Ae-Young's P.O.V.

"So...." Soomin began, as I walked towards her with a cup of coffee in one hand, and tea in another. "What happened?"

"Oh, nothing really." I replied, taking a seat next to her. I smiled lightly to myself, before quickly taking a sip of my tea to hide it. But of course, nothing goes by Soomin that easily.

"Uhu, and I totally believe that." Soomin replied, sitting next to me. She took a small sip from her cup of coffee, before continuing. "You kissed him, didn't-

"What? No!" I instantly retorted, feeling myself blush slightly at the thought. I mean, who wouldn't? "He's my soulmate, Soomin. But that doesn't mean we're dating."

"Yeah yeah, same difference." She giggled. "But really, what happened?"

"Like I said. Nothing really." I replied, thinking back to last night. "We talked for a bit, got all the important bits out of the way. And I sent him off with a hug. Nothing much."

"N-Nothing much. I beg to differ." She looked at me, with an expression I could barely understand. I guess the best way you could explain it, was if you bumped into a celebrity and became besties without even realising how popular they- Oh.

"Well....it not that-" I started, realising what must be going on in Soomin's mind. "No, I have nothing I can say."

"Damn, you're really out there living the Y/N life...." Soomin muttered, before taking another sip of her coffee. I couldn't help but let out a little giggle at this, before noticing someone approaching us both. Both she and I straightened our posture, and ended our current conversation without another word being spoken.

"Ms. Kwan, if you don't mind following me out, I'd like to have a word." I heard Mr. Lee's voice, which instantly brought back my serious, or rather simply, my professional aura, in front of him. I nodded my head lightly, getting up from my chair.

I put my cup down, once I had stood up. Then giving Soomin a look, as if to say goodbye, I followed Mr. Lee to his office. I already knew what this would be about, unless there were other work matters to discuss. I honestly hoped for the second option, as I wasn't ready to let Mr. Lee know of my final decision for the first.

"Take a seat, please." Mr. Lee informed me, as we entered his office. I nodded my head, not saying a word, while sitting down at the opposite side of his desk. "I assume you know why I called on you?"

"I think so, yes." I began, trying to think about my next few words rather carefully.

"Your decision, on my offer. Mind you, this would be a big opportunity to turn down." Mr. Lee stated, which didn't make this any easier for me.

"I understand, however, with all things considered....I've decided to not take the job." I stated, looking up from the ground, where I had been looking at for the past minute, hoping it would swallow me whole so I could get out of this conversation.

"Ae-Young, I don't know what to say...." Mr. Lee replied in an almost whisper, clearly not expecting the answer I gave him. "You'd be turning down-

"Mr. Lee, with all due respect, I'm fully aware of what I'm giving up." I stated, interrupting him, before he could attempt to change my mind. "I've taken a long time, considering the pros and cons of the situation. Unfortunately, the cons outweighed everything else. Therefore, I have to turn this down."

"I see." Mr. Lee began, looking as if he were at a loss for words. I have to say, I've never seen him like this. "But if maybe, I gave you some more time to think about-

"Mr. Lee, I appreciate this opportunity, I really do. Though unfortunately, I don't think it's the right path for me. I don't expect you to understand, I just hope you can accept that this is my final decision." I replied sternly, as I got up from my chair. "Thank you. I'll see myself out."

I walked out of the office, as quickly as I could, not daring to look behind me. I sighed loudly in relief, once I had made it back to my desk. On it was my cup of tea, that I assume Soomin brought over for me. I took a small sip of it, in a means to calm my nerves.

My heart was still beating rapidly, not believing how I spoke to my boss. He must have been really surprised, when I stood my ground with my answer. I just didn't think he'd stop insisting, unless I put my foot down. Good thing too, now I don't have to worry about this anymore.

I then finally sat down at my seat, even though my heart was still pounding. It was somewhat intimidating being in that office. More so, interrupting my boss, someone that is clearly ranked higher than me. At that very thought, before I could get myself more worked up about the situation, I noticed my phone light up.

I'm not really supposed to be checking my phone during work, but my gut feeling told me to anyways. So I quickly took a peek, noticing a text....from Yoongi. I put my phone back down, not planning on answering it. But then it lit up again, and again. And before Yoongi could send through another text, I was already in our chat.

-

Yoongi : Everything alright?

Yoongi : You seem a little....

Yoongi : Scared?

Yoongi : Worried?

Me : I wouldn't go all the way
to worried.

Me : But I'm fine now.

Me : I'm sorry if I caused you any
discomfort.

Yoongi : No, not at all.

Yoongi : Anyways, I should probably
get back to work.

Me : Yeah, me too.

-

I tuned off my phone then, before any further reply was sent. I put my phone a good deal away from me, so I wouldn't get distracted again. I thought back to the conversation for a moment, realising how casual it was.

Anyone would have just thought we were good friends, or something of the sort. Not mere strangers who met a week ago. I honestly can't say exactly why I feel so comfortable around him, because it doesn't make any sense to begin with. But, be it the soulmate bonding or not, I just....do? I feel like I'm getting Deja Vu, as I remember feeling this same way just the other day.

But for now, I have to try to put that out of my head, so I can focus on my job. So after turning around, away from the sight of my phone, I got back on task. And then, my usual work continued.

Not for too long though, because in just a few short minutes, someone came running towards me with a phone in hand. I didn't know the person too well, I just knew he worked here, on the same floor as myself.

"Excuse me, Miss." He said, catching his breath. "There's someone on the phone for you, and he says it's urgent."

I didn't waste any time asking questions, taking the phone in my hand. Generally, I don't get calls from an office phone, because it's easier to just give people my own number so they can contact me at any time, without worrying that the office is understaffed. So this is definitely the first time, in a really long while, that I've received an office call. It kind of caught me off guard.

"Hello?" I said calmly into the phone. "This is Kwan Ae-Young speaking."

"Yes, hello Ae-Young. Your mobile must have been turned off, because we couldn't reach you. Unfortunately, I couldn't wait much longer, as we need your help." A panicked voice asked. It was Sejin's voice. "Namjoon found his soulmate."

"That's great to hear!" I said in a cheerful voice, really quite confused at his panicked one. "I'm sensing that something else is the matter?"

"We just noticed, only the numbers though." Sejin continued, rather vaguely. "We didn't say anything, as he and Namjoon's soulmate didn't show to have reacted in any abnormal way upon first greeting each other."

"I'm sorry, I don't quite understand." I replied, trying to wrap my head around the currently limited information given to me.

"Yoongi too, has found his soulmate."

A/N Wow, okay. I was also not expecting the chapter to end that way. I just started writing about the phone call, and soon it came to this.

I hope you liked the chapter~!! Stay safe, and I purple you~! 💜💜
