'Are you sure you have to leave?' I asked Greg who was putting on his coat. 'Yes, I do. I have to work. New Year's Eve is a busy day in the hospital and in the fire station, but also in the police station.' I nodded in understanding. 'I know, I just wish it was different.' He gave me a quick kiss on my cheek. 'I'll be back tomorrow morning, be careful, okay? Don't do anything stupid.'

And with that said he left.

One shouldn't be alone on Christmas, that's horrible, but being alone on New Year's Eve isn't that nice either. And I really had nice plans this year. All of them involving Greg. I guess this New Year's Eve turned out to be quite different that I had expected...

Greg's P.O.V.

'Someone must talk to that new one in jail. And I'm busy with that firework-bomb so Greg, could you go?' The man said and smiled at me. 'Not my division.' I answered shortly and continued working. 'Please Greg.' The man tried again and I sighed before rising. 'Fine, I'll do it.' I said and grabbed the keys from the hook.

I walked over to the temporary-mini-jail we had in this building, cursing the person that was there since I could go home after my work was done and this foolish person kept me from my work thus he kept me from celebrating New Year's Eve with my love.

'Alright then, tell me what you've done.' I started and opened the door of the jail. There, in the doorway, I froze as I saw who was in jail. Astonished and confused, I stared at the face that looked up to see me. It smiled, and I recognised that smile for it was the smile of the one I love.

'What are you doing here?!' I asked confused.

'I'm sitting out my time in jail.' She said smiling. 'No one has ever said that with a smile on one's face.' I said and locked the door behind me. 'What have you done?'

Her smile became brighter. 'I've made some passengers think I was trying to blow up the English Parliament with a firework-bomb.' She admitted. 'I told you you shouldn't do anything stupid!' I protested but she merely shrugged her shoulders.

'Always look on the bright side of life, Greg. Now, go back to your office, take some coffee that could serve as champagne and come back so we could celebrate this evening together.'

I shook my head with a smile on my face and went to get us some coffee. This New Year's Eve wasn't as I expected, but it sure was original and really fun as we spent the entire night in jail.

(P.S. the picture I've put above is how he'd look when he sees you're in jail! "I told you you shouldn't do anything stupid!")
