'Jim!' I shouted. 'Jim, where are you?' The house seemed to be empty, no Jim around me. I searched through all the chambers but he had simply disappeared into thin air. Gone. Just like that.

'Jim?' I asked again and wanted to leave the house, convinced that he wasn't there, but a note on the door kept me from leaving. It said:

"I need some time, my lover sweet,

Some time to arrange some things before we meet,

So search for the second note where,

I ev'ry morning greet your face so wondrous fair,

And search on until the hour is complete."

I smiled because of the unexpected kindness and rhyming scheme. So I will meet Jim in one hour and have to search for notes to pass the time. The first, of course, would be found in the bedroom so I rushed up the stairs, stumbling because of my curiosity. There I found a second one on the left side of the bed. It read:

"This place is magical because here,

I ev'ry night can hold you near,

Well done, the second note is found,

The third is hidden on higher ground,

Where we watched the sun disappear."

And so I rushed to the roof, where I found a note with a brick on top of it. I removed the brick and took the third note in my hands. On it was written:

"Here we sat side by side, watching night turning into day,

And every time I would look across and not say,

The words that were on my mind,

For I was scared for the meaning they held behind,

But find me outside and I'll might say them anyway."

Only ten minutes had passed so I waited forty-five minutes before I went out of the door, granting Jim some times as I slowly died of curiosity. After forty-five minutes, I ran towards the door to see no one standing there.

Maybe I hadn't given him enough time? I wanted to walk back into the house disappointed when I saw something nearing me from afar. It became bigger and bigger and when I was able to distinguish forms I knew that it was my Jim who was nearing me.

In a carriage.

With horses.

'Greetings to you!' Said Jim happily when he was close enough. His eyes shining with pride and happiness. 'Why, don't you just stand there. Hop on!' Said he as he saw me frozen of amazement. Jim helped me get into the carriage. 'Jim...' I asked astonished, '...what is all this?'

'Well,' started Jim, 'everyone is always so standard on Valentine's day, I decided to do a little more. How did you like my Valentine serenade-notes?' Asked Jim after he let the horses walk again.

'Amazing! I didn't know you were such a poet. But I wouldn't call them "serenades", serenades are sung, Jim.' I said teasingly and listened to the jolly horses' footsteps. 'Well, live with it; I don't sing.' Said Jim, satisfied by my joyful smile. 'But I'd do anything for you when you really want me to, my love. Whatever it is, I'm here for you, okay? Do you know why? It's because I love you dearly.'

I hugged him tightly as we rode off. And there I stayed all the way: comfortable in the loving arms of my Valentine poet-prince.
