He thought he was smart by playing metal music, little did he know that I actually liked it. I just had to sit still so that I wouldn't wake the neighbors. So I sat back and listened to the music with a smile on my face, contemplating my next move.

There was no going back to my world, not yet anyway. I had a job to do and I wasn't allowed to return until I had completed it to their satisfaction and I was a long way off getting that.

First thing I had to do was move and this time, I wouldn't be alerting the school to my new address. I'd then have to maintain a sizable distance and observe from there.

But that didn't help with the newest part of my objective. Successful completion of part two meant that I had to be close, much closer than we were now. Not that we were close now, I'd managed to piss Brannon off rather well. At least I was successful in something.

I sighed as I rested my head against the back of the lounge, the smile was gone as I thought about part two of the assignment, get close without an intimate connection, build a friendship that will allow the passing of information to you with ease.

Lying wasn't my thing, I had issues with dishonesty. Maybe if I were to actually be a friend then I'd complete the mission without being a liar. I'd have to be careful to ensure that no one got hurt, another issue of mine. I didn't want to actually hurt someone, intentionally or otherwise. This was a nightmare of epic proportions.

Closing my eyes, I waited for the time to pass before the bond would break and I would be free.

The alarm on my phone rang, my body jolted with fright. As my body moved, the bonds broke. Then my own personal nightmare was unleashed upon me. The music increased rather dramatically, booming through the tiny space as confetti rained down upon me.

Bright colored balloons began to slowly fall to the floor, bobbing against each other in vast numbers. Between the balloons, the confetti and the streamers, I was drowned in my own personal party.

The neighbor began to thump on the wall, yelling that it was too early in the morning for a party. Or at least I think he said that, it was a little hard to hear him. Worse yet, I couldn't turn it off.

Wading through the sea of balloons, I searched for my phone and turned off the alarm. Silence filled the room and I sighed with relief. It would have been nice if the rest of the party had left but unfortunately I was still surrounded by a rainbow.

Glancing at the clock, I realised that I was running out of time fast. With a wave the sea of colour was gone, replaced with the much more boring wood floors. I quickly changed into clean clothes, having to ignore the shower this morning I hoped no one would notice. I had a schedule to keep.

Racing to the school wasn't easy when it seemed that everyone was determined to get in my way. After learning that the queen was heavily pregnant, I realised that it wasn't her that was dropping the children at school. This was my only chance to see the devil in the flesh and I was desperate to see what he was really like.

All I'd ever seen was a black limousine pull up outside the front doors, Brannon and his two sisters got out and that was it. There was a really good chance that after yesterday's run in with Emery, the devil would be here to see her.

I leaned on the wall of the building, I was perched on the first level of the fire escape. My position was perfect, hidden and had a great view of the cars as they pulled up to let the kids out. Even though I was a short distance away, I hid myself from the passing world. No one could see me, no one knew that I was here.

My heart quickened as I watched the limousine slide to a stop, Brannon's eldest sister was out the door first. She didn't wait for the others, more interested in her friends who were waiting at the bottom of the steps for her. Brannon stepped out and the girls watched with rather large smiles.

Watching through the lens of the camera, I took a couple of photos in quick succession. Brannon's head turned, searching the street with a frown. It was likely that he could sense me, he knew I was nearby.

The youngest sister stepped out of the car, turning back with her arms held up. My heart lurched as I took a pained gulp, looking as the lithe figure stepped out of the vehicle. I could see happiness on the devils face as he picked up the child, her head rested on his shoulder as they walked into the school.

Taking a series of photos until they walked through the door, I tried to quell the rising panic. The devil was beautiful, he was everything that I had been warned about. He could have you on your knees, begging to become a part of his world. Even from a distance I could see the suave and sophisticated man that could ensnare the most hardened soul. Being strong was my only defense against him, avoiding him was the best option.

But as I flicked through the images of Brannon, I began to realise that avoiding this family was never going to happen. Not when I saw something that I liked.

"Is this a test of my faith and devotion?" I whispered.

There was no response, as expected.

"Why did you make them so fascinating? Why does my heart beat harder when I look at him? Why does my soul cry when he walks away?"

Frustration filled me as tears began to spill.

"Tell me damn it! How can I remain true when you tempt me in such a way?"

I wiped the tears away, remembering that it was not my kind that tempted. Anger filled me and as I jumped over the fire escape to the ground, I knew there was one way to end it.
