat does not bring him into a good mood.
He'd probably use all the fans he owns and drink only the coldest drinks. And when you force him to go outside since there's something you need from the supermarket and that market doesn't do home delivery, and you're not going outside, Mycroft will still take his umbrella with him.
'Why do you take that thing with you? You'd make a fool of yourself to walk around with an umbrella on such a hot and dry day.' You said and grabbed the umbrella out of his hands. Mycroft stubbornly tried to get it back. 'He's for shadow.' He explained. 'But if you want to go outside and get it yourself instead of slaving me to go, that's totally fine by me.' He snapped.
I looked at the fans and the cool atmosphere here, then I thought of the terrible heat outside. The choice wasn't difficult to make so you pushed the umbrella in his hands as an answer and watched Mycroft walk outside, angrily muttering to himself.

Greg Lestrade: What do you do when it's hot? You seek something cool. And what is cooler than water? *(A lot of things but please don't hate me!)*
'Have we got everything?' Greg asked you and you nodded. 'Yup, I've got it all in my bag. Let's go quickly, I can't stand it here anymore.' Armed with towels and bad slippers, you two walked towards the one place no one would come. All the swimming pools were crowded with people and the bathtub was still too hot so you offered to go to this particular place.
A small little river floated though this beautiful place and green trees gave you enough shadow to enjoy. Nobody was here, it was extremely peaceful and the water was pretty clear. Not blue like in all those fancy commercials, but still pretty clear. The wonderful smell of the little flowers that covered the ground underneath the trees tickled your nose.
There were brilliant places to read in the shadow but your book could wait a minute. You placed the bags on the ground and spread out the towel. Greg already had dared to go into the water.
'Is it cold?' You asked while you placed your toes in the water. 'Yes!' You heard Greg scream from far away. And he was right: it was really cold.
The trick to entering cold water is to do it in one simple movement. Don't slowly go into the water but do it immediately. And that's what you did. At first it was really cold, but after a while it was kind of pleasant and you stayed in the water, swimming and having water battles with Greg all day. And there you two were, laughing loudly in the cold water while thick trees shielded you from all unwelcome eyes.

Greg must be such good company in the water! We actually have a river-ish thing where I am now and the water is freezing cold! But I love to walk through it! My cousins and sister always go into the water really, really slowly. But here's a hint: never do that! I always jump in and that's the best way to do it! I must confess it's also the coldest, but you'll get used to it pretty quickly! ;-)
Jim Moriarty: As you were complaining in the living room with a glass of water balancing in your hand, Jim entered the room and sat down next to you. 'You look terrible.' He chuckled. 'I know. Thank you, I guess.' You answered. 'Oh, no sorry. Don't be angry.' He said and wrapped his arms around you, moving you from the left to the right.
You freed yourself immediately and looked at Jim's face when you did. He looked really surprised that you had refused his embrace. 'Are you really that angry?' He asked amazed. You showed him a smile. 'I'm not angry, Jim. Not at all. It's just really hot and don't need any other person's body warmth when it's this warm.' You answered. Jim smirked at you. 'I think I can fix that.'
He rushed out of the room and not much later you heard him curse in the kitchen. 'What's wrong?' You asked. 'Nothing. There just aren't any ice cubes anymore.' Said Jim. You looked at your glass filled with water and the five last ice cubes in it. 'Oops...' You softly said and drank from your deliciously cold drink.
Jim came back anyway. Not with ice cubes, but with frozen vegetables and meat. Basically all the things you had put in the freezer now lay in his hands and he placed it all around you. Frozen peas in packing and green beans packings now touched your skin and Jim threw a frozen carrot packing on your head.
'Ouch!' You said. 'That hurts; those things are frozen!' Jim grinned a 'sorry' and lay down next to you. He took off his shirt to gain extra cold and now once again wrapped his arms around you. 'What about now? Do you need some extra body warmth?'
So there you lay on the couch, a shirtless Jim next to you and both covered with frozen vegetables.

Hi there!
Are you sweating and complaining like me? This probably wasn't the best preference I've made, but the heat is so unbearable that I can't really think straight! I hope you liked it anyway since I did my best on it!
Hint to survive the heat: put an ice pack on your pulse or keep in under cold running water for 30 seconds: it will certainly cool down your blood!
I just keep on imagining Loki Laufeyson turning into his frost giant form and sitting close to me with all his pleasant cold but then I remember he's played by Tom and it's not working anymore! I bet Marvel fans know what I mean! (Sorry if you don't know Marvel!)
