This story takes place sometime in the beginning of the second age, before the Battle of Dagorlad, and when Mirkwood still was known as Greenwood the Great.
Oropher summoned his son, Thranduil, for a rather important meeting. It was about his son's future. He knew Thranduil wouldn't approve of his father's commands, being the reckless young ellon he was. But there comes a time in every man's life when decisions and choises has to be made for the future well-being and endurance of the kingdom.
"Thranduil! Your father wants to speak to you", Oropher's servant, Lumien, said. Thranduil was outside sword fighting with some of his friends. "Right now?", Thranduil asked. "Yes, it's urgent, and very important", Lumien replied. "Very well", Thranduil sighed. "I'll see you guys later", he said to his friends and went inside. His father had been very mysterious of late, coming and going, and having elves from other cities over. He never asked what was going on, because he thought it was none of his concern, but he began to wonder if he had been very wrong about that.
