"...Or so the legend says; I'm not even sure anymore."

Hoseok stared at his dongsaeng carefully as he spoke, the room they were in dark and silent, the only light being a candle placed on the table between them.

Jimin had a sheet wrapped around him, in an attempt to seem scarier thanks to the dim light the flame emitted, but all Hoseok could think about was how boring his story had been. "I guess that we could go check it out if you're really not that scared, hyung," the youngest one said, a sly smile on his face. "I actually know where the house is located, so if you want..."

"The house has been demolished long ago," Hoseok said, suppressing a yawn as he remembered the debris left by the company that took down the small building. "Besides, you said it yourself, you're not even sure of how the legend goes."

"Oh, come on, it's Halloween!" Jimin exclaimed. "It's the spookiest night of the year, let's do something fun!"

The older one stared at the guy who once was his roommate and wondered why the hell he had come all the way back to his house just to 'do something fun' on Halloween night, but although he wasn't exactly pleased by his presence he wasn't bothered by it either; to be completely honest, Hoseok couldn't care less about anything that happened. Work had him tired as hell, and he hadn't had time to properly relax for a while, and he could use some company to keep his mind busy.

Sighing, he nodded yes, making his friend jump up with excitement as he got up and let the sheet fall from his head. Jimin ran toward the door, grabbing Hoseok's keys on the way, and Hoseok had to stop him there, telling him that he shouldn't forget his coat before going out. Even after all that time had passed, he still felt like a big brother to him.

The dark street was definitely not empty but it was still eerily distant to him. He hadn't walked down that road in a while, and the feeling of unease grew with each step he took. "Are you nervous, hyung?" Jimin asked with a playful tone as he walked besides him, pulling him out of his train of thought. When he looked at his friend, he noticed the big smile plastered on his face. "You know we can always turn around and go back to your place, right?"

"I'm not scared, if that's what you're implying, Jiminnie," he said as a small laugh escaping from his lips, but it was obvious that it was more of a nervous laugh than anything else. Scratching the back of his head, he added, "Anyways, do we still have a long way? I can't even remember where the house was at." The younger one looked down the road, and the big smile disappeared little by little as he slowly stopped walking until he froze in place, his eyes as big as plates. "Is there anything wrong?" Hoseok turned around and looked at him; his worry made him think of the worst things sometimes, but this time around he couldn't even make anything up.

Suddenly, Jimin raised his hand, his index finger pointing at something down the street; looking up, he could feel every single hair on his hair standing up and a chill running down his spine as he also stood still with his mouth slightly open.

In the same place that was supposed to have debris still lying around, a tiny two-storied house remained as tall as possible, its paint almost all gone, the windows covered by wood planks and the roof somewhat broken down. He tried to say something but nothing came out; he wanted to run away, but his feet wouldn't respond, and all he could do was walk toward the place, even if his mind was doing nothing but warning him of the danger that could be waiting for him inside.

"Hyung, what are you doing?" he could hear his companion whispering, but he did not stop. After a moment, he heard him running until he was next to him, Jimin's nervous hand getting a firm grip of his jacket. "You're not going in there alone, I won't let you."

"Weren't you the one that suggested this in the first place?" he heard himself asking, but it sounded so foreign to him that he couldn't believe he had managed to speak again.

The hand on his left arm gripped it tighter, and he knew it would leave a mark after that night. He got no response as they kept on walking, and it was only when they were right in front of the worn-out wooden door that he got full hold of his senses again. Reaching out, he grabbed the knob and turned it around, the lock giving in easily just as he had suspected; a foul stench came from the inside, one that almost made him vomit. Covering his face with his arm and taking a deep breath of the outside air, and gathering all the courage he could find within himself, Hoseok walked in, the darkness of the house completely drowning him as soon as he stepped his foot inside.

Once their eyes grew used to the dimness and their noses to the smell, Hoseok could see that everything seemed way more preserved than what the outside of the building gave away; tables, couches, even utensils had apparently defeated the odds and appeared just as if they were brand new. If that had been a normal house nothing would've seemed weird to them, but it was impossible to ignore the bizarre feeling that being there put in their hearts.

"I've changed my mind, let's get out of here," Jimin said, startling him, who immediately agreed to it.

But their rush turned into shock and desperation as they reached the front of the house again. There was no door anymore. They were met with a plain old wall, painted in a faint light blue. Quickly, Hoseok took his phone out of his pocket and tried calling the police, but there was no signal, much to his dismay. "B-but, it was right here," he heard Jimin mutter to himself, the panic showing. "What the hell is going on?"

He ran to the windows, looking out and seeing that the street was as empty as it could be, yet he tried to scream for help anyways. "Is anyone there?" he yelled through the boards, "Help, we're trapped here!" Nothing. Silence was the only thing filling the empty space, and he went back to Jimin, who was now kneeling down, quietly crying. "Don't worry now, Jiminnie," putting a hand on his shoulder he noticed just how much his friend was shaking, and a few drops of sweat appeared on his forehead. "I'm sure we'll find a way out of here. Now come on, get up, we need to search the place to look for an escape route."

"Hoseok hyung," Jimin called out with a weak voice. "I... I-I'm sorry. If it hadn't been for me..." his voice trailed out as he started crying again, this time out loud.

"No, it's not the time to blame yourself. Just try to stay positive, alright?" Unable to do anything but weep, the youngest one looked away as he hugged him as tightly as possible, trying to put him back together. "Come on, I need your help. We're in this together and we're getting out of here together."

They both got up, and after turning on the flashlight on his phone Hoseok hugged his buddy's shoulders once more as they started to look through the ground floor, but finding nothing other than dust and old stuff made them feel defeated. Sighing, they walked back to the main hall and towards the stairs, and that's when he first heard it. It started off as a faint thing, but then it became more and more present.

A whisper, as soft as a breeze, started to resound in his mind.

The closet, it said. The main room.

It was a child-like voice, something that made him stop in his tracks as his eyes stared dumbfounded at the ceiling. "Is everything alright?" Jimin asked, but he didn't answer; instead, he led them to the first floor, and as soon as they were there his arm left Jimin's back. It felt like a force dragging him, something inviting. He could hear his friend walking closely besides him as if fearing to be left behind, but the main focus he had right there wasn't another human being.

The double door that separated him from the main room was made from a dark wood, and had little snakes and crows carved all over the frame. He knew it was bad luck, but he couldn't back down, not when the source of the voice was so close. "Can't you hear it?" he asked suddenly, but waited for no response as he pushed the door open.

Pointing the light at the inside, he saw the king-size bed, a red duvet covering it, and nothing else around except for the doors that led into the walk-in closet. There were a few roaches moving around, and as soon as he shone the light on them, some scattered around, making Jimin jump back a little bit as one of them passed right between his legs. Not waiting for him, Hoseok walked into the room, and just as if on cue a loud weeping started to echo around the place. His friend covered his ears but did not follow him in.

"It's here," he said unconsciously. "I can feel it."

"Hyung, come back, please, I'm begging you." The evident despair in the tone Jimin had used made him laugh out loud; it was a rough, raspy voice, and even in his slight state of trance he couldn't make out who was it that was laughing. "W... what's wrong with you?"

"I'm not your hyung anymore." Those were the last words he spoke before approaching the smaller doors, and without a second thought he opened them with all his strength.

The mixed smell of moss and blood filled his nostrils, but instead of making him sick it filled him with curiosity as he sniffed it a little bit more. It took him a moment to notice it, but the small girl sitting on the opposite end of the area was looking at him intensely. Her eyes were totally black and her skin white, the only thing that stood out being the blood running down from a deep cut on her neck. Approaching her, he could hear the door closing behind him and Jimin running in just to arrive late; he started to bang on the other side of the door, while Hoseok just stared at the girl.

At one point, Jimin seemed to notice something behind him, as the punches became more frenetic and hard until with one last, loud, bone-chilling scream from Jimin they stopped completely. It was only then that he spoke again, this time referring to the young lady in front of him, and he couldn't help but smile at the sight of her wound. She smiled as well, showing decayed yellow teeth and a few maggots wandering where her tongue should've been.

"Daddy brought you another one this year," he said, a deep, almost demonic voice coming from his throat. "Take good care of him."
