I woke up the next day. Yesterday was pretty boring- I couldn't talk to Melissa because she was still on punishment. I tried to call Marquis and see if everything was alright but I got no response.
I did the same thing I did every morning. I took my shower then got ready before going downstairs to talk to my mom.
She was sitting on the couch watching the news. “Hey Thena. What's the gossip for today? ”
I cracked a smile.“Nothing really today but-” my phone vibrated. I had a text from “Big Daddy ”. The message said hey boo. I looked around the room and texted them back, who is this. It took a couple minutes but they texted back. Marcus.
I rolled my eyes and put my phone back in my pocket. My mom stared at me and asked me. “Who is it Thena”
“This guy at my school who is always messing with me. ” I told her. I flopped down on the couch and changed the channel.
“Well maybe he likes you. You should give him a chance.” She told me. I gave her a hug and she sighed, “Well off to work. ”
I smiled at her. “Bye momma. I love you. ” she told me she loved me back and left.
I looked at my phone and began pondering. I thought about whether I should give Marcus a chance. Then I started thinking about how Chad would feel about this. I decided to stay friends with him because I knew Melissa liked him.
I stared at his number. I decided to text him back when he called. I put the phone up to my ear slowly when I answered. I was nervous because this was the first time I wanted to talk to him. “Hello?
He laughed. Even now, he sounded cocky. “Dang I got chu like that, huh?”
I got irritated. “Bye Marcus. ” I started to hang my phone up.
He got shocked. “No! Don't hang up! ”
I stared at my phone. I was surprised that he had apologized go me. I smiled. “Did you just say you're sorry?”
“Yeah... ” he uttered. I told him it was okay and he could talk to me now. He was really quiet like he was hesitating to say something. “Can I, um, take you out?”
I looked around. It seemed like this was moving a little too fast, but maybe that's because I haven't dated in so long “Yeah.. Where?”
He let out a small laugh. “It's gone be a surprise. ” I walked out the house. I didn't feel comfortable talking while I was walking by myself so I told him I'll see him later. “Okay bye. I'll pick you up at around 7.”I told him okay and hung up.
I was thinking about our date all day. Melissa called me stupid for even talking to him, but I didn't pay her much attention. Chad seemed a little distant today; maybe Melissa told him about our date and put him in his feelings. I didn't care because I didn't feel that way towards him.
I went home quickly after school. I knew it was going to take me a long time to get ready so I sat my homework aside for now. I made sure that I smelled as good as I could.
It took me a long time to find a good outfit. I wasn't sure where we were going so I didn't know how to dress. I decided to wear this new dress my mom and I went shopping for last weekend. It was purple,-which was my favorite color- tight, and stopped just a little after my knees. I curled my hair which added some time. When I was finally done it was getting close to 7. I decided to sit on the porch until Marcus pulled up. It took so long that I thought he ditched me until his car pulled up.
He got out of his car. He was dressed fancy, so I guess I had the right idea of how to dress,“Sorry I was late. Traffic. ” he looked me up and down, “You looking by cute. Let's go. ”
I sat in the car with him while he drove. It was pretty awkward at first, until we found something to talk about. He asked me a bunch of questions like he was getting to know me, and I answered them then asked him some. It was a cool car ride until I realized what these roads led to. “Are you taking me to the French restaurant on the hill? ”
The light turned red and he looked at me. “Yeah why? ”
“Oh nothing. How did you get reservations so fast?”
He showed me a sneaky smile and got cocky again. “I got banks remember? ” I rolled my eyes. He parked the car for the valet and we stood there. I looked at the restaurant and Marcus watched me.“You alright?
I shook my head. “This is were Marcus and I broke up. ” I did a laugh even though I was sad,“I threw my entire plate at him.”
Marcus smiled and backed up. “Lemme make sure I'm on my best behavior. We can go somewhere else if you want to. ”
I turned my head to him. “No! I really like this place!”
Marcus shook his head and walked me inside. Some of the employees already knew him and he talked to them like they were his family. Our waiter took us to our seat, which was outside. It had a good view of the ocean which was shining because the sun was about to set. He asked us for our order- Marcus asked him to get the usual and I asked him for a burger and fries. Marcus smiled at me when I ordered.
When the waiter walked away Marcus started laughing hysterically. I glared at him because his laugh was ugly.“How you gonna come to this fancy place and you getting regular stuff? ”
I chuckled a little. “They're ‘french fries’.” I joked with him. Our food was brought to us in thirty minutes. Marcus got something weird and he was eating it so fancy. I stared at him and laughed. “How does a hood boy like you eat stuff like that?”
He wiped his face. “ I dunno. And it's called Alsace. Before i started eating foods like this I was in the projects. The only French thing I heard of was French dressing. But it wasn't that bad. Me and my daddy spent all our time together. Now it's like I don't even see him. ”
I put my hand on his for support and smiled at him. “Well I don't see my dad too often either. He's in the army. But he'll come around eventually I promise. ”
He started laughing. “Can we just eat? I'm tired of talking about my feelings. ” we stopped talking about it and we enjoyed the rest of the night. It was full of laughs and fun.

We sat in my driveway and talked. 30 minutes past by and it was pretty late. I told Marcus I was going to leave. “Well bye then. ”
I looked at him. We stared at each other, frozen. We slowly came face to face and began kissing. Then it was a sudden rush. Neither of us could control it. I ripped his button shirt apart and I explored his body with my hand. He started to kiss on my neck and I moaned. I then realized what was going on and pushed him off. “We're moving too fast... ”
He sat back in his seat and buttoned his shirt up. “Sorry I didn't plan for this to happen.”
I got out the car and talked through the window,“It's cool. Maybe if we talked some more.” He slid me a sly look and drove off. I smiled. I might actually like him.

So yeah. I published this yesterday but for some STRANGE reason it only kept the letter j. So sorry for that…
Marcus and Athena. They good together or not? Do you think Melissa thinks he's going to hurt him? And Chad. How do you think he's going to feel? Woah what about Marquis?! And that scene.... I'm nasty. But do you think Athena would have took it all the way? Why do you think she stopped?
