Four months later, and I am getting ready to attend this year's VMAs.
With Nelly.
Well, Cornell...
Long story short, he simply refused to leave me alone.
Even though I have thrown away his number and never called him, he still somehow managed to get mine.
Well, not really that much of a mystery there. Tessa gave it to him. She just felt like she was looking out for me.
Cornell seemed like a nice guy to her, and a huge upgrade from Marshall, whom Tessa felt it was about time I have gotten over.
So, she ended-up letting Cornell have my number.
And he kept calling.
Until, like he so eloquently put it, he managed to wear me down.
I had agreed to go on a date with him, just so he would leave me be.
I figured that I would be such a bitch to him on that date, that he won't even want to go out with me ever again.
Only...
He had managed to prove himself such a gentleman on that first date, that I no longer wanted to get away from him?
I mean, he is nice.
Cornell is so nice. And sweet.
He treats me so well, and my relationship with him is like an opposite of what I've had with Marshall.
I never have to doubt myself. I never have to feel insecure. I never have to doubt whether he cares about me or now.
Cause I know that he does.
Not to mention, that unlike Marshall, Cornell doesn't have no stupid ass ex-wife he is still madly in love with that I have to complete with.
Cornell is all mine.
Now, of course, if I am being totally honest with myself, I do miss certain things about mine and Marshall's relationship too.
Fuck my life, but I do miss the drama. I miss the passion. I miss the makeup sex.
In a really weird way, I even miss Marshall's possessive ways.
It really showed me he cared, I guess.
I miss the quiet and unexpectedly cute moments that we used to have together too. Like when we would cuddle in bed in front of the TV, and he would tell me I was his girl.
I miss falling asleep next to him.
And I miss the excitement too.
Me and Cornell don't exactly have that.
We do have the stability though.
Cornell is just... safe.
I feel super comfortable with him, and that's exactly what I needed to be honest.
So yeah, VMAs tonight, Nelly's #1 is nominated for best male video.
Coincidentally, he is up against Eminem's Without Me.
I guess I should be glad that it's Without Me, and not Superman.
I fucking hate that song!!
Marshall, petty as he is, really went in on me in that one.

He's got no reason to either, it's not like he's been a monk since we broke up.
He's been messing around with literally any and everybody. I've seen him in all those tabloids! He's been linked to both of his co-stars from 8 Mile movie, Kim Basinger and Brittany Murphy, the singer Mariah Carey, that porn star chick he had in that Superman music video, oh, and surprise, surprise!! Fucking Dina Rae. The way the two of them grinded on each other while performing that stupid song during his Anger Management tour, it was pretty obvious to me that he was fucking her again.
And those were just to name a few.
Marshall really turned into a whole male hoe.
And yet, he still had the nerve to slander me to the press and call me a slut for being with Cornell.
Fucking hypocrite, like I always say!!
Anyway...
Cornell and I take pictures at the red carpet together.
He gets asked some questions.
Mostly the usual. Some reporters ask him about the piece of plaster on his face, and he explains to them that it's got to do with his brother that is currently locked up.
They ask me questions too.
Mostly dumb shit.
And infuriatingly enough, most of it has to do with Marshall. They ask me how I feel about him name dropping me in Superman, is it true that I was in a car with him that night he pistol whipped a bouncer that he caught kissing Kim outside of a nightclub, and I am just so fed up with all of that.
Honestly tired of them asking me questions about him. Wish they would ask me about my damn modeling career or something. I mean, I've been in so many campaigns by now, and so many music videos.
Anyway, Cornell and I finally make our way inside.
We get seated, and I quickly realize that Marshall and his entourage are not gonna be seated too far from us neither.
Like, they haven't arrived yet, but I see where they marked their seats.
Moby won't be sitting too far from Marshall either, apparently, and I've heard that Marshall has got some type of a dumb beef going on with him too.
So what is MTV thinking?!
They must really love to fuck with Marshall at this point, and I honestly hate that, even though I shouldn't even care.
But I guess, deep down, I do.
When Marshall finally walks in, Proof is with him as always.
And there's immediately a commotion.
Apparently, somebody thought it would be a great idea to approach Marshall with some dumb puppet dog doll?
And Marshall is apparently not in a mood to play that at all.
I see him start snapping at people.
Then he turns and locks gazes with me, our eyes meeting.
"Oh shit, look, Doody," Marshall elbows Proof as he points at Nelly and me. "I guess it's totally cool to bring video hoochies as a plus one on this show. If I knew that, I would've brought all them hoes from Superman music video with me," he smirks.
I frown at him as he winks at me.
God, he's so fucking childish!!
This is also the first time in months that I've actually laid eyes on him in person and not just seeing him on TV, and I can't help a slight feeling of longing deep inside of me that I immediately suppress, because I just can't go there. Never again in my life!!
Nelly stirs up angrily besides me, giving Marshall a dirty look, but I put my hand down on his shoulder and he settles down.
Marshall and Proof get seated.
The awards show starts...
When it's time to present the award for the best male video, Christina Aguilera was up on stage.
She announced the nominees, then reads the card.
Marshall wins, and she doesn't even try to hide her disdain at that.
I have a suspicion that the two of them had slept together before. Way too much animosity there.
Marshall gets onstage, and Christina shades him once again.
Yep, I frown to myself, they definitely slept together before.
Damn.
Isn't there any girl this motherfucker hasn't fucked before?!
I start to get irrationally angry, and I have to stop myself.
What I really need to be doing right now, is comfort my own boyfriend, cause he lost.
And he deserved to win too. Cornell's song was slamming!!
Later on, Marhsall gets onstage and performs Without Me with Proof as his usual hype man.
And I can't even front, the two of them make a great team, and Marshall looks hot onstage.
But that's just what he does, can't take that one thing from the man, he's a great performer.
"You wanna go stop by the after party?" Cornell asks me later, after it is all over.
I really don't.
I suspect that Marshall might be there, and I really don't want chancing running into him in there.
But at the same time, I can't let him control me like this, so I say:
"Okay, let's do it."
I mean, what can possibly go wrong, right?!
