"Are you sure you don't want a story?" Kate asked Christopher,
Eddie had a date with Ana and promised his son he'd be home in time for a story, for whatever reason he was late and Christopher was adamant on getting a story from only Eddie.
"Dad promised" Christopher protested
"Okay, you in insist" Kate sighed, "you have got another 10 minutes but if you not you'll have to settle for me and Buck. Deal" Kate held out her hand
"Deal!" Christopher shook it
Kate stood up from his bed and walked out of his room, that boy ran a hard bargain.
"No story?" Buck asked
Kate shook her head "no story, but we made a deal. If Eddie isn't home in ten minutes than it's a story"
"Kid can bargain" Buck joked
Kate chuckled, "don't I know it. Is she okay?"
"Wide awake" Buck said, "she doesn't seem to want to sleep tonight. Do you Josie?" He rocked her, hoping she'd soon give in
"We have got two protesting kids, great!"
Buck pulled Kate towards him, planting a kiss on her lips
"Ahh" Josie screeched, lately she had been babbling a lot more. Sometimes it was like she was trying to have a conversation
"What!" Kate exclaimed, "you need to sleep little lady " she played with Josie's hand
"Yes you do" Buck wiggled her legs
Josie giggled, seemingly still awake as ever.
Eddie walked in.
Kate extended her wrist and glanced at her watch "Edmundo Diaz, you are late"
"There was construction on Sunset. Had to take a detour." He replied, sliding his coat off and dropping it over the couch "Christopher already in bed?"
"Oh, yeah." Buck nodded
"You two are miracle workers"
"No, just an excellent negotiator. See, he was willing to get ready for bed and get in the bed. We were not allowed to turn the lights off or tell him a story." Buck explained
"Can't even get a 5month old to sleep" Kate added, pointing to the wide eyed baby
Eddie turned to walk to Christopher's room, Kate grabbed his shoulder and pulled him back "ah ah Edmundo, how was the date?" She asked
His lips tugged into a warm smile, he exhale happily "It was nice. She taught me math"
Bucks brows furrowed, he mumbled a question
"Kinky" Kate remarked, a chuckle was heard from Eddie as he turned into Christopher's room
Buck shook his head, Kate grabbed their things and walked out to the car; she buckled Josie into her car seat and got in to the passenger seat "maybe this will knock her out" she hoped

Kate leaned against the red fire truck, she glanced over to Taylor Kelly. A touch of jealousy igniting inside of her
A man landed himself on the roof of the house and was threatening to jump, he was causing a scene which involved police firefighters and the news.. the news that was hosted by Taylor Kelly
Kate wasn't sure why she felt worried, she didn't feel this worried when she met Abby and she was more than a fling. Kate trusted Buck entirely but a part of her didn't trust Taylor
"Do I detect some Jealousy?" Eddie asked teasingly
"No" Kate snorted, "why would I be jealous I'm engaged to Buck, we have a kid. She was a bathroom fling"
"Whatever you say"
1 hour In
"Coffee" Buck handed Kate a cup
"My savior" Kate sighed, taking a gulp of the hot liquid
"You okay?" Buck asked, sounding concerned
"I'm just tired" she replied, "I have cramps."
"How about tonight we order takeout, get your favorite ice cream and watch a rom com"
Kate smiled happily "you'd really watch a rom com,"
"If it makes you feel better. Always"
"I love you" she hummed,
"You know.. you don't have to be jealous" he added in quickly
Kate sighed, "Eddie!"
2 hours in
"I'm just worried something could go wrong, what happened to you was-.."
"Terrifying" Kate nodded, "I understand, so many things can go wrong from the second labour starts and as first responders we are kinda wired to think worse case."
"I just wish Maddie would see that" he sighed
"Chim, you have to understand. Giving birth is terrifying but throwing a global pandemic into the mix and the possibility of doing it alone.. it can make someone explore options that never factored before"

"Pizza!" Eddie called out, holding two hot boxes

Kate ran back to the truck, thankfully the grumpy old man was kind enough to let her pee. When she got back she seem Taylor with Buck
Kate stood beside him, she couldn't help but link her arm around his; almost as If she was claiming him
"Buck was just talking about you. You two have come a long way since the bar" Taylor started a conversation
Kate forced a smile "oh yeah, Kinda quickly but we got there " she joked
"I'm impressed, the Buck I knew didn't seem the settle down type"
"Right person I guess" Kate shrugged,
"I better get back to work, it was nice seeing you again" Taylor said before walking back to her news van
Kate gave a smile, watching as the red head walked away
"Wow" Buck laughed "that was horrible"
"What?" Kate asked, her brows furrowed
"Why are you so jealous"
Kate gasped, "I am not"
"Oh please, it was practically rolling of you"
"Whatever" she rolled her eyes
Buck pulled Kate behind the ambulance, he pushed her against the doors and kissed her harshly
Kate was shocked for a few seconds before she melted into the kiss, Buck moved his lips to her ear.
"I'm yours Kate. Forever" he whispered
Kate buried her head into his neck "if that man doesn't jump soon, I'll push him"

"Jump. Jump. Jump" the team chanted quickly, watching as the man paced back and forth
6 hours in
Six long hours of waiting and the 118 were about to lose their minds. Right now he was crying about his parents, ranting about their mistreatment and favoritism.
"If he doesn't jump soon I will" Kate mumbled, her head resting against bucks arm
"I'd appreciate it if you didn't, I'd kinda miss you"
"Just Kinda?" Kate asked, staring up at him
"Maybe a little more"
The sound of smashing windows and a car alarm took their attention, they looked over to the house and seen the old man pushed had pushed the crazy one off the roof
"Finally" Kate pulled up her mask.

"Look what mommas got" Kate smiled, holding a jar of mushed pees. Josie was slowly being introduced to mushed foods.
"Are you sure it's safe?" Buck worried.
"Positive sweetie" Kate nodded, "here, take this" she handed the spoon to Kate.
"Make it fun"
Buck nodded, she smiled at his daughter "what's this huh? You ready, open wide"
Josies little mouth opened as the spoon entered, seconds later the pees were spat back on bucks shirt.
Kate smiled a little, biting back a laugh "I guess that's a no to mushy pees"
Buck chuckled, wiping his shirt. He handed the other jar to Kate.
"Okay, how about sweet potatoes" Kate took a spoonful, she eased it into Josies mouth, thankfully it wasn't retaliated this time.
"Mm, it's yummy huh" Kate cooed, feeding her some more.
There was a low knock on the door, Kate handed the food to buck.
She walked over and opened it "Christopher!" Kate exclaimed, seeing then young boy stood at her door, she pulled the boy in
"Buck call Eddie"
"What are you doing here?" She asked,
"I called an Uber" he said quietly
"Alright sit down" Kate told him, Christopher listened and sat on the couch petting milo happily
"Eddie's gonna be here in 10, he told him about Ana. Didn't react too well" he explained, continuing to feed Josie.
"Come over here" Kate said, pulling a chair out, Christopher sat down.
"I heard about you blowing up at your dad." Buck mentioned
"I don't want to talk about it."
"Well, you're here, so we gotta talk about something." Kate said to him, rather sternly. It appeared who was the good cop and who was the bad one
"Come on, look. You were there for me when I needed to talk so now I want to be here for you. It's what friends do." Buck took a softer approach
"Dad's dating." Christopher sighed
"Yeah, that's gotta be weird for you, huh? And maybe it feels like he's forgetting your mom, but Chris, I promise you...
"I wish I could forget." Christopher interrupted Buck, bringing a dull silence
Kates face dropped into a small frown "what do you mean?" She asked
"People go away. Not just Mom. Abuelita, Carla, my friends. They leave and then I miss them. I don't want to miss anyone else." He admitted
Buck paused for a second, gathering the right words "Yeah, um... yeah, people go away... and it's sad and it hurts. But, you know, not everyone goes away forever. Sometimes they come back, and as much as we miss them, that's how happy we are to see them again." He explained
"You know I miss my family a lot" Kate said, "but I see them everyday on my laptop and when they can they visit, just because we don't see them everyday doesn't mean I'll never see them again"
"Yeah, Your grandma, your friends, Carla. You're gonna see them all again." Buck nodded
"Do you promise?"
"We do. And until that happens, you still got us Cause We aren't going anywhere." He reassured
Eddie got there quicker than expected, after profusely apologizing he took Christopher home. Both Buck and Kate suggested they take it easy explaining why
"You think she'll ever run away?" Buck asked, bouncing Josie on his lap
"Probably" Kate replied honestly, "but we know she's always got someone to run to... and a family full of firefighters and 9-1-1 dispatchers who can find her in an hour"
Buck chuckled "yeah I guess"
"Sometimes I forget how hard the world can be for a kid. He's lost so much for someone his age. I don't ever want that for her"
"What's on your mind?" Buck asked, sensing something was up
"Promise you'll never die. Promise neither of us ever will?" She asked, holding his hand " I want her to have both of us growing up; losing a parent is the worse pain imaginable"
"She'll never lose either of us" Buck promised,
