Nasapo niya ang ulo.Parang lalong kumirot iyon. "Bakit ka na naman nanggugulo?"

"Ilang araw ka ng ganyan, bro. Our parents are so worried. Si Georgi pa din?"

"Okay." Kumuha ito ng magazine at nagbasa. Pero tulad ng inaasahan, nagsalita na naman ito. "Yung girlfriend ko ngayon, may friend na pang-sexy star ang katawan. Gusto mo i-date?"
"Girlfriend 'ngayon'? Bakit iba na bukas?" He knows type ni Vonn ang mala-sexy star.
Pinindot niya ang intercom. "Mai, may paracetamol ka dyan?"

She smiled. "Welcome, sir." Then went out.
"Oh, baka matunaw ang secretary ko." Kung makatitig si Vonn, parang kakainin ng buhay si Maila.
"Payag ka bang i-date ko sya?"
"Are you kidding me? May girlfriend ka ngayon di ba?"
"Bukas wala."
He laughed at that. "Hindi pwede." Ayaw niyang mawalan ng efficient na sekretarya.
"Type mo sya?"
He looked at Vonn incredulously. "Ikaw, type mo." That was a statement. At hindi itinanggi ng loko. "Ang ganda at maayos na nagtatrabaho yung tao, guguluhin mo."
"Okay. Fine. Naka-score naman na ako e!"
"What?!" This guy's unbelievable! "Di nga?" Pero hindi ito sumagot. Nakakamangha din naman at mukang hindi apektado si Maila.
"Huy, ayokong mawalan ng sekretarya ha. Baka mag-resign yon sa mga pinaggagawa mo."
Nagkibit-balikat lang ang kambal niya.
"Bakit ka ba talaga nagpunta dito? Bukod sa gusto mong i-check kung type ko si Maila."
"Dad's having a party for you."
"Birthday ko?"
He laughed. "Of course not. Ewan ko rin kung bakit. But it's for you." Tumayo na ito. Pero tumayo lang.
"Oh, ba't andito ka pa?" Halatang may gusto pa itong sabihin.
"Could you order Maila to be my partner sa party? I can invite Len for you."

Megan rolled her eyes. "Don't be ridiculous!" Tumabi ito nang may dumaan sa glass door. Occasionally those people passing by is looking at her.
"May alam ka ba? Why are they like that?" Nagbulungan sila.
"They were adoring you! You're so paranoid." Alam nito ang history nila ni Adam.
"Why would they do that?" nagtatakang tanong niya.
"You better see for yourself." Hinila siya nito sa braso papasok ng glass door.
"Did I tell you about Seth?"
Natigil sila sa dulo ng hallway paliko sa cubicles. "Who's Seth?" Nagsalubong ang kilay nito na napalitan ng pagkagulat. "Ohmigash! You better tell me about him!"
She laughed. "Later! Sa lunchbreak."
"Promise?"
"Promise!" Magkasabay silang lumakad papunta sa cubicle niya. Magkatabi sila nito. Megan sat on the 2nd column, 5th row.
Nang paliko na sila..

So that explains the staring.

She opened the card, written in cursive were:

"Yes, Ma'am. Wait lang po--" tumawag ito sa intercom.
Hindi niya pinansin ang wait nito. Dumiretso siya. She kicked the door open.
Inabutan niyang may kausap si Adam sa phone.
"Sir, Pinigilan ko po sya---"
Tinaas lang ni Adam ang kamay. Then, he ended the phone call.
"Okay lang, Jess."
"Good morning, Sir." Si Megan. Then, she put the flowers down. "Una na po ako."
"No! You stay!" Nahihibang na ba ito para iwan siya don?
"You may go, Megan." Si Adam. Looking so bossy sitting on his swivel.
"I said, no!"
"You are not the boss here, Helena." Adam said using his bossy tone on her.
Of course, she was taken aback! Who was he kidding? And what was she thinking giving orders? Pero halata kay Megan na ayaw siya nitong iwan. Tumango na lang siya.
"I'll go ahead, sir."
Silence.
Katahimikan.
Nakakabingi.
"So?" Si Adam ang bumasag niyon.
"I'm giving these back."
"Why?"
"Didn't I make it clear? Tigilan mo na ko."
