Unexpected Love

Chapter 33: Grace's P.O.V

I happily take a seat at Starbucks, drinking coffee while on my phone.
I'm on my lunch break. Yes, I finally got hired at Hot Topic. It took a lot of effort, but I'm hoping it was worth it.
I quickly check my Twitter to see my notifications at around 2,000. I check twice to see if I'm on the right account, only to find I have over 10k followers. I see comments on my pictures like, "Omg you're dating Misha?!"
I guess they found out somehow. I sigh and set down my phone, throwing my garbage away and heading back to work.

Not many people are coming in today, so I browse the Supernatural section. I find some new merch like bracelets and necklaces, wishing I had more money to buy it. But I have to save up for college.
I stare at the clock until my shift is over and walk back to my car. The weather is extremely hot, so I turn on my A.C on all the way.
I arrive at my house in about ten minutes to find my mom sitting at the kitchen table with her head in her hands. "Hey mom." I say, walking over to her. She doesn't answer, but I can hear her sniffling. "Are you okay?" I ask, suddenly starting to worry. She turns around, her face blotchy and red with tears coming down her face.
"I tried to call you Gracie." she whispers, sobbing even harder.

"What happened?" I reply.

"Your dad...he got in a car accident." my mom answers.

"Wait what?! Is he okay?" I yell, hoping he's alright.

"Gracie...your dad passed away at the scene."

My heart stops. "No. No. No." I repeat, tears falling. My mom stands up, pulling me into a hug. I hold on to her tightly, refusing to let go. By now, I'm sobbing, unable to breath. My mom guides me up to my room, lying me on my bed. "Get some sleep baby." she tells me calmly, but I can tell she's in so much pain. She pushes a strand of hair behind my ears, kissing my cheek. I grab her hand before she walks out of the room. I, unable to talk, shove my head in my pillow, crying harder and harder every minute.
