It wasn't a conscious decision.
It was never said out loud.
The exact time that Ella & Noah came into being was unknown. It was not a moment that could be pin pointed. It was a role that simply transitioned into being.
Perhaps, by not knowing quite what they were, it meant less pressure on their relationship with each other. No title defined how they should act. They simply were.
However, not using (normal) societal constructs to limit and define their existence opened them up to a whole new world.
There were no first dates.
There were no awkward meet the parents Sunday lunches.
There were no expectations.
