A week.
That's how little time Misha has left to live. Maybe a few days more, maybe a few days less. The doctors aren't exactly sure, they just know his lungs are going to shut down..soon.
Misha lies in the hospital bed, his chest gently rising up and down. I know that in just days his breaths will become shallow and, eventually, will stop.
I hold his cold and clammy hands and he turns his head to face me. His deep blue eyes scan mine, tears brimming.
"I'm so sorry. I wish there was something I could do." I apologize, feeling useless.
"Gracie..there's nothing you can do. You've helped me so much, and I'm so thankful for you." Misha whispers, attempting a smile.
The doctor, along with a few nurses, walk in the emergency room that Misha and I are in, interrupting our conversation.
The doctor, Dr. Reynolds, excitedly hugs Misha and I, beaming.
I give him an odd look.
"What happened? Why are you so..happy?" I ask, extremely confused and slightly angry that he is in such a good mood while Misha is lying here dying.
"I don't know how to put this. It's crazy..unheard of! The other doctors and I were so shocked at his test results." He explains, hardly able to contain his enthusiasm.
"Well, what is it?!" I begin to feel impatient.
"Misha, your lung cancer is completely gone!" Dr. Reynolds exclaims.
Misha eye's light up and a smile appears on his face. I can hardly react. I take a deep breath and process it all before pulling Misha into a hug. Tears stream down my cheeks and I am overwhelmed with the feeling of happiness. I've never been this blessed in my life.
"I can't believe this." I state , giving Misha's hand a squeeze.
"He must have a guardian angel." The doctor answers.
An then, a thought pops into my head. What if Misha's guardian angel is Jared?
"Jared.." I whisper to Misha. He smiles at the idea of Jared watching over him.
Misha sighs and rests his head back onto the soft pillow that lies on the hospital bed. He is still too weak to leave the hospital today. Although his cancer is gone, he is still sick. I inch my face closer to Misha's and he sits up to kiss me. A grateful, delighted kiss to celebrate the fact that Misha will live a full life.
I sit back in my chair and happily watch Misha; the grin on his face, his blue eyes watering..tears of joy, of course.
I think about Misha and I first meeting at the comic con. I was just another fan and he was my idol. Now, I'm married to him. We're in love, and he's the greatest thing that's ever happened to me.
And to think, this all started from one lost necklace.
