Beep. Beep. Beep. I groan in annoyance of my alarm clock. I quickly shut it off before cuddling into my pillow again.
Not even 5 minutes later, my roommate and best friend Faith walks into my room, jumping on top of me.
"Wake up Vay! We've got work!" She shouts.
She gets off me and I roll onto my back, groaning once again.
"Come on Vada, Jenny is in today!" Faith tells me.
"Ok, ok, I'm getting up!" I laugh out.
She chuckles and I get out of my bed. As soon as Faith sees me up, she leaves.
I quickly hop in the shower and do all the essentials. Wash my hair, shave, wash my body. I hop out of the shower and change into a pair of jeans and a crop top that barely shows any of my skin. I also put a bandana in my hair after tying it back since I don't have time to straighten it.
I check the time, 8:15. Shit, we gotta go. I grab my back pack cause I hate bringing purses to work and run into the kitchen of our little apartment.
There, I see Faith on her phone eating a protein bar.
"Ok! Let's go!" I yell.
She throws me a protein bar for breakfast and then grabs her lanyard that holds the house key. We lock the door and start making our way out of the apartment complex.
We step onto the side walk and take in the fresh air of L.A. We live just outside of Hollywood.
As we start walking to the diner, I ask "Did you say Jenny was coming in today?"
Faith nods her head excitedly as she takes a bite into her protein bar.
"Joe told me that she's supposed to be in today and we know Jenny. She never skips a scheduled shift!" She tells me.
We both laugh as we continue our walk down the street.
You might be wondering who Jenny is. Well, Jenny is like me and Faith's non-biological mom. She is the owner of 'Jenny's Diner' which is where we work. We have been working here for probably about 4 years.
Me and Faith can both agree that everyone at Jenny's Diner is like family to us. Joe, the cook. Jenny, the owner. Stacy, one of the waitresses. Teddy, the other cook. And Tracy, one of the other waitresses.
Jenny pays us enough to cover rent, bills, food and other things we need. We don't have all the money in the world but we have enough to take care of our selves.
After about a 10 minute walk, we arrive at the diner. Me and Faith enter through the back door which also leads us into the kitchen. As soon as me and Faith walk through the door, we put down our things on the table.
"Hey JoJo!" I tease.
"Hi Vada!" He greets back laughing
I lean over his shoulder to see him whipping the pancake batter.
"Yum Joe! These look like the best ones you have ever made!" Faith tells him.
"Both of you out of my kitchen!" He tells us, groaning out of annoyance when Faith flicks the side of his head.
"Is Jenny in today?" I ask.
Joe nods and me and Faith excitedly run out of the kitchen.
There, we see Teddy refilling the sofa station, Jenny organizing the cash register and Stacy and Tracy setting and cleaning the tables.
"Jenny!" Faith shouts out.
"Girls! I haven't seen you in a couple of weeks!" She says as she turns to us and smiles.
Me and Faith go up to Jenny and hug her. Like I said, Jenny is like our mother since neither me or Faith really had one. But she's never really around a lot since she lives in Malibu.
"So, how are you guys?" Jenny asks.
"Same old, but hey! We where finally here on time today!" I answer, shrugging.
Everyone in the kitchen starts laughing, including Faith and I.
"Finally!" Teddy shouts.
"Thanks Teddy! Now she's not gonna show up on time anymore!" Faith shouts back.
"Alright, so what do you need us to do before we open?" I ask, chuckling.
"One of you guys can wipe down all the chairs and counters and one of you can sweep around to clean up any of the dust around!" Jenny tells us, smiling.
Me and Faith nod before Jenny disappears into the kitchen. I look at Faith and smile
"I wipe the tables and you sweep?"
"Yes ma'am!" Faith agrees, making me laugh.
We put on the aprons that tie on our waist and clip our name tags on our shirts. I don't even know why we try to where then anymore because half way through everyday, we just end up taking them off.
As I start cleaning the counter, Stacy and Tracy start getting come clean cups and stuff.
"Hey Stace, Hey Tray." I say, smiling. The people at the diner are the people I like.
They both smile and greet me back with a hey.
"You and Faith do anything fun last night?" Stacy asks while she puts cutlery from the bin on the newly wiped tables.
"We watched a movie and I was in bed at 10:30 cause I was exhausted." I tell them, laughing at myself.
We all laugh and Faith adds "Don't lie, you where in bed by 9:45!"
I jokingly flip her off as she continues to sweep, making everyone laugh.
See, I have my nights where I go to bed at like 10 cause I'm so tried and then I have night where I also don't sleep at all. I don't know if there's something wrong with me but it stopped bothering me at this point. The rest of the time was just charged before we open the diner.

Here is the first chapter of 'Stupid To Fall For You'! I know it's boring but just read a couple more chapters and I promise it'll get better! The first couple of chapters are always ruff, but hey! It's not that bad!
