I tapped my thumbs along my lap, pondering over the small, blue diamond ring that my friend was observing. The question of the day was: is it the right time?.. Two months is not long, but this kinda feels..right. I just need a third opinion from a loyal friend to finally make my decision, to make sure I'm doing the right thing.

Irvine, for the first time in a long time, lost for words. She held onto the ring while staring down at it, "I-It seems ancient, probably from her grandmother."

"Pro: She gave me her grandmother's ring- an heirloom. Got it." I said while taking a deep breath.

Irvine took a deep breath as well, "I'm so shocked. It's amazing, I mean she asked after two months. That's so romantic. How did she ask?"

I got to say, Violet proposal was not as romantic I expected it to be. Even though I never suspected myself to get married, I did expected a romantic gesture; like a night at the beach, or dinner. I cleared my throat while rubbing the back of my neck, "She tongue fucked me into a climax before proposing."

Irvine mouth gapped open in shock, "Wow, okay then. That's sorta romantic, kinda. It doesn't matter about the presentation, it's about the delivery."

"Uh.."

"The delivery was bad too?"

"Uh, no. It was unexpected. Pro: Violet told me to think about it."

Irvine gave me two thumbs up, "Great." She placed the ring in my hand. "So, you want my opinion?"

I nod my head yes, "Definitely."

Irvine sighed heavily before flipping her head over her shoulders, "Um, honestly...No, it's way too soon."

I lost my breath, once again. "No?"

"I mean, two months is not enough time to know someone truly. What do you know about Violet other than her outer layer of life? Do you know her past? Her inner core? Other than sex, what do you two have in common?"

"Well..." I thought and thought until I came up with an answer. "Oh shit." I rubbed my eyes and groaned.

Irvine sighed before clearing her throat, "What my mom would say in this situation: 'Follow your heart and wish for the best..' If you think this is right, then go for it."

I groaned once more and smacked my cheeks, "This is more complicated than the time I wanted to major in literature or business."

"Okay, this is different. Take some time, think about it."

Then I thought... and thought...and thought again until I was standing outside her door. I palmed the ring box in my sweaty hands. I knocked on her door twice and waited until I saw those sugar gray eyes I fell deeply in love with.

Violet stood there with a small smile upon her face, she looked tired as if she stayed up all night; but that didn't stop her from forcing out a smile that made her glow. "Aphrodite, hey."

"Can I come in?" I went straight in, not waiting for her answer. The apartment was the same from where I left it, being that it was only twenty-four hours since I've been here. However I still looked around to find something new or out of place, to see if this whole thing isn't a dream or hallucination. Which it's not, which made things easy but also hard.

"So," Violet followed behind me into the open living room of hers. I just realized we had sex in her more than twice, those wonderful memories came to mind. Then other memories flowed through my head when I looked at her. Then I realized Violet has actually left Barcelona behind, just to stay here for me; knowing it's no business here for her. She stayed by my side when I tried to push her away, and I stayed by hers even though I knew she had a lot of relationships with other women. The thoughts made my choice easy but also hard. "You thought about it?"

I nod my head in confirmation, "Maybe we should sit." I gestured towards the couch before taking a seat.

Violet followed suit, her forced smile now into a concerned frown. She ran her fingers through her hair while sighing, probably preparing herself for the worse. "What's your decision?"

I cleared my throat and opened the ring box, "Um, I've asked two women I hold close to my hearts; I needed advice. They all say it's too soon, two months is not that long- which I agree to that. We barely know each other enough, I don't even know your past except for your parents and other than the records you found on me, you barely know me." I pointed out. "Then they say follow your heart but it's being pulled in two directions. So I thought, long and hard about this."

"And?"

"And I think yes, but we can't get married right away. We need to know more about each other before we jump the broom or doing anything else. So yes, I will marry you." I took the ring out the box and placed it on the appropriate finger. "However until the wedding and until both of us feel comfortable to take this next step in life, I will be staying with Irvine in our apartment. It'll be the same thing from before you popped the question, it's just we're engaged."

Violet let out a breath that she's been holding in apparently, "Okay, okay we can do that. How about we go on a date? A awesome restaurant..."

"Maybe we should do a simple, humble dinner at Applebee's."

Violet gave me a very confused look, "Why Applebees?"

"Well, in order to know one another, we should to get out of our comfort zones- you going to a middle class place is out of your comfort zone. Next week we can go to one of the fancy restaurants you're so use to and I'm not." I also pointed out.

"Okay, I can do that." She grabbed both of my hands. "I love you." She kissed my lips, making me smile from ear to ear.

"I love you too."

Now that I have one thought out of the way, I have to get rid of the other one. I paced the large room of my new home, surrounded by unpacked boxes. My phone was up to my ear, while I waited for whoever to answer. The phone ring two more times before someone answered.

"Hello," A woman's voice full of irritation and boredom said.

I had a whole plan, but it all went out the window when I heard my mother's voice; well I think that's who she is. "Hello, is this Barnes residence."

She sighed heavily, "Listen, I don't want what you're selling okay."

"No, I'm not selling anything. My name is Kaxity White, um.. Are you Sara Barnes?" If I wanted to do this, I needed to make sure she's my biological mother.

"Yes, why are you calling?"

"Twenty-three years ago you gave up a baby, a girl..."

"Oh shit, oh my god..." Sara groaned before sighing heavily. "Kaxity, um.."

"I'm your daughter! Surprise."

"Oh fuck."

I didn't really hear excitement nor shock in her voice, it was full of regret and disappointment. "That doesn't sound pleasing. I thought I'll get some shock."

"I am surprised. Um, the adoption agency said my identity would be secure."

"Yeah, um I have connections that found you. I'm sorry, I didn't want to pop up at your door than it'll be weird. Sorry, this was a mistake." I stated while rubbing my forehead. "Thank you for your time."

"But wait, I have a son- you have a brother. Maybe we can pick a day to meet up, besides you and both know we should make sure we're who we say we are." Sara chuckled, maybe meet half way in Ohio?"

"Uh, sure. I can do that." Maybe I can get Violet to pull some strings to get me there.

"Great, um call me when you have a date."

"Okay, bye." I ended the call immediately, I groaned while rubbing my eyes.

A sharp knock came upon my door before Irvine walked into my room with an uneasy smile. "Hey bud."

"Oh no, bad news?"

Irvine shook her head then nod, "Kinda. Someone is here for you, her name is Bethany."

"How did she know where I am?!" I stormed out the room and made my way downstairs. Before I turned that corner I slowed down my pace and forced out a smile. "Bethany, hello. What are you doing here?" And how did you find me?!..

Bethany from ear to ear before pulling out a thick file, "I've heard of their proposal, congrats. I just wanted to give you a heads up before you commit to Violet, she came be a scoundrel sometimes."

I grabbed the file from her hands and dropped my smile, "Bethany know you and Violet has some sister rival thing going on, but I don't want to be apart of it." I hand back the file. "Sorry, but no. I love Violet and whatever you say won't change anything."

Bethany smirked and walked past me to place the thick file on a near by glass table. "Love? The big L, wow. Listen as you future sister-in-law, I just want to warm you that Violet can switch her mind very quickly. So if she no longer see an interest in her lovely wife, you can use the information as a leverage to take her for her money."

I gave her a disapproving look, "You are a wicked woman, you should go." I opened the door, gesturing her to leave. Bethany gave me a small smile before she left the apartment. I closed the door behind her, more like slam.

"Whoa," Irvine chuckled while looking through file. "Holy shit."

"Stop, don't read that." I snatched the file out of her hands. "Obviously it's lies. Bethany is evil, I could see that now; Violet is right."

Irvine groaned while reaching for the file, "I want to see.."

"No, go busy yourself with something else. I gotta go," I stuffed the file into my purse.

"Should I do some background research on Miss Bethany?"

"Knock yourself out, see ya. Mawh." I gave her an air kiss before leaving.

After cooking and sitting Mike and Neavia down so we can talk, I didn't tell them about the engagement; not yet at least. When we finished our little talk, I went upstairs and sat on my bed with the thick file in front of me. I rubbed the back of my neck, "What the hell am I doing?" I asked myself.

I took a deep breath before stuffing the file into my night stand drawer. I took out my phone, my thoughts about the file immediately went out the window.
