Skeppy POV

Three days left, everything was going oddly well. For an impossible challenge, somehow they were pulling it off. "This is one of the longest two weeks of my life."

"It'll be worth it, Skeppy. You know it will."

But in the back of his mind, somewhere, he knew that it was all for nothing. He had been Bad's soulmate and enemy ever since they had met. Nothing should've changed when Skeppy turned 20. They had been fine before, but all of a sudden they weren't. "Do these tattoos even matter, Bad?"

"Of course they do! That's why we're doing this."

"I don't think they truly matter... Honestly, are we any different now than a year ago?"

"Well, I don't think so, but..."

"Bad, you've had those tattoos for five years. You've had them for longer than you've even known me. Don't you think that's strange?"

"It's fate, isn't it?"

"Fate... I'm not a big fan of fate..."

"It's destiny, it's all meant to play out like this."

"Angel could tell you it's not meant to be like this."

"What do you mean?"

"It's all a mistake."

"Fate doesn't make mistakes, does it?"

"I think it very well could. These matching tattoos are a mistake."

"Maybe we're just meant to work around it. Stay strong and prove we can do it!"

"I'm sure we can do it, but that doesn't change the fact that these are a mistake. Talk to Angel if you don't believe me."

Skeppy sighed and rolled over. How had it been possible that they were almost to 2 days left? It was supposed to be impossible, and yet, there they were. Of course they had almost fought a few times, but it always calmed down before anything bad could happen.

Was it interference from Angel? Surely they would've known by then if Angel was interfering. He would've said something. Skeppy closed his eyes and allowed his mind to wander. I wonder where I'll end up tonight... He waited in the dark for a dream to come, but it didn't. When he opened his eyes, it was morning. Just two more days.

Skeppy got up, not quite feeling rested, but not too tired. He grabbed an energy drink from the fridge and sat down at the table. Angel appeared next to him and sat down. "What have you been up to, Angel?"

"Oh, not much."

"I see you and Emma spend a lot of time together."

"Yeah, she's pretty cool."

Skeppy yawned and took another sip of his drink.

"Didn't sleep well?"

"I don't know... I don't even know if I slept at all."

"No dreams?"

"Nope..."

"Strange, but at least you didn't have any nightmares."

"I guess so."

Emma came down the stairs as they were talking. "Oh, hey Angel."

"Good morning."

"Are you ready to go soon?" Emma asked him.

"Yep, I'm ready anytime."

"You two headed somewhere?" Skeppy asked.

"Just out." Emma said casually.

Skeppy eyed them suspiciously. "Alright... Have fun."

"Enjoy your time with Bad," Emma laughed.

Skeppy was still suspicious of where they could be going, but he didn't care to press anymore. They headed outside, leaving Skeppy alone in the kitchen. He grabbed his phone from his pocket and scrolled through Twitter. Bad came downstairs a little bit later, also yawning.

"Morning Skeppy."

"Good morning, Bad. How did you sleep?"

"Not great. You?"

"I didn't sleep too well either."

Bad poured some coffee into his cup. "Did Emma leave?"

"Yeah, she was headed somewhere with Angel."

"Huh, I wonder where they're going."

"Seemed like a date to me, but who knows."

"You really think so? How would that work out?"

"What do you mean?"

"Well, with Angel being... An angel," Bad said.

"I don't know. That would be strange."

They continued talking for a bit. Skeppy never responded with anything more than a sentence. It was slightly awkward, but at least there was no chance of fighting.

"Bad."

"Hm?"

"What if we failed already?"

"What do you mean? We haven't!"

"But what if we did?"

"Why are you asking this, Skeppy?"

"I'm just wondering... If we were to fail, what would happen to us?"

"The tattoos-"

"No, I know, I mean, what would happen to us?"

"We would be enemies..."

"Would we really, Bad? I don't think I could ever bring myself to hate you, especially not over some stupid tattoos."

Bad considered what Skeppy said. "You... You're right. Nothing would happen, would it?"

"I don't know, but it just seems strange to me."

"I'd still rather not risk it..."

"Mhm, I wouldn't want to either."

"I'm sure everything will work out. We just need to stay positive."

"I try," Skeppy said. "I try."

Bad gave Skeppy a hug. They both smiled. Everything will be just fine.
