I was in the green room waiting to go on Jimmy Fallon. They where about to start the show when a knock came at the door. I looked up as Jimmy came into the room.
"Hey Brittany. I just wanted to stop by before we start and say thank you for coming. I'm glad you could finally make it. You're here to promote your album and that's what we'll talk about. I will ask a couple of questions though about the rehab if that's ok," he said after he shook my hand.
"Yes that's fine. Is the band good with backing me up tonight?" I asked in return as Abby came in with with Eric and Ollie. Kurt and Meredith were sick again and stayed home with Frances and Scotty.
"They sure are. You'll be the first guest so watch through the tv monitor and then we'll do the lip sync battle and you'll be back at the end to perform. I'll see you out there," Jimmy said before he walked out.
"You ready for this?" Abby asked as I started bouncing my knees up and down.
"I just want to get it over with. I'm not ok with him asking about the rehab at all. It's not like I was out being Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton," I replied.
"Just be polite and answer them without being bitchy. You get this done and over with and you get to go see Dave and I can see Taylor and the other guys can take these two adorable little monsters so I can do unmentionable things to T," Abby said. I started laughing as the show started.
"We have a great show tonight. We finally have Brittany Lane to promote her amazing album. I think I heard a rumor that she wants to take me on in a lip sync battle so we'll be doing that as well. We also have Mark Wahlberg on tonight and then Brittany will be back to perform a special single that will be available for download after the show with a special guest band," Jimmy said on the tv in my green room.
"Special guest band? I thought it was just the house band," I said as Jimmy went on with whatever he was doing tonight.
"I thought so too," Abby said as she looked away from me. She knew something.
"You know something. What is it girlie? Spit it out," I said as Eric walked over to ema nd I picked him up.
"I don't know anything. You're nuts," She replied, keeping her eye on the tv.
"I know you know. You won't look at me," I said.
"Snitches get stitches," she said back as a knock came at the door. I knew that was my cue. I put Eric down on the couch beside me and stood up.
"We need you behind the curtain Mrs Grohl," the young woman said. I looed at Abby and smiled. She knew I liked being called that just a little too much.
"Go knock em dead Mrs. Grohl," Abby said with a wink. I followed the young woman to whee I had to stand and wait. I waited patiently as Jimmy started talking again.
"She's finally here to talk about her amazing solo album My Personal Soundtrack which is covers of songs that mean the world to her. Please welcome back Brittany Lane," Jimmy said and the curtain opened. I smiled and waved before giving Jimmy and hug and walking around the desk to the chair.
"Hi Jimmy," I said after I sat down.
"Hey Brittany. How are you?" he asked.
"I'm pretty good I guess. How are you?" I asked in response.
"I'm good. Now let's just get these questions out of the way so we can move on to talking about this wonderful album who've done. You recently got out of rehab. What happened?" Jimmy asked. I made a slight face before smiling at him.\
"I had a slip after a couple of years being clean and I realised I wasn't doing a good enough job on my own anymore. So I went in to get some help and tools to help me maybe break the streak of 7 years clean," I replied.
"So you're good now? You and Dave are doing good?" Jimmy asked.
"I'm doing amazing now. Dave and I are obviously doing amazing as well. I mean look at this," I said as I stood up and pointed at my small bump. I had worn a tight dress for thi reason. I sat back down and smiled sweetly.
"Congratulations. Wow uh Dave didn't say anythign about this when they where on last night. How far along are you?" jimmy asked.
"I'm 15 weeks. I'm surprised Dave didn't say anything. He never shuts up about it from what I hear from the guys," I replied with a laugh.
"So you guys are back together and having another baby. You have 3 together correct?" Jimmy asked.
"Yes. There's Kurt and Meredith the twins who are 4 and Eric who is 2. He's Dave's mini me. Virginia showed me a picture of Dave at Eric's age and I was just in complete awe," I replied.
"So if Dave ever retires we can just replace him with Eric when he's old enough," Jimmy said. I laughed and snorted, which made me cover my mouth with my hand.
"We totally could. Gotta wait til he's atleast 21 so Dave if you're watching you can retire in 19 years," I said and winked at the camera.
"So your album. Why did you decide to do a solo album?" he asked.
"I have just always been into music. I can express myself the best with what I listen to because I don't care who sings a song. If the lyrics are good or it's got a good beat I can dance to or if it's amazing drums, bass and guitars with amazing lyrics then I love it. I'm a slut when it comes to music," I said with a laugh.
"I've heard that somewhere before," Jimmy said which made me laugh a little more.
"Dave's the same way. He's said so. That's probably where you heard it," I replied and smiled like a dork.
"So what's your favorite song out of all of them on this album?" Jimmy asked. My eyes went wide as I started thinking. I grabbed the record cover from him and looked at the songs on the back which caused him to laugh. I skimmed it quickly and smiled as I put it back on the desk.
"I had to refresh my brain. I think I would honestly have to say I Got You Babe. I've been listenign to Cher's Love Hurts album for as long as I can freaking remember. My dad had the cd which I eventually ended up taking. Sorry Dad. But there would be no Cher without Sonny. I watched the move And The Beat Goes On which is obviously about Sonny and Cher and at the end Sonny said something that just really touched me and brought tears to my eyes. He said 'If anyone ever asked me one thing to say to everyone, not that anyone ever has or will, but I would tell them Believe In Magic and It'll Happen.' I was getting over a bad break up and when I heard Believe In Magic and It'll Happen, I found my hope again," I replied.
"So when did Nirvana and Foo Fighters come in cause Cher and Sonny and Cher is way different from them?" Jimmy asked.
"Nirvana came in shortly after I was over my break up. Then my ex and I were friends with benefits and I was doing drugs again and I just felt like I was done with everything. I said in my head f it i'm done with life and then Smells Like Teen Spirit came on my shuffle when I started it and when the drummign started I was like wait this is awesome and I was like I need more of this. Then Foo Fighters came about a week before christmas when I was 26. The Pretender was my first Foo Fighters song and I was like this is amazing. That's the drummer from nirvana oh my god. He's my hero," I said and started laughing.
"Well you started believing in magic and look what happened. You married your hero," Jimmy said.
"Believe in magic and it'll happen folks," I said and looked out at the audience innocently.
"Everyone go pick up a copy of My Personal Soundtrack out now in stores and available on itunes for download. It's also available in the Foo Fighters Online store I've been told. Ok after the break Brittany and I will being going head to head in a lip sync battle. Are you read for this?" Jimmy asked.
"I've been waiting years for this," I replied.
"We'll be right back after the break," Jimmy said and they yelled cut.
"Dave seriously didn't say a word about the baby yesterday," Jimmy said as we headed towards the band.
"I don't think he knew I was going to be confirming the rumors today," I replied as we were each handed a mic to hold.
"Well congratulations to you guys," Jimmy said and hugged me quickly.
"Thanks. Whose the special guest band I'm performing with?" I asked.
"You'll see," Jimmy said and winked at me.
Something was up and I was getting seriously weirded out. The camera man started counting and then the show started again. Jimmy and I said a few things back a forth before he started with Peace Punk's Broken Glass. I couldn't help but laugh at him as he lip synced along to me. After that I did Girls Just Want To Have Fun and Jimmy did Monkey Wrench which made me laugh. When it was my turn again, I had worked it out with Mark backstage for him to come out and do a live lip sync version of Good Vibrations. Jimmy was shocked, just like he had when Seth Rogen did it with the house band. Afterwards Mark and I hugged and I thanked him. I went back to my green room and saw Taylor there.
"Look who came to surprise us," Abby said as they both looked at me.
"Hey Taytay," I said and hugged him.
"Hey Britt. Dave's back at the hotel. Chris, Nate and Pat are getting their guitars tuned. We're the special band," Taylor said. I hugged him again.
"Why didn't Dave come down?" I asked once we pulled apart.
"He's got an interview I think," he replied. Nate and Chris walked into the room then and I hugged both of them as well. They also both said Dave was at an interview as well.
"Everyone go check out Ted 3 in theatres next friday. Mark thank you for being here. After the break Britney Lane will be back to perform her newest single that will available for download on itunes after the show," Jimmy said and they yelled cut. The guys and I headed out of the green room and met Pat on the way. We hugged briefly and kept walking. I took the mic someone handed me and walked out to where I needed to be. The guys took their places around me and I closed my eyes and just breathed.
"Here to perform her new single Loved, a song orginally done by Lucy Hale, here's Brittany Lane and the Foo Fighters," Jimmy said and I looked up as the song started. I looked straight ahead and smiled as I started singing. As I started the second part of the first verse, I looked to my right and saw Dave was playing the acoustic guitar and I smiled as I sang. After the first chorus I walked over to Dave and sang the second verse and chrous to him. I finished the song where I had started it and afterwards Dave walked over to me and kissed me on the cheek.
"Everyone make sure you buy Brittany Lane's new single Loved on Itunes after the show. Thank you Brittany for coming and joining us tonight. Guys thanks for coming again tonight. The Foo Fighters everyone. We'll be abck after this break," Jimmy said and then someone yelled cut again.
"Surprise," Dave said before he kissed my cheek again.
"You could have just told me," I replied.
"What's the fun in that? I sent Taylor to find Abby so that you weren't completely shocked," He said as we walked backstage to the green room holding hands.
"You're too sneaky sometimes but I like it. I loved my surprise," I replied.
"Good. I missed you. Are all the kids here too?" Dave asked as I grabbed my purse and put my jacket on.
"No just Eric. Twins are sick. I missed you too," I replied as I turned around to face him. He wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed me. We were still kissing when a knock came at the door.
"Woah hey sorry. Do you want me to come back?" I heard Mark asked and I pulled away from Dave.
"No it's fine. Thanks again for helping me out earlier," I said as I walked over and shook Mark's hand.
"Hey no problem. I was actually coming in here to ask for your autograph for my daughters. They're huge fans and would be mad as hell if I didn't ask you," Mark said.
"Only if I can get yours. I seriously love the Ted movies and pretty much anything you do," I replied.
"Sounds like a plan to me. You should come audition for this movie I'm about to start work on. They can't find a female lead. You'd be perfect for it. We can even work around the baby bump," Mark said as I signed two pieces of paper, one for Ella and one for Grace.
"I'm up for anything. I need to do more movies," I replied as I handed them to him. I dug into my purse and pulled out the little book I kept in it for this type of thing and handed it to him. He signed it and gave it back.
"Whose your manager? I'll set it up for you," he asked.
"John Silva," I replied and Dave gave Mark John's card.
"Thanks Dave. I'll set it up and you should expect a call soon. Have a good night guys," Mark said and left. I turned around and gave Dave my excited smile and he smiled back.
"Did you hear back from the housewives thing?" he asked as we headed out of the room.
"Ya I did. It doesn't matter though," I smiled at him as we headed towards the car.
"It does matter. Did you get it?" he asked as we stepped outside and ran towards the car. Once we were inside, I looked at him.
"I did," I replied.
"Babe that's fucking great. Is it for the part you wanted and auditioned for?" Dave asked getting excited as the car drove off to take us to the venue for the show tonight.
"I did but I'm pregnant Dave. I can't be working all the time and raising our kids. If you suggest Frances come help again you're nuts," I replied. I got a text and saw it was Abby saying her and Taylor had Eric with them and Ollie.
"There's always a nanny. Don't give me that look. She can watch the kids while your on set. We've done it before and you are a good mother but if you want to do this tv show and the movie if you get it then do it. We'll get a to be with them just when you can't be," he said as we pulled up to the venue.
"I'll think about it ok?" I said and smiled softly.
"Ok. I'm not pressuring you to work. I'm just saying if you want to do them then we'll figure out a way to do things," Dave replied as we got out of the car.
"I know. I just don't know if I really want to do a show. That's the main thing. A movie I can do. It's not on going like a tv show could be," I said in response as we walked inside the venue.
"Well I hate to sound like a broken record but whatever you want we'll work on a way to make it happen," he said. I stopped and smiled at him and he leaned in and kissed me. I knew we had this as we headed to the dressing room so he could get ready for sound check.
