Venus and Tom had finished Potions and today was their first encounter of Slughorn since the summer. He was hosting a little Slug Club meeting. And obviously Venus was exited. She still hadn't forgot about what Tom and her spoke about the other day in the library.
'I feel like we will speak to Slughorn after the meeting' Tom paced the Room of Requirement
'Why after? Can't it be a different day?' She asks
'Venus, darling. I've waited so long, and this is the time...I know it' he looked sternly at her
'I guess so. But just don't blow our cover, just say it's all hypothetical, alright? So he doesn't get suspicious' Venus picked up a book
'I will. But, this will be our ticket, our ticket to success' he sat down next to her
'Our?' She raised her eyebrows
'Yes...ours. Your apart of this, darling. And you cannot get out of it' he smirked
'And what if I get out of it?' She set the book aside
'Then I will...I will make you regret it' he tensed
'And how?' She challenges
'Let's say....death?' He looked around
She was horrified
'Tom Marvolo Riddle! Are you considering it?' She breathed out
'Depends, are you going to be a traitor?' He asks
They both fell into a silence, her mind was racing
'I'm the only reason your plans have been successful, without me...your nothing but Tom Riddle' she smirks
'I agree, by the way we really should be getting to the meeting' he grabbed her hand and lead her out. They walked down the halls to his little office. He opened the door, they were still in their robes
'Ah! I was hoping when you two would arrive! Come, sit!' He smiled
Venus took her seat to the right of Tom. They all had teacups full of tea, and a biscuit. With all this war with Grindelwald has set food back a bit.
'So, how are you finding your studies?' He asked a random boy
'Quite fine, thank you sir' the curly boy smiled charmingly
'And you, Tom. How are you holding up?' Slughorn laughs slightly
'Alright, I have everything I need. Even if it is to become a successful sorcerer, with Venus here by my side' he smirks
'And what does Venus have to do with your plans?' Slughorn asks
'Well, we make a good team, sir. She and I work like we are the same people, practically' Tom sipped his tea
'Oh and Venus, you are the first girl to ever make it into the Slug Club! Everyone give her a warm welcome. You will fit right in.' Horace welcomed Venus.
Everyone just stared at Venus, like she was a mudblood. She blushed with embrassment
'Sir, is it true Professor Merrythought is retiring?' Venus asked
'Venus , I couldn't tell you if I knew could I' Slughorn replied laughing
After a while of talking it was getting late. Venus saw Tom pull some pineapple cubes out of his pocket
'Here sir! I got you something' he smiled
'Oh wow! Pineapple!' Slughorn took the pineapple from him
'It's your favourite' Tom explains as Venus looked at him, She felt his hand rest on her thigh. Rubbing it, oh Merlin
'Your quite right Tom it is my favourite' Slughorn laughed as all the other boys stared at Slughorn, who dropped a pineapple cube in his mouth.
'But how did you know..?' his face turned into suspicion, leaning forward in his chair looking deadly at Tom
'Intuition' Tom smirked as he played it off
'Oh good gracious! Is that the time already, off you go or Professor Dippet will have us all in detention' He ushered everyone out. But her and Tom stayed behind. Waiting for everyone to leave, so it was them and Slughorn. Alone.
Slughorn clinked his snake hourglass, it was pretty,whilst looking at Tom and Venus who was both situated opposite the small room
'Look sharp Tom and Venus, don't be caught out of bed after hours!' Slughorn warned
They both stayed in their usual position
'Something on your mind Venus, Tom?' Slughorn raised one eyebrow
'Yes sir, We both couldn't think of anyone else to go to, the other professors , well they're not like you, they might...misunderstand' Tom paced around the room soon stopping opposite Slughorn, Venus followed his steps, her hands behind her back.
'Go on, you two ' Slughorn instructed holding a glass in his hand
'Me and Venus was in the library the other night, in the restricted section and we read something rather odd about a bit of rare magic. Venus and I thought perhaps it could illuminate us, it's called as I understand...a Horcrux' Tom started
Slughorn's face then hardens when hearing this. Venus gulped.
'I beg your pardon?' Slughorn questions looking from Tom to Venus in shock.
'A Horcrux....we both came across the term while we were reading. We didn't fully understand it.' Venus says looking at Tom as they stepped closer to Slughorn
'I don't know what your reading, Venus and Tom, but this is very dark stuff, very dark indeed' Slughorn replies darkly
'Which is, why Tom and I came to you' Venus didn't break eye contact with Slughorn. Who was on edge.
'A Horcrux is an object which a person has concealed part of their soul.' Slughorn exclaims lowly
The duo took multiple steps closer now standing directly across to him, the blazing green fire dancing in the background
'But we don't understand how does that work?' Tom looks expectantly at Slughorn. Side eyeing Venus
'One splits one soul and hides it in an object, I know so you are protected and your body destroyed' Slughorn goes on looking at the two
'Protect it?' They both questioned simultaneously looking eager to find out more
'Part of your soul is hidden in lives on, in other words you cannot die.' Slughorn looks conflicted
Venus and Tom turned to look at the flickering fire staring intently into it
'How does one splits his soul?' Venus questions
Slughorn follows his eyes on the two. Looking rather scared.
'I think you already know the answer to that, you two' Slughorn replies lowly
'Murder' Both Venus and Tom said at the same time looking at eachother.
'Yes, killing rips the soul apart and it's a violation against our nature' Slughorn declares
Venus and him were now looking at the ring that was placed on Venus's finger. The family heirloom.
'Can you only split the soul..once, or for instance...seven?' Tom looks at the ring not tearing his eyes from it. Even Venus was shocked when she heard that. Seven?!
'Seven?! Merlins beard,Tom. Bad enough to consider killing one person, to rip the soul into seven pieces, this is all hypothetical isn't it Tom, Venus? Or academic.' Slughorn face was full of shock
Venus and Tom turned their bodies to eye Slughorn. Before smirking mysteriously
'Of course, sir' Venus interjects smiling innocently
Slughorn dismisses them, but he was very very cautious if the two from then on....
Tom and Venus both walked down the darkened halls of Hogwarts.
'See Tom! I told you exactly what Slughorn has told us! Now he's suspicious of us ' Venus crossed her arms
'Don't worry darling, nobody will suspect a thing' Tom smirked kissing her before going to the Slytherin common room
She went to the Ravenclaw common room and to her bed. She looked at the bed Mrytle once slept in, she hadn't dared go into the girls bathroom after her death in fear of her wrath. Looking at her bed that hasn't been touched brought tears to her eyes.
'Oh Mrytle....what have I done?' Venus sobbed into the pillow
