My head throbbed when I got up in the morning? It hurts so bad! I cursed the alcohol as I rush to the bathroom and puke. Gosh. I will never drink like a fish again!
"Ano? Sige inom pa," Wawa mocked when he saw me probably looking shit with my bird's-nest-like hair and the same outfit as yesterday's.
"Duh as if you didn't drink din no?" I spat "By the way, where's Clau and Bench?"
"Ayun, naglakad-lakad. Deep heart-to-heart talk."
Oh.
Yeah.
Nag-out nga pala si Bench kagabi. He confessed!
"Hindi parin talaga ako makapaniwala Wawa...."
"Ako rin eh," umiling siya
"I'm so so happy for Bench. I could just imagine him hiding his feelings for so long and now finally freeing it."
If not because of my hurting head, I would tear up na naman.
"Ako rin naman."
"Weh talaga?"
He looked....
"I am quite disappointed but I will support Bench. It's still fresh kaya medyo nawe-weirduhan pa ako." he explained with a tight smile "Oh eto, advil."
I was about to turn my back when I realized it's Wawa's birthday! Kinuha ko muna ang gift ko for him and turned my camera on to film his reaction. I greeted my babies good morning narin since I want to start my day with them.
"What's that?" his brows furrowed when I showed him the paperbag, with my camera directed to his face
"Ngiti ka muna and then greet them.." inginuso ko ang cam
He greeted them like an obedient puppy and turned to me again. I started singing 'happy birthday' and so Wawa smiled so wide na.
"Thank you."
I went to him for a hug before handing my gift.
"Ano 'to?"
"Just open it." I urged
And as expected, he was happy. It was a nonfiction book, about politics. Wawa being Wawa, nagbasa agad. He's not a bookworm but he loves book, if that make sense?
After drinking the tablet Wawa gave me, I fixed myself para fresh na ulit. While I was applying sunblock, my phone rang. I shot my brows up when I saw Khalil's name. I rolled my eyes as I answer.
"Yes?"
"Good morning." sagot niya sa namamaos na boses
I stopped what I was doing to go to the veranda. Wala pa sina Claui, si Wawa naman ay naliligo so I think this is the time para makapag-usap kami. No pretentions and all that.
"Why did you call?" I asked, ignoring his greetings
I heard him sigh heavily.
"To check up on you.."
To check up on me. Ang sweet niya, no? Tss.
"What are you? A doctor?" I smiled sarcastically to myself
I know I'm being mean, last week pa actually. But I can't help it. The image of Angela and thoughts of them making milagro or whatever in his office kept flashing in my mind. Idagdag pa na may period ako today.
"Come on. You were drunk last night, I just want to know how you're feeling.."
"Okay, then. My head hurts but I'm okay now. I'm bound to eat breakfast with my friends if you'll let me drop this call and let me finish what I was doing." suplada kong sagot
Natahimik siya ng ilang segundo.
"Sige. Ibaba mo na para makapag-agahan ka."
He sounded like he don't want to drop the call, yet, me eating breakfast made him agree so fast. Gustong-gusto niya talaga kumain ako, no?
"Why do I feel like may iba pang rason kung bakit ka tumawag? Spill it nalang."
"You're right but you should eat first-"
"You're so pabebe. Sabihin mo nalang kase. The breakfast could wait." I insisted
"I want to explain." kalmado niyang sagot
That made me stop and think.
"Huh? Explain what?"
"I asked my secretary and she confirmed your presence Wednesday last week, the same day Angela stormed in my office, without any appointment-"
"The hell are you talking about?" I blurted out exasperatedly
Bigla ay parang kumulo ang dugo ko. Why would he remind me that?!? Gusto niya ba talaga akong inisin-
"I did not let her in because she didn't have appointment, Hannah." he cut off my thoughts
Teka nga...
Bakit parang ipinaparating niyang affected ako?!? Hindi ba?
"Oh tapos? Next time then if she has appointment?" I gritted my teeth
"She can't have appointment with me. I have nothing to do with her."
"Really?"
Fucking shit.
My 'really' should sound mocking but I think it sounded hopeful!
"I am no longer seeing her since we broke up years ago. Trust me sweetheart," malamyos niyang paliwanag
I shut my eyes tight as I control myself. Do I believe him?
And most importantly, why is he explaining?
"It's not as if I am affected, Khalil." I think that was the safest answer I could say as of the moment
"I know. I just want to let you know." seryoso niyang giit
Where is he coming anyway-
Oh shit.
Memories from last night dawned in me like a broken cd.
"Sana all pinupuntahan ni ex. Sana all."
Aaaaaaaah.
Did I really say that?!?
Then this must be why Khalil's like this! I can't believe ako mismo ang maglalaglag sa sarili ko! I won't drink na talaga! I wasn't jealous! It was the alcohol!
"Galit ka pa ba sa'kin?" I heard him
I balled my fist. Inis na inis ako sa sarili kong katangahan!
"Hindi ako galit, okay? And I don't care what's with you and Angela-"
"Sorry na." he said softly like that of a tender whisper
Napasinghap ako at nawalang parang bula ang lahat ng inis. Just like that. Bakit nagiging marupok na ata ako sa lalaking 'to?
"Hindi kita niloko at hinding-hindi kita lolokohin, Hannah." pahabol niya
My lips formed a pout. Judging my rigid heartbeat, I could say this conversation will lead us no good. Or ako lang?
"Oo na. Are my babies there? I want to hear them..." I shifted the topic. I also want to hear my girls din talaga.
"They're beside me, actually."
"Really? Make them bark please."
"Facetime nalang para makita mo sila." he reasoned out smoothly
Eh may patches of sunblock pa ako sa face ko! I can't face him like this-sina Kala ang ife-facetime Hannah, hindi si Khalil! Yeah right.
I dropped the call and called Khalil. He immediately answer it. My heart warmed when I saw Kala and Bala on the bed, looking so cute with their hoodie on.
"Babies! Mommy misses you both na!" I giggled on the phone while watching them
"Why don't you show them your face?" tanong ni Kai
But-
Sige na nga.
I switched the camera to front cam and my heart jumped when Kai's cam switched as well! I can see he's wearing a white cotton tee. His hair is messy and I noticed it has gone longer. Maayos ang pagkaka-angle niya sa sarili, like he's ready for it. Habang ako, sobrang lapit ng cam sa mukha. Agad kong inilayo ang iphone at sinamaan siya ng tingin.
Akala ko ba, Kala and Bala wants to see me? Bakit sa kanya niya itinapat? And why does he look so good in video call?
"What's that?" he pointed my face
"It's sunblock."
He pursed his lips like he's hiding a smile while he stare at me.
"Uwi ka na," mahina niyang sinabi pero rinig na rinig ko naman
I smirked. Don't tell me he misses me?
"At bakit ako uuwi?" I shot a brow
The expression of his eyes right now is a mixture of softness and something I couldn't name. Malulunod na talaga ako sa madilim niyang mga mata. There really is something in his eyes that's pulling me and taking away my insanity.
"Because... our children misses you..."
Ako naman ngayon ang ngumuso. Yun lang? Yun lang??
"I miss them too but I'm gonna stay here for a couple of days pa. Let me see them nga!"
"What about me?" his forehead creased
"What about you?" pagbabalik ko
He looked away in a slow manner, making him look like rolling his eyes. Suplado.
"Nevermind." he switched the cam na and so I talked to Kala and Bala again
It was just brief tho coz Khalil wanted me to eat my breakfast na.
"I honestly don't have the appetite, Khalil." pag-amin ko
I don't know why, but I feel like my intestines earlier were being puked out too. Nakakawalang-gana. This is usually how I feel after drinking a lot. Sakit sa ulo, suka at walang gana.
"I know but you should eat and drink a lot. Drinking too much dehydrates the body, Hannah."
I heard that from Wawa before.
"Yeah. Uminom naman na ako ng marami. Maybe mag-chochocolate nalang ako to fill my stomach."
"That's a no too, Han. The caffeine and cocoa in chocolate join forces to aggravate the same gastro issues triggered by acidic foods. So you should eat something bland or not that sweet."
Oh wow. Seriously? He's lecturing me now? Pero infair ha, I think he made sense din naman.
"You should not eat fried foods too because it contain salt that can further dehydrate you." he added
"Okay po Mister Dietician." ngumisi ako
"Ibaba mo na."
"Ikaw? Are you not gonna work today?" I ask
He switched the cam again. Now, I can see his face more.
"I will. Later." he bit his thin red lips
"Uh, nagluto na ba si Josie?"
I actually wanted to ask if he has eaten na pero I think that question is a lot safer. Baka kung ano pa maisip....
"She's not here."
My brows furrowed.
"Huh?"
"I let her rest while you're not here."
"Para saan naman?"
Kaya pala I cannot connect to Josie for a facetime na!
"So... you won't have any choice but to call me when you miss the dogs..." he smirked
I glared at him. He's good at this talaga no?
"Ewan ko sa'yo. Sige na, I'll eat na. You eat narin," I whispered the last sentence
He pursed his lips like he's suppressing a smile again.
"Okay. Eat well and take care-"
"Yeah yeah-"
"Update me and answer my calls-"
"Oo na! Kulit mo." I rolled my eyes, a small smile crept on my lips
"Wait Han,"
I raised my brows. Sobrang lapit na ng mukha ko sa camera this time coz I was about to end the call na.
"I miss you too." ngumiti siya
