Deena simply couldn't believe that it was time for college, she didn't even think that it was going to happen for her but Kate and Simon as well as Josh and Sam all managed to cheer her on as they were all going to the same college, yet Josh was staying in Shadyside as he still needed to finish high school, they all tried their hardest to stay in Shadyside as long as they could so that they could go with Josh but it didn't seem possible.
And Josh adored the fact that they kept waiting for him as he was part of the group, even if he didn't know it or even think that he was apart of it, he always felt like they were more Deena's friends than his but they really did care and wanted him to know, so as well as doing work experience for their gap year, they tried to spend as much time with Josh as possible, Kate and Deena a little more than Simon and Sam.
Although they had 5 hours to leave, the hours felt like they were going down in minutes, Deena's room was unpacked and plain yet it still had her bed and a desk as well as her wardrobes, yet everything was packed and in her car, she was sitting in the middle of the room thinking what had happened in this room.
*Flashback to 3 years ago*
Deena was in her room lying down while blasting her music while heavily thinking until she heard a knock on her door, she got up and opened her bedroom door to see Simon and Kate smiling at her, Simon holding a bottle of his shitty vodka that tasted horrible in his hand.
"You up for some fun?" Kate asked her with a huge smile on her face, she was in a good mood nonetheless and it showed heavily by how smiley she was and how overall she didn't snap at Simon whenever he made a joke about her or made fun of her, she simply laughed along.
"Depends on what." Deena sighed out as she glanced at the two, Josh came up and saw the two with a grin.
"What's going on with the secretive trio?" Josh teased which made Simon sarcastically laugh,
"Very funny, witch nerd." Simon teased back making Kate snicker,
"You two are already drunk, aren't you?" Deena asked the two pulling them in and shutting the door, she turned to the two who where laughing and nodding their head. Deena snickered at this and couldn't help but smile at the two.
*End of flashback*
She looked over at where her drum-set was and grinned,
*Flashback to 4 years ago*
Deena arrived home from work to see Simon and Kate huffing and puffing coming out of her room, they freeze seeing her and Deena stared the two down,
"So... h-how was the se--"
"No! That wasn't what we dd!" Kate protested as Simon roared with laughter and his hand on his stomach as he struggled to stop laughing. "Whatever, go in your room. We have a surprise for you." Kate grinned out trying to swiftly move on, Deena dropped her bag on the ground and Josh came upstairs from the basement,
"Hey did you--"
"SHH!" Simon silenced as he didn't want Josh spoiling the surprise,
"OO! I wanna see her reaction!" Josh cheered on as he watched intently,
"Guys.. i'm not in the mood." Deena huffed out,
"Okay, we don't care, go in." Simon said pulling on her arm and grinning widely jumping around, Deena sighed and went in her to her room to see a drum-kit and an immediate smile formed on her face, she walked toward it hesitantly and traced her finger-tips over it as she didn't stop smiling for a second. Simon leaned against the left side of the door frame, Josh in the middle and Kate leaning against the right side of the door frame,
"You guys..." Deena started and turned to them to see them all smiling, she was speechless.
"We uhm..." Simon glanced at Kate who tilted her toward Deena letting him continue, he gave her a small nod and turned back to Deena as he slowly started to approach her. "we wanted to thank you and repay you... for being our friend. We really appreciate you and we know how much you like playing the drums and my brother Timmy, has a friend who works at a band shop and yeah, he helped us set this up..." Simon nervously explained to Deena, Deena forced her mouth shut as tears formed in her eyes, "A-Are you crying?" Simon asked nervously as he hadn't seen Deena ever cry, she nodded her head and Josh and Kate glance at each other smiling, "D-Did we so something wrong?" Simon asked her, Deena practically jumped onto Simon grasping him into a tight hug, making him stumble backwards near Kate and Josh, Deena pulled Kate and Josh into the hug and smiled widely as tears continued to fall down her face, she couldn't be happier.
"I love you all so much... I'm forever thankful for it." Deena thanked nervously as she forgot that she hadn't said that she ever loved them before, she had told Josh but that'd always be forced words. So, it almost brought tears to his eyes when he heard Deena say that.
"W-We love you too, lady-killer." Kate squealed out, they all pulled away and Deena finally saw Kate and Simon with tears in their eyes.
"We made lady-killer cry... hmph..." Simon let out looking down nervously as he was holding back his own tears, he sniffled and Deena grasped him into a tight hug comforting him which made him burst into tears of happiness, Kate joined in as Josh watched and smiled. He was happy for his sister, she found her people. Simon pulled Josh into the hug as they all laughed.
*End of flashback*
Then she looked over at her bed and grinned happily,
*Flashback to a year ago*
Deena was fast asleep on her bed until she woke up to hearing her bedroom window rattle, she opened her eyes and saw Sam stood there looking at her with nothing but lust, she grinned at this and got up, she rushed over and unlocked the window opening it as it was pouring down with rain. She helped Sam in and set her down on the floor, the two staring each other down, Deena closed the window and turned to her,
"What're you doing here? Are you okay?" Deena asked worriedly, Sam nodded her head and smiled.
"Never better." Sam grinned out,
"Why do you look like you're planning something?" Deena asked, narrowing her eyes. Sam laughed,
"Cause I am." Sam laughed out,
"What're you plan--"
Deena felt a pair of lips that she had been wishing to feel for what felt like her whole life, she kissed her back pulling her closer with a grin on her face.
*End of Flashback*
"You gonna be okay, kid?" Deena's dad, John, asked her snapping her out of her thoughts,
"Yeah. Just need to go do something, I'll be back!" Deena said rushing to her feet and getting up, she sprinted her way to Sam's house as she felt a weird need to see her, she didn't know why of course but she did. It took her 15 minutes and she ran around the back and climbed up on her roof that was outside her window, she saw Sam seated in the middle of her room, she tapped on the door quietly and Sam looked at her and smiled widely, she opened the window and grinned.
"What's up? You okay?"
"Never better." Deena grinned out, Sam scoffed slightly.
"Why do you look like you're planning something..." Sam hummed as she hovered her lips in front of Deena's,
"Cause I am." Deena hummed out blushing massively,
"What're you planning Johnson--"
Deena placed a kiss on her lips as it was passionate and sweet, Sam kissed her back and went to pull her into her room but Deena pulled away,
"Meet me at the bridge in 30 minutes. I need to go make a pick-up." Deena quickly said which made Sam look at her confused.
"What're you plotting?" Sam asked. "And why're you breathing so heavily?" She asked confused.
"I ran here and I need to go get Kate and Simon, so... meet us there?" Deena asked hopeful, Sam smiled.
"You know I'll always come and meet you three anywhere. No matter how late or early, idiot." Sam grinned out, Deena blushed furiously at this.
"I love you." Deena sighed out resting her forehead against Sam's and now it was Sam's turn to blush furiously,
"And I love you." Sam whispered back stroking her cheekbones, they have a quick yet intense make-out session until Deena hummed pulling away and running off before Sam could even complain,
Sam rushed downstairs and grabbed her keys,
"Where are you going?" Her mother asked.
"I'll be back soon, emergency." Sam quickly said and then rushed off, she got out and saw how fast Deena was sprinting off, 'she could be a runner jesus' Sam thought to herself and grinned.
*Skip to when they all arrive*
Deena managed to get all of them by running and made it on time to the bridges as she called her brother telling her dad to drop him off which he did. She also told him to grab a black box that was underneath her bed and bring it.
They all met up and stood in a circle.
"So, why are we all here?" Simon asked letting out a small smile.
"It's time for my thank you's." Deena grinned out, she opened the black box and handed Simon a small box, she passed Kate a long box and then Josh a game that was wrapped and then handed Sam a small box. "Open them one-by-one." Deena told them, Simon opened his as he was next to her on the left, and it was a ring that he had been drooling over for months, he gasped and pouted looking at Deena, she grinned and then looked at Kate letting her go, and she opened it to see the neckless she had been drooling over, then Josh opened his and drooled over and exclaimed about how he had been wanting the game, then it was Sam's turn, she opened it and it was a half-and-half neckless but one half was missing, she grinned.
"Half a neckless?" Sam asked and Deena moved a neckless more visible showing that she was wearing the other half, Sam blushed and placed a kiss on her lips, Deena kissed her back and they pulled away from the kiss, then she handed a box of rings out to each one,
"Another ring?" Simon exclaimed excitedly,
"Yeah but not any old rings, friendship rings." Deena grinned out, they all put them on and they all lined up back to Simon's car with their arms around one another.
"COLLEGE HERE WE COME! AND THE FINAL YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL FOR JOSH!" Simon cheered out, making the group roar with laughter.
