Chapter 12

I immediately responded to his words. I leaned in and lightly pressed my lips to his, not wanting this soft kiss to go any further because I know if it does I won’t be able to stop. I usually have more self-control than this but when I’m with this boy my mind goes foggy and I don’t think. I just do.

I pulled away and looked at him. He tried to lean back to kiss my mouth but I brought my hand to his chest to stop him. “Maybe…we should work on the project…” I chuckled and he smiled and nodded, then ran a hand through his hair.

“Okay, so we did a lot today. Maybe we could finish tomorrow and the day after?” Haiden suggested. I quickly remembered I scheduled with Lewis to ‘catch up.’

“Can I take a rain check?” I said, running a hand through my hair.

“…Is it Lewis?” Haiden asked with a hurt expression on his face. I stayed silent. Then again this all happened just now, he already knew I was going to his house. At least he should’ve remembered.

“Right, sorry. I forgot you were going to ‘catch up.’” He said putting air quotes around catch up. Gosh he just gets so jealous so quickly.

“Haiden. Stop.”

His angry/hurt facial expression softened. “Just please don’t kiss him.” He looked into my eyes and my whole body felt like jell-o.

“I won’t.”

“Pinky promise?” He said, holding out his pinky.

I chuckled. “Pinky promise.” I said, locking pinkies with his.

“Oh my gosh! You’re pinky is so cute and tiny!” He said grabbing my pinky.

“It isn’t that small.” I said, pulling my pinky back.

“Uhh yeah it is!”

“Just because yours are abnormally large doesn’t make mine super small.”

“Mine definitely are NOT abnormally large.”

“Uhh yeah they are.” I said, attempting to make a deep voice imitating his but that was a complete fail.

“Well you know what large fingers mean.” He said winking at me. I playfully hit him on his shoulder.

“Gosh you’re gross.”

“But you like it.” He said, laughing.

“No I don’t.”

“But you like me…” He said, hopping over to my side of the bed.

“Don’t let that go to your head, it could change any second.” I joked.

“Nah, I’m too irresistible.” He smiled.

“I think I can resist…” That was a complete lie.

He brushed his lips against mine then kissed my shoulder. Gosh I love that. I leaned my head to give him more access but he just chuckled and pulled away. I looked at him in confusion and he gripped my chin and brushed his lips against mine again. Right when I tried to deepen the kiss he pulled away. “I’m thinking ice cream.” He hopped off of his bed and began putting on his sneakers. He’s such a tease!

“Ugh you’re so annoying.” I said putting on my shoes. He just chuckled. Does he think that was funny?!

“Hey if I don’t leave you wanting more, how do I know you’ll stay?”

“What happened to being ‘irresistible?’”

“I still am. I actually want ice cream though. This can be finished another time but ice cream can’t wait.”

“Nice to know you choose dessert over me.” I joked.

“Please baby you are the dessert.” He leaned over and gave me a peck.

We stood up and started walking to his car hand-in-hand with him. He opened the passenger door for me and then walked around to his side of the car.

“So, which ice-cream place?” I asked.

“Which one do you want to go to?”

“Cold stone.” I love cold stone. No other ice-cream place could ever compare.

“My fave.” He smiled.

“Me too.” I said, strapping in my seat belt. He did the same then pulled off.

Once we got to Cold Stone we walked up hand in hand and stood in line.

“What are you going to have?” He asked me.

“Cake batter ice cream with cookie dough. You?”

“I’ll probably have a vanilla ice cream with cookie dough.”

I nodded and we patiently waited for the cashier to call next. When she did we ordered.

“Alright, just wait over there.” She said more-so to Haiden than to me. She leaned over attempting to give him full view of her over-sized chest and pointed for us where to stand.

“Thanks.” Haiden said, oblivious to what she was doing.

She then winked and gave him a “f*ck me now I want to have your babies” look and I shot her a death glare which received a rolling-of-the-eyes and a huff.

Haiden and I walked over to the place she told us to stand and he started laughing.

“What’s so funny?” I asked raising an eyebrow.

“Your jealousy. It’s cute.” Is it that obvious?

“I’m not jealous.” I lied.

“Suuuuuure.” He laughed more and I just leaned against an empty table letting my eyes wander. They fell on the cashier talking to a blonde female. She then pointed in my direction and the blonde female turned around. It was Meghan. Does Haiden know she works here? She shot me a death glare and I returned it.

“Ummm, sir? Your ice cream is ready.” Haiden turned around and grabbed our ice creams and we sat at a table and began talking about unimportant nothingness but somehow I found myself devoured in the conversation.

Haiden finished his ice cream before me and about five minutes after him, I finished mine. “You ready to go?” He asked.

“Yeah, I just have to use the bathroom first.” I said, getting up.

I used the bathroom and right when I looked up from the sink while I was washing my hands, Meghan came out of a stall.

“What happened to, ‘oh I’m not going after Haiden?’” She asked, starting to wash her hands.

“If you really had him on lockdown he wouldn’t be that easy to get. Besides, he said you guys weren’t even anything.” I said, grabbing a paper towel.

“It didn’t seem like anything when he came over my house last night and need I say what happened next?” She gave me an evil smirk.

What? She has to be lying. Haiden said he didn’t remember the last time he spoke to her, but then again he didn’t seem so confident in that answer. Would he lie? “You’re lying.” I narrowed my eyes at her while folding my arms across my chest.

“I don’t lie. How about you ask him?” I actually don’t think she’s lying. Ugh! How could Haiden do that and just lie to me about it?! He could’ve just told me. I’m not saying I wouldn’t be angry or upset but that’s better than lying!

I just walked out of the bathroom. I can’t believe him. I walked up to the table and the only thing I said was, “ready.”

I quickly walked to his car and leaned against the passenger door waiting for him to unlock the doors.

“Someone’s in a hurry to get back to my place.” He said, laughing and clicking the button to unlock the door. I climbed in.

“Actually I’m just going to go home.” I said angrily, putting on my seatbelt.

“Is everything okay?” He asked, reaching over to my side grabbing my hand. I quickly pulled it away.

“Yeah, I’m fine.”

He pulled up and I hurriedly started to get out of the car and begin to walk across my grass to my front porch.

“Don’t you still need your book bag?” He chuckled, tossing me his house key. I caught it and swiftly walked to his front door and unlocked it. I went to his room, grabbed my book bag, then ran back downstairs just as he was coming in. Either he is really slow or I was quicker than I thought.

I handed him back his key.

“Are you sure there’s nothing wrong?” He asked while I walked to the front door.

“Yes I’m sure. Bye.” I quickly walked of his house and to mine.

I walked to my locker and sadly Haiden was at his. I began unlocking it and I felt arms wrap around my face. I turned around thinking it was Haiden but relief shot through my body when I saw that it was Lewis. “Hey gorgeous, we still on for after school?”

“You bet.” I said, smiling.

“My mom is going to be out tonight so it’s just going to be you and me.”

“Perfect.” I said making my smile bigger.

“Alright well I have to get to my locker. I’ll see you after school. Later Haiden.”

Haiden just gave him a fake smile and Lewis kissed me on the cheek then left.

I turned back around to my locker opening it while humming happily and I heard Haiden give a fake chuckle. “You’ve got to be kidding me. This is a joke you’re playing, right? Or is it payback because of the girl at cold stone yesterday? Trust me Nicole, I am NOT into her at all.”

I just ignored him and continued humming while getting my books from my locker.

“Nicole.” He said staring at me. “Nicole!”

“Hmmm?” I said, still putting a fake-happy smile on my face.

“What’s wrong Nicole? Why are you mad at me?”

I just laughed and said, “Oh I’m not mad.” Then went to my homeroom. Hopefully that left him confused as hell because I’m so pissed off at him.

I told Hazelle everything that happened not leaving out one important detail.

“Nicole you need to tell him that you know.”

“No, he needs to figure it out.” I shrugged.

“Boys are slow, he won’t figure it out.”

“And whose problem is that? Not mine.”

“Nicole, stop. This is your problem. Clearly you like him and you need to talk to him about this. Using Lewis to get to him is not the brightest idea but I’m not going to force you to do anything, just know that if you use Lewis now you’ll just have to break his heart in the end.” She’s right but honestly I could care less. I’m just so pissed at Haiden.

After school I went to Lewis’ house and we were just talking about what’s new and we actually were catching up. Nothing really changed about him but I feel like something changed about me. I just don’t see him the way I used to. He seems more of the friend-type.

“So lets get to that other catching up that we were talking about.” Lewis said, leaning in. No doubt he’s drop dead gorgeous, I just can’t find myself enjoying his presence more than in a friendly manner.

Lewis continued to lean in and I decided to lean in too. To hell with what Haiden said. I’m kissing him.

I'll try to get chp 13 done quickly but idk when that will happen. Hope you enjoyed! xx. comment & votee!
