I know I've mentioned Mali-Koa earlier.
Regardless, she was an essential part of our relationship.
"Gonna head to practice, see you soon babe," You tell me, kissing my forehead sweetly.
I smile to myself at the gesture. "Bye Cal."
You grab your gear, and head out the door. I sigh, and collapse back onto your bed.
Your sister enters, grumbling about a speaker or something.
"Got it!" She soon exclaims, hand reaching for the door knob.
"Mali, can I ask you a quick question?" I ask, nervous.
She whips around, dark eyebrows furrowed. "Okay. What's wrong?"
I sit up, criss crossing my long legs. "Do...what do you think Calum would do if I told him that..."
"What? Told him what? That you cheat-"
"Mali! No, no I didn't cheat on him! Never, I'd never do that."
She relaxes. "Thank god, that would break him."
"What do you think he'd do if I told him I love him?"
Mali looks at me, like she's about to laugh, but she just grins. "That's it?"
"What do you mean? This is the first time I've ever told someone I loved them!"
"Okay, okay, sorry for not taking it seriously."
"Please help me, I don't want him to think things are moving to fast," I say, frantic now.
"Luke, calm down. Believe me, Calum will be ecstatic.
"Really?"
"Oh yeah, absolutely. You're all he talks about, always rambling on about "oh my god, he's got the cutest giggle, and this nose scrunch that kills me" or "when I kissed all the way down his spine he shuddered" or something like that."
My heart flutters with joy. "I love him."
"Well, that was obvious. God, it sounds like he takes notes on you, the way he speaks about all your little ticks."
"All my little things," I whisper, more to myself than your sister.
"What?"
"Nothing. I'm going to tell Calum I love him."
"Well, you already know this, but he loves you too."
"Thanks for the help, Mali."
"Anytime, lil bro-in-law."
Before I could protest the nickname, she left.
I'm still not Mali's brother-in-law.
Maybe one day, I hope. If you'll have me, at least.
If you want me, I'll be yours in a heartbeat.
