The One When Emily Misses Stefan

The Radkova witch had been building up her magic for over three weeks now. Emily was slowly but surely getting stronger and more powerful the more that she practiced her magic. Emily found herself really enjoying doing different spells and studying about the Protectors of the Innocence -- with the help of Bonnie and Deaton. It didn't feel like a burden to her anymore like Emily originally had felt about her powers.

However, now, the Radkova witch was in a slump. After gaining control of her powers and feeling in content as a witch, Emily found herself thinking and missing Stefan horribly. Emily could feel herself slipping back into that depressive state as she grew more and more worried for her boyfriend.

The Radkova witch honestly couldn't count how many times in the last week that she had gotten into an argument with Damon about going out and finding Stefan. It always resulted in Damon locking her in the bedroom or them yelling at each other.

Emily knew Damon was right, though, when they argued about going to find Stefan. It was always the same thing. Damon would tell her that it would be too dangerous and Klaus would kill her on the spot but that didn't mean that Emily wanted to just give up and forget about Stefan.

Today, Emily had three different arguments with Damon over the Stefan and Klaus situation before one in the afternoon. The Radkova witch grew frustrated with the eldest Salvatore after the last yelling match, so Emily hid herself in the comfort of Stefan's bed.

The Radkova witch released a heavy sigh as she stared outside of the balcony window to where the sun was widely shining while she cuddled with Stefan's pillow. "Stupid sun," Emily mumbled as she felt like the perfect weather was mocking her and her down mood.

Emily rolled her green eyes when she suddenly heard a knock on the bedroom door. "I haven't escaped!" The Radkova witch shouted as she figured it was Damon checking on her after their argument about going to search for Stefan. The brunette girl wasn't stupid enough to try to climb down the balcony when she was on the second floor of the Salvatore boarding house.

The Radkova witch released a loud groan when the knocking continued. Emily sluggishly pushed herself out of her boyfriend's comfortable and comforting bed before she opened the door with a harsh glare. However, when Emily saw that it wasn't the older Salvatore but Bonnie, the Radkova witch relaxed her hard face and held the door open for Bonnie to enter.

After the Bennett witch had entered Stefan's bedroom, Emily quickly slammed the door close before she practically tossed herself back into her boyfriend's bed. "What's up? What are you doing here?" The Radkova witch mumbled the question with the side of her face pressed into Stefan's soft pillow. Emily knew that she didn't have any witchy meetings with either Bonnie or Deaton, so she didn't know why the Bennett witch would be stopping by.

Bonnie shot the young witch a soft smile before she took a seat across from Emily on the large king sized bed. "I know you've been struggling with the whole Stefan situation," the Bennett witch mentioned before she jokingly stated, "and you're probably getting tired of arguing with Damon over it."

The Radkova witch released a loud scoff as she briefly interrupted Bonnie. "That would be an understatement," Emily muttered as she pushed herself up to lean against her boyfriend's headboard and looked across at the Bennett witch. "I'm days away from figuring out a spell to permanently shutting his mouth for good," Emily mumbled as she was almost at her breaking point of listening to Damon and fighting with him over finding the younger Salvatore.

Bonnie couldn't help but release a small, amused chuckle at the young witch's annoyance for Damon. It was very understandable but it would probably cause more problems than they needed right now if Emily were to do that. "Well, I come bearing some good news," the Bennett witch told Emily as she pulled out the Radkova grimoire, that she had borrowed this morning, from her brown leather messenger bag.

Bonnie opened up the Radkova grimoire to the page that she had saved with a plain piece of paper before she placed the book of magic down on the middle of the bed, so Emily could see. "I think this will put your mind at ease about Stefan," the Bennett witch told Emily as she pointed towards a section in the grimoire. "This is a spell to check on someone's wellbeing," Bonnie explained the spell to the young witch.

"Wait... Are you serious?" Emily gasped as her green eyes quickly looked down to the Radkova grimoire and hurriedly read over the spell. If Emily could actually do this, she would feel at least in content if she knew how Stefan was doing.

"Now, you won't be able to see him," Bonnie warned the excited witch as she placed her palm on top of the spell to gain Emily's full attention before she explained, "but you'll be able to feel that Stefan's alive along with how he's feeling at the moment."

The Radkova witch nodded her head in understanding as she grew serious about the spell. Although, Emily was excited about checking up on Stefan, she also knew that she needed to take it seriously or she could injure herself or Bonnie in the process. "Do we need anything or do anything special for the spell?" Emily asked the Bennett witch since Bonnie was the one who found the spell and read into it already.

"We need something personal that belongs to or has to do with Stefan," the Bennett witch informed Emily as she read over the spell once more, "it needs to be something that connects you two together, so the link will be easier to build between the spell and his body."

The Radkova witch immediately stood up from her boyfriend's bed as she knew exactly what they needed for the spell. Emily quickly jogged across to her bedroom at the Salvatore boarding house before she grabbed the picture frame that sat on the small table by her bed.

Emily looked down at the picture frame with a soft smile. It was a picture of her and Stefan dancing at the Lockwood mansion that a photographer Ms. Lockwood hired took of them. It wasn't exactly a happy occasion since it was the night of the Masquerade Ball when Katherine came looking for the moonstone along with the fact that she and Elena got kidnapped later that night by Rose and Trevor but it was a special one for Emily towards the beginning of that night.

Emily and Stefan ended up on dancing early in the night before everything in their lives started going downhill within the supernatural world. It was a simple dance but it was when Emily realized that she didn't care or want a safe life with some human boy or girl. It made Emily realize that she would rather be in danger all the time with Stefan than not at all. It was the night that Emily found herself really falling for Stefan -- despite the fact that he was dating her sister at the time.

"Everything's going to be okay," Emily softly whispered while she rubbed her point finger across her boyfriend's face in the photograph as if he could hear her. "I'll bring you back," the Radkova witch swore as she promised herself that she wouldn't lose Stefan forever to the hybrid before she turned around and headed back to her boyfriend's bedroom with a new feel of determination.

The Bennett witch quickly looked up from her position on the hardwood floor as she was setting up a circle of candles for the spell before she noticed Emily coming into the room. "Did you find what we need?" Bonnie questioned as she placed the last candle in the circle formation.

Emily silently nodded her head as she waved the framed photograph in her left hand as to show the Bennett witch what she had for the spell. "What's next?" The Radkova witch inquired as she quickly crossed Stefan's bedroom and stood a few steps away from the circle of candles. Emily felt incredibly anxious about this whole spell as she wanted to know how Stefan was doing as soon as possible.

"Firstly, you'll need to sit down in the middle of the candles," the Bennett witch instructed after she stood up from the hardwood floors and moved to the side for the young witch to enter. Bonnie waited until Emily had sat down in the middle before she explained the spell, "what you have to do next is to bring up the flames." The Bennett witch waited for Emily to nod her head to show that she was listening before Bonnie told the young witch, "you'll have to keep contact with the photo at all times while you chant the spell until you feel the connection between the two of you."

The Radkova witch furrowed her brows as she inquired, "how will I know if I have a connection?"

"You'll know," Bonnie assured the Radkova witch with a soft smile. "It will be like a barrier or a door in your mind that will open up and connect," the Bennett witch explained before she finished with a snap of her fingers.

Emily bit down on her bottom lip as she stared across at her best friend before the young witch finally nodded her head in agreement. "Alright, let's do this," Emily mumbled before she took a deep breath to calm her body and mind. The Radkova witch stared across at the white and tall candles across from her before she whispered, "phasmatos incendia."

"Good, you're doing good," the Bennett witch complimented Emily after the circle of candles became a ring of fire. "Now, you just need to say the spell until you feel the connection link up between your two minds," Once Emily nodded her head to let Bonnie know she was listening, the Bennett witch looked down at the Radkova grimoire and read the spell, "passuum passuum seorsum. Nostra nexu est fortior corde. Aperi animo, vide quid suus 'intus." [Miles and miles apart. Our connection is stronger at heart. Open your mind, let me see what's inside.]

Emily furrowed her brows as she listened to the long spell. The Radkova witch didn't exactly know Latin that well -- other than from practicing different spells recently, so Emily wasn't exactly confident in her pronunciation. "Passuum passuum seorsum. Nostra nexu est fortior corde." Emily slowly uttered the spell as she got used to the feeling of it coming from her mouth before she added, "aperi animo, vide quid suus 'intus."

"Perfect. Just like that," the Bennett witch instantly complimented the young witch with a small smile as she nodded her head to let Emily know that she was doing the spell correctly. "You got it," Bonnie assured the Radkova witch before she told and reminded Emily, "just say it all together while you touch the picture and you should feel the connection."

"Okay," Emily quietly mumbled as she slowly nodded her head. The Radkova witch took a deep breath as she prepared herself for the spell before she shakily placed her palm across the photo of herself and Stefan. "Passuum passuum seorsum. Nostra nexu est fortior corde. Aperi animo, vide quid suus 'intus," Emily slowly uttered the incantation.

The Radkova witch soon noticed the way the candles' flames brightened and flickered, so Emily said the spell once more, "passuum passuum seorsum. Nostra nexu est fortior corde. Aperi animo, vide quid suus 'intus." Emily immediately closed her green eyes and released a breathless gasp from her mouth when she felt something enter through the back of her mind. Emily didn't know what she was supposed to do but she felt like she needed to focus on that part of her mind, so Emily listened to the loud wind that definitely didn't come from Stefan's bedroom but her mind.

The Radkova witch could almost feel the wind in her brunette hair as she focused onto that small entry in her mind before it all just suddenly stopped. Emily furrowed her brows in confusion at the abrupt change before the brunette girl's body was overcome by a warmness. It wasn't just any warmness, it was the feeling that Emily always felt when she was wrapped in Stefan's arms or when he would tell her that he loves her.

A soft smile slowly rose onto Emily's face as she realized that what she was feeling right now was Stefan. The Radkova witch honestly felt so safe and at home as if the younger Salvatore was right in front of her. This warm feeling, it's worth all of the sadness that I had been experiencing lately, Emily silently told herself as she felt like her boyfriend was holding and comforting her at the moment.

After a few minutes of complete calmness and comfort had spread through Emily's body, she suddenly remembered that Bonnie had mentioned that she would be able to feel his emotions as well. The Radkova witch took a deep breath before she focused and pushed harder through the door in Stefan's mind as she tried to get some sort of feel of how Stefan was doing.

There was some resistance for a minute or two before Emily suddenly felt a heaviness on her chest. The Radkova witch frowned as her happiness was soon taken over by a feeling of absolute guilt. It was so strong that Emily thought it was her own feeling of guilt over something that she did. Emily could feel tears falling down her warm cheeks but the Radkova witch ignored them as she continued to push forward through Stefan's emotions.

The next feeling Emily got was hunger. It wasn't the type of hunger, where you skipped breakfast because you were running late for school or if you haven't eaten in a few hours. It was the bad king of hunger. It was a blood thirsty kind of hunger that Emily had never felt in her entire life. The Radkova witch couldn't help but violently cough when she felt an itch in her throat like she had just swallowed razorblades or barbwire.

Emily didn't like this feeling at all, so she pressed forward through the Salvatore vampire's emotions as best as she could. The Radkova witch released a heavy sigh of relief once the pain in her throat had finally went away along with the hunger. Emily took a deep breath to get control over her body and calm down before she pushed forward through her boyfriend's mind.

Everything was calm and silent while the Radkova witch slowly moved through Stefan's emotions before Emily suddenly felt her heart starting to pound roughly against her chest and she felt her body quickly heating up. Emily furrowed her brows while her green eyes were closed as she felt this emptiness feeling in the pit of her stomach.

The Radkova witch barely had time to think about the rush of change in her body before Emily could feel the pressure of tears building over her eyelids and pain in her shoulders as if she had been slumping her upper body all day long. Emily wasn't exactly sure of the emotion she was feeling at the moment. It all felt like a mixture of anger, despair, and sadness. Whatever it was, Emily knew her boyfriend wasn't doing the best right now.

Emily released a loud gasp when she suddenly felt all of the Salvatore vampire's emotions hit her all at once with her throat hurting, the emptiness in her stomach, and a heaviness sitting on her chest while her body continued to burn up.

Meanwhile, back at the Salvatore boarding house, the Bennett witch had been keeping a close eye on Emily but she soon grew concerned when she saw the pain on the young witch's face. Bonnie grew even more worried for Emily when the walls in Stefan's bedroom began to violently shake. Bonnie knew something wasn't right and Emily must be too deep into the spell.

"Emily!" The Bennett witch called out to her best friend as Bonnie hoped her voice would knock the young witch out of the spell. However, it just kept getting worse as the whole boarding house began to shake. Bonnie moved as close to the circle of candles as she could before she loudly shouted, "Emily, that's enough! Break the spell!"

The Bennett witch breathed out a sigh of relief when Emily let out a loud gasp as her green eyes opened and the flame from the candles were blown out. Bonnie quickly crawled into the circle after the spell was released before Bonnie placed her palms on either side of Emily's face and hurriedly asked, "are you okay? What happened?"

Emily looked across at the Bennett witch with tears clouding her green eyes. "He's not doing good," the Radkova witch whispered as she slowly shook her head.

"What do you mean? What did you feel?" Bonnie gently questioned as she ran her palms across the young witch's upper arms in a comforting motion.

The Radkova witch released a heavy sigh before she began to recall to Bonnie about what she had went through, "I could feel all of his emotions. He's in pain and he feels guilty and sad." Emily roughly wiped the tears that were clouding her vision before she tried to continue, "and I-I..."

"Hey, hey, hey," the Bennett witch softly uttered as she interrupted Emily's sobbing before she gently ran her thumb across the young witch's warm right cheek to help calm her down. "That's good," Bonnie told the brunette girl with a soft smile before she explained, "it means he's fighting and surviving."

Emily looked up at the Bennett witch while tears continued to slide down her cheeks before the Radkova witch whispered through her hoarse throat, "I feel so helpless. I... I don't want him to suffer."

Bonnie looked at the Radkova witch with sorrow in her brown gaze before her eyes suddenly widened when she recalled something. The Bennett witch quickly stood up from the floor of Stefan's bedroom and headed over to the Radkova grimoire. "I remember seeing another spell that could help!" Bonnie exclaimed as she flipped through the book of magic.

Emily was puzzled as she watched the Bennett witch flip through her grimoire. "What are you looking for?" The Radkova witch quietly asked after she had wiped away the remainder of her tears.

"There's this spell I remember reading about this morning," Bonnie mumbled as she carefully flipped through the pages of the Radkova grimoire before she exclaimed as she pointed to the exact spell, "here it is!" The Bennett witch carried the grimoire over to Emily, who was still in the center of the ring of candles, and showed it to Emily as she explained, "it's a spell where you can send him a private message. He will be the only one to hear it, so Klaus will never found out about it."

The Radkova witch's brows immediately pulled together in surprise after Bonnie told her about the spell. "Are you sure?" Emily nervously inquired before she mumbled, "I don't want him to get hurt." Emily didn't even think a spell like this existed. The last thing that Emily wanted while she did the spell was for Stefan to be in even more pain than he already was with Klaus.

Bonnie reached over and lightly squeezed the young witch's hand before she swore, "I promise. I researched the spell earlier today. Whatever message you send to him, it will be like a thought in his head, so he'll be the only one to hear it."

The Radkova witch nervously bit down on her bottom lip for a few silent moments before she finally nodded her head and mumbled, "okay." Emily knew it was risky to do this spell but she trusted Bonnie and she needed to make sure that Stefan knew he wasn't alone in all of this and to not give up.

Bonnie widely grinned across at the Radkova witch as she was happy that Emily was on board before she pointed down to the silent communication spell. "It's pretty simple and straight forward," the Bennett witch stated before she explained the spell, "you just need to say the incantation until you feel the connection between you two and then you can send Stefan your message."

Emily silently nodded her head as she listened to the Bennett witch's words while she read over the Latin spell a few times until she rememorized it. After she was sure that she knew the spell correctly, Emily sat back down on her bottom in the circle of candles. Emily took a deep breath as she lit up the ring of fire around her before Emily closed her eyes and softly murmured the spell, "aperi animo, aperi animo et audi verba mea." [Open your mind, open your mind and hear my words.]

The Radkova witch uttered the incantation three more times before she felt that familiar click in her head that let Emily know that she was now connected with Stefan's mind. Emily took another deep breath to clear her mind and focus on the spell before the Radkova witch started her message to her boyfriend, "Stef. Stefan, baby, I hope you can hear me."

Emily released a shaky breath as she thought about all of how her boyfriend was feeling before she forced herself to focus back onto her message. "I really hope you are getting this," the Radkova witch mumbled before she told Stefan with as much emotion that she could muster, "I love you. I need you to know that. I love you and I'll always wait for you. I know... I know it might be difficult right now but I need you to take care of yourself and stay strong, baby. Don't let Klaus get to your head. You can fight this. I believe in you. Just... Just focus on yourself, alright? I'm doing okay, so don't worry about me. Damon and Bonnie are helping me out a lot. I'm more worried about you. I need you to fight it. Fight whatever Klaus is making you do. You are so, so strong, baby. You got this. I love you so much. Please come home soon."

The Radkova witch slowly opened her green eyes after she finished her private message spell before warm tears quickly began to fall down her cheeks. Emily quickly covered her mouth with her palm as she felt a loud sob wrack through her chest. Emily just felt so helpless right now. Emily wished she could just bring her Stefan back and hold him close and protect him. It pained Emily to know that there wasn't anything she could do for her boyfriend.

Bonnie quickly crossed over the circle of candles and instantly pulled the sobbing witch into her chest after the flames blew out and the spell had ended. "You did good," Bonnie told the young witch as she softly ran her fingers through Emily's brunette hair. "You did all you could and that's all you can do right now," the Bennett witch murmured as she let Emily cry against her chest. "Everything will be okay," Bonnie whispered against Emily's temple as she comforted the young witch, "we'll get him back, I promise. You just have to have hope right now."

Emily didn't respond to any of the Bennett witch's words of comfort. She just tightly held onto Bonnie's waist while she silently cried for her boyfriend and this situation. The Radkova witch was so worried for Stefan. It pained Emily to know that he wasn't his usual, happy and calm self along with the fact that he was stuck with the vampire-werewolf hybrid.

Emily would do anything to just run in and save the younger Salvatore vampire but she knew that wasn't an option -- at least not right now. The Radkova witch just had to keep on having hope that Stefan will come home soon. Emily was in at least in content over the fact that she would be able to feel Stefan's emotions and to know that he's okay. It wasn't ideal but it was all Emily had right now and she had to hold onto that.
